Left Behind: Eternal Forces

Sounds like a smear campaign. I can't imagine Rick Warren going anywhere near something like this.

A smear campaign that the LA Times would be participating in?

They have quotes from the distributors.

A smear campaign that woudl officially change the name of Bonanza Gold Inc to Left Behind Games?
read the SEC filing from the article.... (BTW, Bonanza Gold used to be an online game company, making little flash type games)

A smear campaign that had one of Left Behind's authors, Jack Thompson, a conservative Christian attorney and outspoken critic of video game violence, who told the Los Angeles Times that he severed ties with his publisher in a dispute over "Left Behind: Eternal Forces."?

And as the article says:

Mark Carver is Executive Director of the Purpose Driven Church, and therefore works directly for Mr. Warren in one of the most senior roles in his empire. It would seem unlikely that Mr. Warren, who plans an international stealth evangelism campaign that already includes the president of Rwanda, is unaware of this project, the biggest Christian video game in history.

I don't put anything past christploiters. remmebr when "the Passion" came out, and they were selling nails/cross spikes on a chain?

Me neither. But what does Rick Warren have to do with anything?

Perhaps we should look for more reliable sources:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/leftbehindeternalforces/index.html?q=Left Behind

Oh no an RTS!! :scared: Sure, their may be some killing, but hardly: a quest to "remake America as a Christian theocracy" or "kill[ing] Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays".

EDIT: From Gamespot: "As you'd expect, you'll be encouraged to do good while playing the game, but you may also do evil, as well. Like many real-time strategy games, Eternal Forces features a variety of resources that you need to accumulate to build units. One of these resources is your spiritual rating, which measures how good or evil you are. If your troops kill civilians and innocents, your spiritual rating drops, and if it drops too much, you may see your units defect (each unit has his or her own spiritual rating), and if drops too far, demons will show up. While demons are incredibly powerful units, they're uncontrollable and capable of turning on you as well as the enemy. On the other hand, if you do good (by building churches), your spirit rating will rise, and angels may appear to help you out. This idea of consequences, as well as rewards and punishments, reinforce the game's sense of morality."

Rik Warren would have too much to lose by backing something like that.

I'll agree, this statmenet, and many statements in the article are biased and sensationalist.

However, one of your priorities is to go through the city, and "convert" secularists, so they will fight with you.

It is, because it is a game based on bigotry.

Historically honest in a way though, Christians were fairly warlike in the past and churches weren't averse to advising kings to go to war for the churches own political reasons. I could tell you of a number of wars that were incited by the church for purely non religous reasons just to make it clear I'm not talking about the crusades, man if God was in our corner on those ones he had afunny way of showing it. Another glorious reason why the church should avoid politics like the plague and stick to what it does best, religous persecution and intolerance:lol: j/k

He's the writer of the purpose driven life, and the purpose driven church, and the purpose driven <insert something here>, as well as the purpose driven life diary, 40 days of purpose bible studies, etc etc Very popular in a lot of churches. Sold millions of copies.

 Good God (no pun intended)!!

I figured this thread was going to be about the Left Behind series of books. What a shockingly abhorrent game. Here's hoping it tanks gloriously.

That is what the game is based on.

You play as the Tribulation Force against the Potentate and his evil henchmen.

The graphics look really bad for an FPS.

It's an RTS unfortunately...I was hoping for an FPS but meh okay. Any form of mass murder suits me.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!

:crazyeye: WOW... That sounds like a game that I would make.

I won't play it, but the idea is amazingly brilliant, if not very crazy! I think that they should change the gun into a flower cannon, "Spread the love of God to those horrible h8t3rs" they would say...

If you like this type of stuff, I can recommend "This Present Darkness" as rather good.
