Left Behind: Eternal Forces

I thought it was a hoax at first also, but sadly, it isn't. It is a sad day for America, and I think, for real Christians. This is obviously meant to be peddled to the not so scriptured Christians.

if every time one nutjob went around creating something it would be a sad day for every nation and every organization every day. To say this a sad day for Christians or for Americans implies that this is part of America or Christianity.

You know, the world isn't really a worse place if someone tries to make a video game. I mean, worst case, it would actually be FUN, and you'd shamefully play it, but deny it to your friends.

Umm, that was from the article, I didn't say that. Allthough I think a Christain company peddling violent video games is a sad day for Christianity, but not America.

* cough * :mischief:

That is what the game is based on.

You play as the Tribulation Force against the Potentate and his evil henchmen.

I really fail to see how it could be based on Left Behind if the intent of the game is to create a christian theocracy in the USA. The Left Behind series begins with the occurance of the rapture and the rise of the Anti-Christ to a position of power. I'd say the chances of creating a christian theocracy anywhere in the world after that happening would be exactly zero.

Based on the renowned series of Christian-faith novels about the aftermath of the Rapture and the lives left behind in the ensuing turmoil after those who are saved by their faith in God are gone. Left Behind: Eternal Forces will put players in command of the apocalyptic battles raging in the streets of New York City between the angelic Tribulation Forces and the demonic Global Community Peacekeepers during the End of Days. Gamers will participate in events from the Left Behind book series in single player mode and battle to capture territory from other players in the multi-player online game mode.

I've read most of the series and they have nothing to do with killing non-Christians or the like and I doubt the game does also. Its Christians vs the Forces of the Anti-Christ. How many movies have been made on the same topic?

I really do not see why people are getting bent out shape over this. Typical CFC Christian-phobia I guess.

Especially considering the all the other popular games that are "morally" or "Politically" taboo.

The forces of Antichrist are not made up of non-Christians?

To be fair, that article was pretty sensationalist. I'd do some more research VERY carefully before I started claiming Rick was backing this...

In the left behind series, the "forces of the Anti-christ" is a world government called the Global Community which is indeed made up of many Christians and includes nearly every country including America, Canada and Europe.

The nations who resist are Britain, some Americans, and Egypt.

The books focuses on a small Christian resistance group called the "Tribulation Force."

From the link on the first page...

The game rewards children for how effectively they role play the killing of those who resist becoming a born again Christian.

By definition, that means they will also be rewarded for killing those who are not yet part of the anti-christ's followers because once someone willingly receives 'the mark', they cannot be saved anyway. It's suggesting that people who have not yet chosen a side will be given the choice of Christ or death...at the hands of humans.

If the game is anything like OP article says, then its a pretty far cry from the book series that I read. But as one poster above mentioned, the OP artical sounds highly sensationalistic.

None of the reviews from normal game sites I've read mentions anything like that. The "violence" is sounds like normal RTS combat.

if you don't like killing the infidels, you can play as the anti-christ... and blow away Christians!

Cool, I'm in.

Shame and fatigue.

While it is a sad day for Christianity, it's not really a sad day for America, and it didn't seem like something I would say about a violent video game, but I did, so I must be tired.

That is sick. Why do you wish to kill off ANY religeon? If not for many religeons then this world would be VERY backwards:

No care for the elderly or the sick (Given by Christianity),
A dent in our literature from ancient times (Given by Islam),
No long-term family records (Given by Christianity)
Less amazing culture from the Middle East (Givn by Judaism).

If you eliminate religeon, then humankind would take a step BACK.
