Lightbulbs?

Well I recently started using more great persons for lightbulbing but have a hard time figuring out what actually determines which techs are available for a certain GP to lightbulb.

So: Is there any post somewhere here with a bit of specific about it? Is the lightbulbing preference for each GP based on the "flavors" described in the tech XML? And is there a more easily human-readable list of flavors if that's the case?
