Leaderhead creation

I think he looks great as it is (though I'm doubtless you will be able to make him look even better). Love the background as well.

My only real criticism is that your Afonso appears to be bald; this is not the case in depictions of him.
Well, it seems that historically inaccurate representation is a part of civ VI leaders' style/drops a mic.

Actually, in the image I was mainly focusing on, Afonso may be bald (or poorly painted). I think it helped me to make him look fierce though. Anyway, will see what can I do, the worst thing I am already used to him being bald, which may interfere with my judgement.

/In case of Bathory, I am not gonna change anything. Artist's vision and poor 3d base, unfortunately I wasn't thinking much serious about leaderscene back then.

Well, I haven't seen every picture of him or anything, so I suppose it is more than possible there is a picture showing him being bald in his later days (or maybe the hair he is usually shown having was a wig :dunno:.

First shot ever at creating a (static) leaderhead. I present you Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange, leader of the Netherlands.

Wow! I am impressed. The game is not out yet, and you guys are already making leaders for it)

Progress!

Princess Luna's all but done, though the poly count is a bit high. Guess it's time for me to learn how to rig a mesh, or find somebody to help.

Read that as "pony count" and "rig a mech". As in, "right, we're done with My Little Pony civs, time to try making a gundam suit, but I don't know how - has anyone done it before?"

Anyway, here's the Tiger of Kai and the Dragon of Echigo done more Civ6-style:

Just thought I'd post this from Fred Bear on the Colonialist Legacies page here:
Hi all, Love the look of the work shown here and looking forward to some CL for CivVI. So, helping out where I can with what humble hobbyist skills I have.

Lester B Pearson work so far;

Concept - Sculpt. Reference TPangolin artwork & various Google images.

And here is where I'm at with the game mesh. The hair is proving to be a lot more challenging than I thought it would, its still a high res sculpt and there are still details like the pockets to do, before the next steps of baking maps and rigging. Actually I had already done this but wasn't happy with it, so this is the second version.

That's it for a bit, going to do some playing of the game some. :)

And this from Sukritact's page:
My initial roster will feature Siam as a returning civ, and Hadrian and Henry VII as alternate leaders. With time, I will hopefully be able to expand to Ethiopia, Gaul, the Sámi and other cultures and states of all types, both imperial and tribal.

Does this mean making 3D leaders for Civ VI is easier than for Civ V? I mean, in all the years of Civ V we only got three 3D leaders (I think, David, Mansa Musa, and Parkes). Civ VI has been around for about a week, and we already have this awesome progress.

It's not necessarily that it's easier - I think it's moreso that Civ VI has brought a tonne of talented and motivated people out of the woodwork. We're still aways of from the SDK, so we're not even sure of the level of ease when it comes to implementation.

It was the other way around. Didn't need to venture outside of CFC at all, or for the most part even this thread.

TPang has been spending all his faith and gold on patronage. Stealing those Great People from us.

Have we got anywhere in actually adding any of these static leaders to the game? At least as placeholders so the guys making new civs can put them in their mods?

it is not possible

Forgive me for being that guy, but isnt all of this sort of in vain then? I wasnt modding Civ V but iirc Civ III and IV were not very similar at all when it came to creating Leaders to the point that hardly anybody from one community ported to the other (mind you i did say hardly Rob). I guess i could be accused of naysaying, but we already have one person literally talking about their emotional reaction to feeling like theyre arent contributing. All im saying is were kinda putting the cart before the horse right now.

So allow me to be constructive; has anybody TRIED yet?

Edit: although i guess if you dont care about static Leaders, what does it hurt.

The problem is that we currently can't import any art - at a push we can replace existing atlases (see Historical Religions). We're waiting on programs to open the files.

Okay, so thats also how new civ icons were added too. I really hope graphic modding was as easy as it was in IV. We had a great group of graphic modders for IV.

The Capo, I think this is just because it's early days and that we don't have the tools available to add the art easily. I'm sure once a couple of DLCs have rolled out we'll be able to do much more.

Hi guys, does anybody knows how the game handles hair? Are they textured meshs, particles or a combination?
