Swordsmen don't carry extraordinarily heavy shields around for no good reason. They'd have been slaughtered for other reasons, namely that they couldn't move. Iron Age does not equal Rome, considering that iron was developed around 1200 BCE.

My pathetic attempt for a flag...

Treaty of Wardash said:
map4rx8.png

1: The immediate cessation of hostilities between Gorin and Lengel.

2: The removal of all Gorin from East of the Wardash, and the removal of all Lengel from West of the Wardash.

3: Lengel will never expand West past the Wardash, and Gorin will never interfere with Lengel affairs.

4: A permanant Non-Agression Pact, which will be honored fully between both peoples.

Thus it is spoken, thus it shall be.

Lengelzai Duua the Blind, the Wise.

((Well, I love it when some unexpected things happen that help me greatly...))

To New Vertis:
At this Time, no, We will not remove it. For we need it to use as a Millitary Port to Continue Our Explorations of the Sea. due to your hostility Toward us, we can not Make use of your Ports.

though, as a consesion, we are Quite willing to hand It over to you free of charge once you Expand Down south. Infact, the very southernmost tip currently visible seems to be the best place to locate it, and we might just up and move it there in the near future.

OOC:
Ahhrgh. this puts my nationin a choice position.. what to do, what to do... the Conflict to the south I can rightfully say I have no part of, but the one to west.. *sigh*

From the Gorinese Empire
To the Lengel Horde

Lord Kaiser Dashada Oborski here by signs the Treaty of Wardash.

CC: the International Community

Gorin here by withdraws all contacts and emmisaries from all nations, except from Croyodon and Skilv'so.

ooc effectively i will only talk to those two, if you want to make any official contact with me, then do it through them.

From Tellium
To New Veritas

We have no idea what logic lead you to attempt framing us for your attack on Gorin or what you could have conceived our reaction would be, but let us state clearly that we are profoundly disappointed with your perfidy. Please make note that the defensive alliance we so recently signed is utterly void.

As for your consuls, a welcome is out of the question as they will be lucky simply to avoid the greater part of suspicion at this point. Still they will be allowed so that your representative may make an apology in person.

May truth find you,
Assemblum Popularum Tellium

We humbly Request Premission to use you City of Farport as a base of operations for our Fleet in thier Exploration of the seas. we will happly share all knowlage we gain in such explorations with you, in exchange for said permision.

To New Vertis.
Due to Recent events, we wish to place a book in your Pocession to ensure it survives the comming Events. for we are not sure Emor will survive the coming years. This book will.. Be critical to the survial of Oneisum. In them is an Explination of our Actions in the last war. and any and all future actions we are about to take. Do not read it untill we are gone though. Please.

Testudo formation? That's pretty much impossible with a Phalanx formation, so I don't see how they could manage to use it.
emu's right. Phalanx, in Shalamari's case, is the UU name. They have Romanesque shields, with loops that the spear can stick through. They're capable of both formations.

From: New Veritas
To: Swade Soldiers

As promised, we will allow the people of Sintonia to retain their religion, and vote in the Assemblum. Now, we think that you have slightly more pressing matters to the north...
As Swade is temporarily NPCed, I will answer this. The Swades will retreat from New Veritas if these promises are kept. But if they are not... the rejuvinated Swade Ascendancy of the future will be your enemy.

Iggy just tends to make the casulties as even as possible.
Well, I think it was justified in many cases. In the case of the Kehexou/Khemri war, Kehexou would have suffered significantly less casualties had it not been for the militia.

My other reason was that I was very tired.

Well, I must say that militia is no match for professional infantry in melee combat. Their skills are nonexistant, morale poor (unless if they are fanatics) and organisation at the level of a mob. When fighting well-disciplined and trained professional, it's just slaughter - although I can understand if they caused those casulties at the city streets, where professionals can't use the advantage of superior formations.

What comes to horse archers, an army of pure infantry will have serious disadvantage regardless of their testudos and archer support. Quick hit-and-run attacks won't give the enemy enough time to form testudo, and fast horses are difficult targets for enemy archers. True, horse archers are not likely going to beat the enemy in one decisive battle unless if the morale of enemy army is broken and their army routed, but horse archers strenght is in their ability to retreat and to fight on another day.

maybe I'd better just stop ranting about it. But could you still please explain how come I lost 10,000 men when fighting some couple thousand militias?

Because your Sentinels, while better than militias, were not nearly as good as regular troops.

And the nations that got bonuses from militias were Shalamari, Cultural Wonder of the World, and Swade Ascendancy, who are primarily composed of fanatics, or if they aren't they at least act like it.

Agreed, so long as all military forces agree to have their weapons confiscated at the gate and not given back until they leave. Farport, like all of the city, is a place of peace.

OOC: Great update!!!!

Why is Davar still on the map?

Why isn't my northeast exploration shown?

Given that description in the update, shouldn't Farport be a Trade Center?

@Jal about Davar- It's not still on the map, what do you mean?
Those two blue splotches on the Gerber/Kerania border... I guess it might be Tristaria, but still...

And you had to answer the least significant of my three questions, didn't you? :p
