Update 28- Years 1800 to 1840: Omens
Yathai continues to expand its holdings on the great island to their southwest. Plans are being drawn up for great ships which may someday traverse the boundless seas surrounding the archipelago, like the great Viski Lasi did centuries ago.
Syracia’s ongoing troubles with Ida’an’i’i are beginning to alleviate. Kind treatment and shipments of supplies for the civilians have swayed many to their side. Word is beginning to spread to the other islands, and the dominance of the Pirate Kingdoms may be growing threatened.
(-2 Separahs)
Kelios, with some help from Syracia, continued its desparate fight against the Tsayan and Divotheist invaders. However, the enemy’s numbers continued to grow.
A slight sigh of relief was breathed when Klishin returned home to Tir Tairngire, to pay respects to and succeed his late father. However, the Chancosanx army was further reinforced, and continued to press onwards. Brutal back and forth fighting in the Vale of Kelios raged- Kelios superior military technology was closely matched by Chancosanx’ great size advantage (though the Knives and Plows militia of Kelios provided a large meat shield which helped even the scales furtheer).
Kelios received its big break, however, when the Tsayan force helping the invaders in the siege of the city of Kelios suddenly betrayed the Divotheists. They smashed apart thousands of troops before being halted, then thrown back out of the Vale. At the same time as this battle, Kelios sent its forces to help further damage the Chancosanx and Tuatha armies. While surviving fairly intact, a retreat was forced, and the siege of Kelios was lifted briefly, while forces were redistributed from fighting Kelios to fighting Tsaya.
However, the numerical advantage of the Divotheists’ professional army continued to be their trump card. A call for volunteers went up in the homeland, and more militia joined the holy war against Kelios. A renewed assault fell upon the vale and the lands around it, and Kelios once again fell back. Worse, Justok Nictuma’s army was becoming increasingly adept at dealing with Kelios’ cavalry.
After nearly a year of starvation, the second siege of Kelios was successful, and the city fell into Divotheist hands. The Chancosanx advance then began a proper eastward drive, though it was running out of energy. Its forces were depleted, supply lines were growing difficult, and the home economy was suffering from maintaining an army in enemy territory. The advance made it nearly to Mard, before stalling in the face of enemy cavalry in even terrain. Aldis is besieged, but even better-supplied and defended than Kelios was. Meanwhile, a group of Tsayans different from those fighting the Divotheists launched ‘attacks of liberation’ into eastern Kelios from the north. So far, these have had little serious effect, as most of the Tsayans in Kelios are assimilated, and the forces involved have been negligible in number compared to those on the western front.
At sea, there has been, surprisingly, no fighting. Chancosanx has been cautious, only performing scouting operations, and Kelios is firmly in a defensive stance.
Tir Tairngire is working to spread Divotheism to the occupied regions of Kelios, to minor effect.
Rumours claim that the rift between Tsayan factions has already ignited into warfare between the northern tribes.
It is clear that all forces involved need peace, but whether an acceptable treaty can be hammered out remains to be seen.

Zamdar continues to flourish. Exploration to the north has revealed an arid, rugged land, free for the taking. Several rivers have also recently flooded to navigability, allowing irrigation and sustainable settlement of the north. This land still has much more to offer, being almost totally unsettled and unexploited.
Increased trade with Terrania, particularly Khemri, has brought great wealth to the city of Adar.

Two thousand Zamdar soldiers have moved into the Pirian Oneist region north of Tir Tairngire, to bring it into the nation. However, the locals didn’t want anything to do with this, and resisted. Zamdar, not wishing to start a needless war, has ceased its advance, maintaining control of only those who wish to join their nation.
Some missionary activity has taken place in Tir Tairngire, though the fact that Baneism seems to speak primarily of the ascendance of a different nation to rule the world, it has had little effect.
Tir Tairngire, while enjoying military success against Kelios, has experienced serious troubles with, surprise surprise, the Pirian Oneists. While a large part of the army was fighting in Kelios, Ardan landed a force of several thousand at Shae da Dale. The heir of Chief Connall commanded a force of a thousand Pirian Tuatha alongside the invaders.
A small defensive force of Chief Klishin was destroyed at the Battle of Shae da Dale, and the invaders rapidly approached Murias. A large defensive militia was called up, and the advance ground to a halt just short of the capital.
While the war remains stagnant, many are beginning to talk of an end to the internecine warfare. Perhaps Tir Tairngire can support both faiths, Pirian Oneism and Divotheism, living together. Perhaps there could be two states. The doorway for negotiations is present, should either side be brave enough to open it.

