Last CivFanatics Preview: Filling in the Gaps!

This may have been asked, but what if you promote a UU? Does it retain it special abilities upon promotion or lose them?? Like the Phalanx with 100% against mounted units...is that lost???
thanks!

Great Job with the preview... It's usefull and well done!!!

I was doubtful!!! as always but now that it's days aways I feel more like I want it badly!!!!

Little question.. I dont expect any one to know.. but!!! Im in Quebec, I went to see yesterday at Eb and there were nothing announce, the 17 yrs old guy just look at me like  that... I wonder if we are even consider in NORTH AMERICA

Anyway... chances are that by next week I'll be playing too!!!

A quick note on UU... I think they've done a great job work with America... getting ride of the useless F-16!!! But in the other hand.. we lost Indian Elephant and China's look awfully weaken, arabs too !!!
is there an political issus? [just Joking]

The rest seem pretty decent... and for the first time I can say that I really want to play this game!!!!! 15 civs on tiny Island... beats Huge empire built any day of the weeks :)

I'd like to add that the change of having ground units and impassable mountains is a fature I am glad to see. It gives more realism and promotes better strategy to the game. Although I may be cursing it's existance in a few days when I'm trying to get my offensive team across a set of mountains in time to stop those pesky Vikings from counterattacking a city I just stole.

But the truth is getting an organized detachment of ground units over high mountain passes is hard, very hard. You might get a few over, but not enough to count. And the ones that make it over wouldn't be fit for combat until they rested and resupplied.

How about making a ground unit that can get over mountains but then be down to 1HP when it does? Especially over snow capped mountains. Or have a chance that they would be killed like galleys trying to cross sea squares. Not a bad idea. Hmm, I could have been a programmer....

Oh wait... I WAS a programmer.

Stupid cubicles.

Somebody did not read Hannibal.... He did it well to smack some Romans around for a couple of decades.

The upgraded unit is regular one, no special abilities. Though I would expect promotions to stay.

Btw, phalanx was bad examble because it's upgraded to pikeman which has always 100% against mounted units :)
