what i hate more than this nationalistic talk about Poland (im not taking either side just saying the quantity) is how everyone thinks Americans are dumb fat @$$es that dont know anything. I'm American, and happen to be pretty intelligent for a 12 year old boy. It's fine if you watch those youtube videos about how (here comes the keyword) some Americans are stupid, just don't take from that video that all Americans aren't smart.

Saying Americans cant find America on a map is stupid btw.. the problem with Americans in general isn't that they are stupid you don't run the world when your stupid it's that Americans are detached from the outside world, most don't care about world affairs we just live our lives and let the government worry about the rest.

Now you're not being reasonable. Maybe America doesn't run the world, but it undoubtably has greater influence on it than any other country, regardless whether it is good or bad. This fact alone suggests that there must be some pretty smart people in America, maybe not majority, but still.

I agree. I find it sad that people like him say that. I'm an American, I care. And I don't care about Paris Hilton. Any generalization about Americans is full of bull. We're all different, as with every nationality.

Jesus Christ...WTH are you talking about? We're smart, we have a large millitary, but seriously, this America is the superior country of the world crap is bull. Russia and China are still around. China could kick our asses with broom sticks. Please, don't keep on saying that we're the superior race. That's what it sounds like to me. We haven't influenced any other countries to make a major change in this world. Is Iraq now a democracy with medical care and education systems? Is there peace in the middle east? When that is done you can tell me we are the most influential country on Earth.

Actually, the USA probably is the most influential country in the world (in modern times). Think about it: the Cold War, a staring contest between two superpowers, America (representing capitalism) and the USSR (representing communism) - and America won. That alone proves that it has had a major influence on the world, more so than Russia, anyway. China is economically/militarily strong, but more countries nowadays embrace an American way of life than a Chinese one, which suggests that the USA has been more influential than China (so far).

And 0R4NG3 didn't say anything about Americans being the 'superior race'. Please don't suggest things like that, it leads the argument nowhere but bad places.

Ahaha, now we can finally say what we want about Poland.

But that's just the thing... I do consider pop culture to be a cultural influence. Hollywood movies, pop and rap music, those terrible programmes on the Disney Channel, they're all examples of American cultural influence. The Simpsons is popular worldwide; didn't they make an Arabic version for al-Jazeera? Even in the middle east, there are snippets of American culture.

Regarding infrastructre/economy: this was adressed in post #548. America was the representative of capitalism, and capitalism, through having a greater influence (as well as other reasons, obviously), won over communism. This is a way in which America has influenced the world in a more important way.

what made me lose respect for American culture a long long time ago (though i still respect it as a nation, not the culture anymore), was things like this from my friends, things i see all over the place: just simply taking so many things for granted. i mean, in America, seriously, even the homeless are pretty well off, because at least they can get food from trash cans. its better than nothing.

and i see entire meals uneaten thrown into the trash. how kids laugh at some starving kid on a TV ad, just because he looks funny. how they buy piles of toys without even touching them. sure, all powerful people indulge, but i don't think they are to the level of Americans.

no other culture has its newspapers waste time on people like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears instead of more important stuff, good or bad, like developments in science or in the Iraq War.

that, i think, is the problem with America. it just takes things for granted sometimes.

perhaps this is just because it is a power. perhaps this is what the world is supposed to turn into.

well, in the end, America is THE power, and i feel that it is... understandable for them to feel proud of it. they deserve to. at least the people on these forums don't compare to people i've met, so that's fine.

Zulu is in because they need to touch the black market and if you lived in America and were in touch with the community you'd know that the Zulu are well known and respected.

I'm not even sure it was to touch the market more, I'm white and all I do is play the Zulu they are downright badass especially Shaka.

Well, if there was Poland added I'd still play the other leaders, just because two last leader traits-combo left are Ch+Cre and Pr+Or (apart from Ind+Phi) and the game is about being specific, just giving players more options to play. From those two only Ch+Cre is something near to any Polish leader, and actually - from my point of view it constitutes either for being lame or just military rushing with whipped units in early stages. Washington's current (jeez, he had like two refurbs) Ch+Exp would be closer one.
Actually, I'm still at my peaceful builder stage, and I tried to play aggressive only with Stalin, Tokugawa, Boudica and Churchill/Native America so far. It's funny, I've never played Monty, Gengis and Shaka.

And I'm happy with those leaders and civ's which came with BtS: especially Portugal (like the music ), Dutch, Khmer (I had lectures about Cambodia and Khmer Rouge and I think that Cambodians had in some ways similiar history to ours) and leaders like Pericles (very synergetic with overall Greek tactic) or Sulaiman.

I agree with whatever Tortilla says for now on.
