LINESII- Into the Darkness

Several mathematicians gestured and argued over the pulling capacity, and the diameter of the wheels. The production had already begun, but several details still needed to be worked out…

Inside a large forge near Kallamas, long metal poles were being welded together. On workbenches nearby, carpenters smoothed the long planks that would make up the highest platforms. Outside, laborers were hammering sheets of bronze into scales. And a massive Nurmaferi Ramid was being pulled out of a docked Bireme, rather stubbornly, as it wasn’t fully trained yet. Things were all finally coming together. The ultimate weapon of Veritas would be unveiled…

---

Stratikrator Cendrian surveyed his army. In the east, he could see the rearguard of the Urban Militia retreating, slowly towards safety. He sincerely hoped they made it to the safety of the fortifications. But his army's own fate was even more in doubt. He had a crucial choice to make...continue on with his risky gamble that could kill them all, or abandon the plan and retreat with the militia?

The Decision of Cendrian was a much discussed essay by a modern scholar, proposing that if Cendrian had retreated instead of launching his attack, the Republic of Veritas would have been defeated in a series of disasterous wars, and would have been succeeded by a series of Zibonese, Kalmarian and pseudo-Valin nations. It was a great work in the early era of alternate history.

Cendrian made his choice. He was a great student of the fighting style of Stratikrator Strategius, the famous soldier-statesman who destroyed Eldrania, whose crusades threatened to engulf the world. Strategius crossed a great mountain range, and so would he. It might be risky, but it would be necessary to ensure that the future world worshipped the One, and not a bunch of rocks. Perhaps they would all die...but they would die with honor.

"Vanalian, give the order to disassemble the towers. We will proceed with the plan. It is time to strike a final blow in this war."

"It shall be done, my lord."

OOC: I'm curious thlayli, why isn't the capitol of Veritas veritas?

I don't think I joined yet :( Oh well, I'll go read it now then :)

Strategius moved a lot of the government, and the Provincial Assemblums, to Kallamas around 800 P.D. He did it for a couple reasons. One was that Veritas needed a centralized capital, and also it was kind of hard to rule the entire Republic from an island.

But Veritas still holds the High Assemblum, and that's the most important aspect of the government. I should write up a summary some time.

No, the update not here yet. But I've done everything but Veritas vs. Khemri, Shalamari and Gorin. Absolutely everything else is done.

Unless I have to leave suddenly, the update'll be done sometime soon.

But don't rush me, I want to update this bit well, as its one of the most critical times of war ever.
