Really, I don't want to be a part of a smear campaign against the President during the last week of the campaign. We have now received news that an admiral has been relieved of duty related to the Benghazi event. More troubling, allegations that a General was relieved simply for spinning up a relief force during the Benghazi attack.

There has to be some unwarranted allegations being made but there is truth out there. What I am asking for here is that the members here post information as they find it so that we can judge with facts.

Here is an allegation that I can't confirm:

General Carter Ham of US Africa Command was relieved of duty within minutes of disobeying an order to standown his efforts to lauch a relief effort for those under siege at the Benghazi compound.

We do know that Ham has been replaced by General David Rodriguez in advance of his scheduled March 13 end of tour.

With an admiral also now having been sacked, it appears that our military was on the verge of mutiny over decisions made, which have been characterized as a decision to leave Ambassador Steven and other Americans to die.

Where and what is the truth and who made those decisions. Help uncover the truth.

It looks to me that what happened is this:

The State Department knew that protests were planned on 9-11 in several locations, linked to the video.

When the events unfolded, decision makers assumed the action at Benghazi was a protest rather than a terriorist attack. During the action, professionals such as General Ham and the two Navy seals recognized that it was an attack and acted appropriately. The Seals were killed. Ham relieved from duty. Essentially placed under arrest.

Its is reasonable to conclude that the decision makers, probably State and White House officials, were concerned with preventing the military from attacking protestors. Thus over ruling our professional military that was simply doing its duty. For its part, the CIA says they did not tell anyone to standown, but we don't yet know what their assessment was during the event and CIA may be guilty of failing to provide an honest opinion.

Sometimes the information that goes up the ladder is tailored to fit the desires of those on the top rather than the facts on the ground.

This is the impression I am getting.

So Admiral Stennis carrier group located in the West Pacific on Sep 11th tried to launch a rescue attempt to the Africa, but Obama being a person who knows actual geography decided that crashing a whole bunch of helicopters packed with marines into the ocean was a bad idea. Decided to order a stand down ?

The Stennis group arrived in the Fifth Fleet’s area of operations on Oct. 17 to replace the USS Enterprise

Please read the article. The Stennis was in the West Pacific on Sept. 11 and did not arrive in the 5th Fleet Operational Area until October 17, more than a month after the Behghazi attack. Adm. Gaouette was not in the vicinity of Libya and thus had nothing to do with any decisions.

Adm. Gaouette obviously objected to the rules of engagement that exist in the Middle East theatre, namely, putting the feelings of Muslims above the lives of Americans, until after the election, when Obama will have more flexibility.
