LINESII- Into the Darkness

Uhh the tape of Miss Universe is on...you have an another hour and a half.

Erk. I'll try to do it that fast. I'm done absolutely everything but the the Lengels foreign 'affairs'.

And great story Imago. You captured the essence of Norvalin very nicely.

An Explanation of Norvalin

Part of the reason I write this is to spare some Citadeler a trip to the ends of the earth,

It's okay, we've already been there for decades. ;)

This is probably one of my last absentia messages. In a few days, I'll be in another continent, with very little computer access. Iggy, you didn't interfere with the original Exilsium plans after Cleric joined, did you?

Oh, and Imago: Great story!

As will become more apparent in the coming years, we must remain unified in our foreign conflicts. Though we know you are peaceful by nature, it will be necessary to see this conflict through. The One no longer strides on Tellus, therefore we must be his arbiters. (Diaspora, 3:1)

We apologize for the lack of contact in past years, our mariners are having trouble making the voyage. But we think that a solution to the problem is near. If your sailors were to sail directly south along the coastline, and ours from Exilsium due north, a new sea passage can be created, rather than having to cross the Frozen Strait across the seal country. The League of the Valins might meet in Pax every year, if we can accomplish such a thing. In His footsteps we walk, like a child following his father. (Pacian, 4:5)

We wish to propose an exchange of consuls*, and a defensive alliance. Though we welcome further ties, we caution your ambition. Know who lies upon your borders. We will look for you at Redemption within the year.

you people are so impatient

Very good story, reminding me of my own. An excellant start to what I hope will be a long NESing career.

@Contempt-Thank you. :)

@Lord Iggy-Thank you as well. :D

We will send ships south, as you suggest. The Valin League must be held together at all costs. We will meet you at Pax. But where exactly is Pax? We assume it is in Exilsium, as that is the only nation without labled cites on our world map.

(And your world map as well. Iggy, I know you don't want to fix the city map, but can't you just add the Exilsium cities? There aren't that many, and knowing which city is which would help me quite a bit.)

Indeed, our farseers have announced that war is coming and that the One will return soon. In other words, yeah we'll stick together.

Iggy on writing the most confusing and major war ever in his NESing career:

AAAAAAUGGGHHHHEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHGRRRRAAAAAHHH-uuuuuhhhhhh AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAARRRGGHHH!!!!!!!

!!

Agh!

:twitch:

I'm partway through the biggest and most confusing and contradictory order sets ever. I'm not sure when the update will be done, but I swear, this one's a doozie.

Pax is the northernmost city on the largest Exilsium island.

Porto rico won, how lame. Miss Japan was 10x hotter.

We know. Our apologies. And good luck.

The Last Scrolls of Lord Kaiser Basu Oborski

These black hands. What terror will they bring unto my people. The dear children, the mothers, the fathers. The ones I love so much. With such a careless flick of my wrist, have I sentenced an empire, a thousand years in the making, to its doom. How carelessly I have done this act. This act of the worst betrayal. One of which a leader, dooms his people, to death.

I have, in the course of my rule, done the best that I can do for these lands which I call home. Or so I think, as I sit in a throne, covered in dust and cobwebs. An old throne, perhaps a dead one. And now, as I look into this empty throne room, I wonder, what is the worth of it all. Was it my own impatient mind that now brings my people to this deadly conclusion. I, the Lord, I the one who was chosen by Dula. I, who posses the power of the greatest empire on this planet, to what end have I given. I am not worthy of this post. And I say so, with tears in my eyes and now, as they fall upon this single piece of parchment, perhaps they will leave a stain that will remind those who read it, that this Kaiser, this son of Dula, was a broken man. A shattered soul with a feeble heart, and an arrogant mind.

Strong will, and passion, this is why my father choose me to sit in this throne of ancient power. He was right, he was always right. I grew up in the seclusion of the Kaiser Palace, learning all things, military strategy, sword play, archery, cooking, cleaning even knitting. My father always said “knowledge is power”. Power, is all I sought, through my life. The power to rule over people, absolutely and completely. The power to do as I wished, when I wished. The power to control my own destiny, my own future, my own pitiful life. Is that not what all men wish, to control, to dominate, the conquer! Ah but dead men, they wish for nothing.

Now at the hour of my doom, at the hour of my demise, I can do nothing but sit, and wait. Like all the others, who have fallen, I must sit, and await a horde of fools to come and take that which I never truly posed. I still, through ignorance perhaps, try desperately to cling to it. But it slips and silts, through my hands like sand. Sands that, with each grain, count my end. And what shall I go down in history as? A foolish power hungry man, a beast who doomed his people, a demon. Those that will follow me, they will not know the truth of my struggle, the truth behind this weak man.

It does not matter now, I will carry this carnage out, I will have honor. Perhaps, when historians tinker over these old dusty pieces of parchment, they will note down that I was an honorable man to the end. Perhaps.

ooc my obituary

From the beginning the Assembly had little authority. It was a Veritasian oligarchy and to the majority Zibonese that way of government had obviously led to tragedy. The Assembly had been founded on the notion that a single king, if an unwise ruler, would have no one to stop him from abusing the great power of leadership and leading the nation to disaster, but clearly all those things could be done by committee as well. Besides most Veritans fled into exiled ignoring the numerous opportunities for penance they left in their own war ravaged lands.

In the capitol the Veritans clung to their pride still ridiculously calling the mountaintop city Lux, but most every where else the land was Ebonia again. Out here there were no committees of elders, there were no missionaries, there were no conquering legions; there were warlords, unanswered prayers and bandits.

Sundiata was just one of many. Being a bandit meant he was also a thief and probably a murderer as well, but he was also a just leader, albeit brutal and pragmatic.

Why should he continue fighting his own people over their scraps and rags while the nation’s real wealth was carted off by Shalamarians through the lush farmlands of Khemria?

It would be a mistake to call Sundiata a rebel or a nationalist, but to the beleaguered people of eastern Tellium he was just and generous so that mistake was often made. And in deference to his pragmatic nature he let them make it.

Good luck on the update Iggy...

While I am tempted to launch the ravenous NAO hordes (primarily Kurdish and Swiss peasants) on your pantry, I suppose extracting the details of the update from your dead soul would be difficult and messy.

So yeah, good luck with the update Iggy!

EDIT: Hey 1889, any chance of some diplo feedback? Good story, though the Zibonians aren't really a majority, probably just a really large minority.

Thanks and lets just say the exodus changed the domographics a great deal.

P.S. I PMed you days ago about this. Sheesh

All righty then. Couldn't hurt to read the stories I posted about Lux a while back, during the crushing of the Zibonese Rebellion.

Excellent, we await your envoys. Perhaps your alliance can later be integrated into the League of the Valins...if certain criteria are met.
