LINESII- Into the Darkness- Part III

You'll have to work on that. Guangfei has several notable subcultures, Hon Chei in the West, Qingdao in the East, Shangei in the South and Guangfei in the north.

OOC: But subcultures don't get in the way of "ethnicities"! Genetically Northern and Southern Chinese are quite different with almost every province having their own sub-cultures; yet we still recognize ourselves and each other as Han (the few minorities aside) *continues on blabbing*

So, what are the differences between Hon Chei, Qingdao, Shangei and Guangfei that are so divisive and prevent me from reaching general cultural unity as in OTL China? ;)

"The few minorities" are quite a bit more than that in China, and certainly were a lot more than that, both in terms of identity and numbers, until Communist rule. Given that this seems to be in the equivalent of the 1200s or so (for China/Guangfei, though not for the world as a whole), the existing minorities in China/Guangfei should be both common and powerful in distinction of identity.

OOC: Nevermind, I should know better.

I didn't know someone took interest in my country.....
I did. National frustration with Fwiglo not taking the utmost advantage of its opportunities led one man to take matters into his own hands. :D

I already brought it up with Iggy. I guess my efforts didn't deserve mention in the update.
Sorry Thlayli, but I do have to make a stand on late orders or else no one will take the loose deadlines I set seriously. I did your domestic things, though now that I recheck the orders, I forgot to donate your galleys and triremes to the merchants. I can do that next turn, if you mention it in your orders.

... mmf. According to Darkening, I forgot something important - namely the update.

Most sincere apologies. And, I'm going to have to withdraw. This was a blast while it lasted, but unlike summertime I've much more on my plate... yadda, yadda. Don't carve apart Syracia too fast, now.

Iggy, you have a PM.
Sorry to see you go LBaeldeth. Though my next update won't be until the summer, so you may be able to rejoin and play then.

Basically, you have a few subcultures, ethnically similar, but people who are proud of their own individual histories and cultures. Which are all tied together into the nation of Guangfei.

Guangfei is traditional core culture.

Qingdao is Mercantile and strongly influenced by Valin ideals.

Hon Chei is largely agrarian, with a rich, powerful and cosmopolitan class living in the coastal cities.

Shangei is proud of its independent history, though it still remains a loyal part of the Guangfei nation and culture.

The Hiutu recognizes the great empire to our North and welcomes it to peace. We send twenty-five Rozan slaves to your court as a gift, and asks for a trade agreement.

I enjoy how the Conquerers of Magland are now the slaves. Like pennies and Jews, pennies and Jews... j/k

We accept your gift and would like to tell our counterpart in Hiutu that the Throne does not concern itself with the petty matters of trade though trade will of course occur. (OOC: In essence, trade will not be "officialized" but will still occur due to private individuals.)

If Zamdar is under blockade how do I still have trade centres? are they focused on interior trade now?

To Veritas
from Zamdar

It would greatly put the councils mind at ease if you would sign a NAP with us. Bordering such a warmongering country is greatly disturbing, especially when you are rather quiet on the recent change of circumstances in Azulia.

We will consider your request, though we are not happy with your conquest of Arcadia. Will you allow freedom of religion to Oneist followers within your lands?

To Valin Republic of Veritas

Of course they will have freedom of religion, just as the Divotheists, Crystalists and even New Eldists can worship as they please.

Not all red dots are trade centers, they are eco centers (IE: Production, not trade). You also have a lot of interior trade going on, and Ardan is having an increasingly difficult time at maintaining the blockade.

OCC: Very Nice Update! Went a lot better then I expected. Kentharu, blame Luckymoose who largely kept me in the dark on what was going on plus his refusal to allow me to grow.

From Croyodon
To Gorin

Our war is to save our people from a stagnated destiny. We have no intention to destroy the state of Gorin but to save it from itself. In the aftermath of this war our people's destiny will be much greater then it was before.

From The Gorinese Empire
To Croyodon

Save it from itself? How dare you try to judge such a thing for us. It is not your place, nor has it ever been your place to decide what was best for the Gorinese Empire. Withdraw immediately.

If you secure some sort of peace treaty with the Union of Ardan, we will agree on your NAP, and open our ports to ships from your lands.

-gag-.......