Ardan has sent a small force to reassert its control over Orum, but the force is not large enough to stop the powerful Orumo rebellion movement. However, it has prevented complete secession, at least for the moment.
A much larger force was sent to deal with the Bladeist Tellusian Peresofo. While its residents swore that they had no violent intentions, Ardan invaded anyway. The settlers put up a surprisingly strong resistance, but there’s only so much one can do against overwhelming numbers- the defenders were crushed and their lands occupied. Then, the Swade settlers of Peresofo were given a terrible choice: Convert to Oneism, or be banished from Azulia and sent to Otaria.
The group split up roughly evenly. But while one part is now in Otaria, and the other is living under a new faith, both still carry the dream of Peresofo close to their hearts.

Malereficar, suffering from decades of poor leadership, has back into the various nomadic tribes which it was born from. Centuries from now, the frozen ruins of Shagh’Seb-Eyl and the Anesh the Servitor’s Temple will become a great curiosity and subject of confusion to anthropologists.

The traditionalist northern lands of Gamorrea, growing ever more disgusted with the ‘bastard faith’ of Gorrahnism, have rebelled against the southern government, resulting in some losses in the early battle against the rebels and the defection of many units from the Gamorrean Cavalry.
(-500 Takil-Gorrahn (KIA), -2500 Horse Archers, -500 Axemen (Defected))
The possibility of peace in the Fairhelt war has dissolved, as Gamorrea and the Iron Faces continued their advances. While Gamorrea made a small advance then stopped, the Iron Faces continued their movement into Fairhelt. King Arok II desperately began conscription, but the discontent peoples of his empire refused, and broke away. Throughout the periphery of the empire, lands fell away, leaving only the center of the former nation under Arok’s control.
Surprisingly, this made things more difficult for the Iron Faces. The defenders of these new microstates were much more willing to give their lives for their new independence than they were for an inept and distant ruler. Strong defenses and attrition (the Iron Face manpower being very limited, even with the new Merhai troops) eventually forced the Iron Faces to halt the advance and focus on building up their new nation, the Iron Face Republic.
Croyodon continues to develop and swell. Its population is on the rise, and its territory is growing rapidly in the north. However, it is, despite its government’s best efforts, becoming overextended. An efficient system of roads to hold the nation together and make its unwieldy representative government more functional is dearly needed.
Croyodon’s new Elect, Praticon (a former general) has set his nation in a firmly anti-Lengel stance, though he has not acted on this yet. He has also set out to take all of the remaining empty lands in the north.
Khemri, finally free of war with the Valins, has put its considerable and advanced navy to work. Several voyages of exploration have been sent into both the Kaosian and Exodian seas. Distant pieces of land have been found in both seas, though attempts to set up trading posts failed due to the colossal distances involved.
However, two small trading posts have been successfully founded near the far-southern lands of Destre and Envia.
The White Marble city of Veritas has been rebuilt to much of its former splendour by Khemri. Pilgrimage to the city is beginning to pick up, and some day it may once again be a great religious center. But for now, it remains a small city in the ruins of something that was once much greater.
King Dysonis II was a particularly active king, but he nonetheless carried all of the burdens of the dynasties before him. And seeing Oneist rebels take lands in the vassal-state of Kalmar once again broke the last thread of the long-suffering patience of Khemri. Convinced that the vassal system would not work, he decided to take over Kalmar’s previous job and annex the rebellious areas outright.
The Knight, protégée of the late Void, led the campaign. Commanding a typically massive Khemri force, he smashed into Kerania. Servei Karseyn, leader of Kerania, had put together a formidable defense, which held out for some time. Khemri’s light cavalry and infantry failed to break through the Duality Pass, but The Knight’s forces broke the standoff on the Kalmar/Keran border and besieged the capital of Keranopolis.
Quickly, Khemri smashed away resistance, even taking out the Duality pass from the East. With only the capital remaining, Karseyn felt the last hope of victory fade away. It would not be he who would at long last liberate the Kerans. Not desiring to see the death of further countrymen, he parleyed with the Knight and surrendered himself, in exchange for amnesty for his people. The remainder of his command structure swore to never again raise arms against Khemri.
(-Kerania, -500 Khemri Horse Archers, -5000 Militia, -2000 Royal Guards, -500 Kalmar Axemen)
Following victory in Kerania, The Knight moved his combined force into Hugion territory in the uplands of Davar. While the Hugions put up a spirited guerilla defense, attempting to wear down the invaders and prey on their supply lines, The Knight simply commanded too many troops to be resisted. Their newly-built capital city of Hugi, named after the cultural hero rebel who started the independence movement, was captured.
