[LP] Leader Pass Pack 4: Rulers of the Sahara (Feb. 2023) - Patch Notes Discussion

So, if Sundiata Keita puts Great Works of Writing in markets, does that mean he has a chain of bookstores? Is he trying to take over the world through Barnes and Noble?

Yes. I noted that as a potential fix in the bug thread. Guess they did it.
I'm sure Firaxis is doing some work on bugs and stability and whatnot, even if it's not mentioned anywhere.

Ramses' design approach is more straight forward than Yongle. The only concession that you should make is to build MORE Wonders, which is contrary to Yongle, who requires a bit more strategic thought. The downside of Ramses is the opportunity cost. You're building wonders, but you aren't building other things, when you really should be, like units, builders, and settlers. I was lucky to get a pair of builders from goodie huts, which I used to chop the Great Bath. The RNG gods benefitted me in my time of need. Without them, I would have spent quite a few more turns on the wonder and less building other things.

So, no. I don't think we will be seeing outbursts about Ramses breaking the game. The tiles and civics that you pick up come at the cost of sacrificing other important priorities at the altar of wonder building.
Since Ramses gets culture off buildings as well isn't there also incentive to just go super wide with settlers so you can maximize the number of buildings you're producing?

That aspect of the ability has only a little more power than the Ayuttaya suzerain bonus, and I barely notice that one. So, I wouldn't say it's going to be a big factor in determining your strategy. It's more of a supplement.

Only if he also has a coffee corporation and coffee products in the Suguba as well. :mischief:

...and just after 2 hours the first bug found
Such a small release, such simple abilities, and yet still can be bugged.
The ModifierType for that ability is busted (specifically the EffectType I guess). It’s not just his ability. I reported it ages ago but no change.

Fixing the EffectType would ostensibly require dll changes.

I think a workaround involving setting up an “attach” system first could fix it—meaning having a modifier that attaches to all the player’s cities, then using the same effecttype but with “COLLECTION_OWNER.”

I think that works but it’s been so long since I’ve tested it. If that works, I think the same approach for fixing Zulu’s similar Ikanda yield bug would work.

Wish I could “@“ whomever from Firaxis is clearly reading these discussions and implementing the fixes we discuss :p — thank you once again, infixo, for solving that Tokugawa/Portugal trade route bug.

I assume it's the same problem as forever that used to plague the old British Museum, where the extra slots and ability were attached to whoever built the district, and not whoever owns it.

Despite the lack of patch notes, the GameCore .DLLs have been modified, which was not the case with the Rulers of China update, so it looks as if some bugfixing has been done
Not necessarily. They had to introduce a new type of modifier effect to implement Ramses: EFFECT_GRANT_CITY_YIELD_PERCENT_BUILDING_CREATED_COST.

Yes, it is the same issue. They actually "reused" that old modifier from BM.

Eventually we will need to start working on a community patch and either fix whatever is fixable, find some clever workarounds or maybe just get rid of things that are actually not working as intended.