However, this was by no means the ends of the Hugions. Baron Faldin, their de facto leader, led his people north, into lands of the Citadel. This realm was now completely empty, with only a few holdouts remaining. With the arrival of the Hugions, these last Citadelers metaphorically handed over the keys, and left to parts unknown.
Baron Faldin quickly established control over all regions of the former Citadel of Knowledge. While all of the valuables and artifacts were gone, all of the structures and lands remained. Once all of the lands were secured, the Hugions began to settle down. Faldin announced the foundation of the Barony of the Hugions (though most simply refer to the nation as Hugion), to the great joy of his people.
The Knight, not completely sure if the lands to his north were considered to be of the Citadel or not, halted his advance in order to wait for orders from the King.
However, he would never receive any further orders from Dysonis II- for while his best general was away, a coup was thrown.
The various nobility figures were growing fearful of Dysonis’ centralization of the government. They were very unwilling to give up the power given to them, unwilling enough to force some to violence.
The King was stabbed by assasins hired by several lords while at his winter palace in Kehexou. Soon afterwards, the rest of his immediate relatives disappeared.
The Prince of Kehexou and closest remaining relative of Dysonis, Erias, was crowned King of Khemri. Erias was a rather weak man, and essentially a puppet of the men who had orchestrated Dysonis’ assassination. Already under his reign, more power has been vested into the lower tiers of government.
It remains up to The Knight if he will accept the new rulers, or throw the nation into civil war to restore a true monarch.
Gorin has begun a massive ‘flood into the north’, encouraging huge amounts of immigration into occupied Lengel lands. Huge infrastructure projects have enabled easy transportation to the north for all.
The Great Libraries of Masra have been completed, strengthening the hold of the religion on the country, and its neighbours. However, the nation’s numerous cracks are growing, despite huge efforts by the Gorinese government to hold them back. Orthodox Crystalism is experiencing a small resurgence, the Nkondi continue to desire their independence, the moderate and increasingly-educated middle class is growing angry at the increasing strength of the Kaiser and Masra Church (denouncing the Kaiser as a Theocrat, holding the Rowanthi’Orti powerless) and the mysterious explosions going off in Gorin’s cities continue unabated.
Basu Oborski IX put almost all of his efforts into holding the country together. He has definitely helped to slow them down, but as of late Gorin is requiring continuous lines of adept leaders to hold it together.
One misstep he has made, however, was moving to end the ‘Emoran situation’ in southeastern Gorin. Thousands of Imperial Gorinese forces descended on the Emoran settlements in ‘Operation Rebel Kill’. While being consistent taxpayers, the Emorans acted like autonomous states within Gorin. There was barely any chance to resist, though the the city of Ciruca managed to put up a brief defense.
(-500 Gorinese Mooseys)
The leaders of the Emoran settlements were declared to be rebels, and were executed after brief trials, which were essentially for show. Outraged, the citizens of Ciruca (where the trials took place) rioted, and were attacked by the Gorinese army. The riot-control got out of hand, and by the end of the day thousands of Emorans were dead, and Ciruca had been pillaged and horrendously damaged.
Frightened into submission, the residents of the second Emoran city (Nova Emora) did not resist as Gorin asserted its control over the region. This control was exemplified by gross misunderstanding of the region’s situation. Order was ‘Restored from a chaotic rebellion’, though the only chaos had been caused by the military and the reacting civilians. Then, the entire area was reorganized, lands were redistributed to ‘jumpstart the economy and gain the people’s trust’. This merely caused confusion, more simmering fury, and the plundering of several rich Emorans’ vaults.
Many of the former residents of the Emoran settlements have fled to Khemri (primarily in Delhi, and the lands north of it), Croyodon, and even Myocaca, spreading tales of Gorinese ‘atrocities’. Others remain in the surviving settlement of Nova Emora, fuming against their oppressors.
The Kaiser is in a very difficult situation now. Pro-government groups and hardline Masra followers support the action, but the moderates are disgusted. Various minority groups throughout the country are on edge, fearing that what happened to the Gerbers, Lengels and Emorans may happen to them next…
Zuoharra is continuing to walk its own path. To strengthen its military, Zuoharra has adopted the flail used by Khemri’s Crystal Knights to be used by its infantry. Additionally, the Academy of Achievements has been completed. In the near future, it shall polish countless skilled minds for Zuoharra.
