I got the southernmost island in the peace deal with Brazil. At one point they only had their capitol and the town in the northern tundra.

I also like the idea of giving Germany our northmost cities. The only reason I didn't was because of the dye city that was lost in Lee's turn.

It would cost a lot to rush a regular knight up there. I really don't want to waste type of money. We would be better off allying with the Iroquois and getting a cheaper tech out of it. Those nothern tundra cities are worthless to us.
 
I checked out the save and one minor point, two of our size 12 cities have 2 food being wasted. We can squeeze out a couple shields out of Buenos Aires and Mendoza by mining in spots.

I am aware of this (Buenos Aires will not be able to build knights any faster anyway thou)
I just didnt have enough workers available nearby... most workers was tied up clearing jungles or roadingby the front

IBT Germany declares on America. Babylon and Venezuela embargo us. Venezuela declares on Brazil. :)

(1)1060AD: Egypt has some gpt too, so I sell saltpeter for WM+18g+13gpt.

Kill some units.

IBT Brazil and Zulu MA vs Mongols and Iros. Babylon and India MA vs Iros. India declares on Brazil.

(2)1070AD: Trade Physics to Egypt for Free Artistry.

IBT India/Russia and Babylon MA vs Egypt. Egypt and Songhai declare on China.

(3)1080AD: kill 2 pikemen and capture San Cristobal (size 3).

Kill 2 pikemen and capture 2 settlers. Kill a pike and autoraze Tucupita.

IBT Venezuela and India MA vs Zulu. Iros and Venezuela MA vs China. Zulu and Aztecs make peace.

(4)1090AD:

Kill 3 pikemen and one MDI and raze Cumana. Get 4 slaves and a catapult.

My first elite win gets a leader. I send it back to our core to rush a bank.

Iron deal with Zulu ended, so we need to renew. However, we have only 44gpt and 432g, not necessarily enough for Magnetism.

Good that I find some backward AIs have money.

I sell iron to Egypt for 35gpt+144g.
I sell Free Artistry to America for WM+31gpt.
I sell Physics to Greece for WM+11gpt+5g.

I renegotiate peace with Zulu, and buy Magnetism by iron+115gpt+571g. We hardly made it.

Unfortunately we couldn't reneg peace with Mongols and get Military Tradition. We reneg peace with peace with Russia and trade Magnetism for ToG. We wouldn't be able to do the trade without the peace treaty.

We enter Industrial Ages. The bad news is that Russia gets Medicine, while no other AIs have it.

Sell ToG to Egypt for 28gpt+5g+WM. Money is money.

I switch all taxmen to scientists. We anyway want to buy Steam Power.

IBT India declares on China. Brazil and Zulu MA vs Australia and China. Aztecs and India MA vs China. Greece and India MA vs Brazil. America and Brazil MA vs Greece.

Venezuela drops a swordman next to our junk town in the north.

Aztecs get TM+18g.

India completes Universal Suffrage.

(5)1100AD: dial up Germany and make peace, and gift Victoria to it.

IBT Mongols and India sign MPP. This is really good, as Mongols will then fight China. Australia and India MA vs Egypt. Babylon and Mongols MA vs Brazil.

San Cristobal flips and we lose a pike.
 
Cant we get military tradition from mongols for Magnetism and ToG? or did they pick up ToG?

We can gift germany to IA and give them democracy, navigation, economy (and possibly music theory and MT) for their free tech

Atleast with IA we get more small wonders to rush.. MA, IW(hopefully), Wall street, battlefield medicine, CIA..
 
Are all armies worth a hundred shields if you turn them in? I'm thinking when we finally have enough units to fill the armies, maybe it's worth cashing a sword army in, then replacing it with a gaucho army once we get MT and another leader.

Hmm, I am not sure if that'd be enough for a IA tech, and the bad thing is that if it needs gpt we'd have to wait after the peace treaty ends (unless we reneg peace with India and trade gpt for enough lump sum, which is too risky to be practical). But we can try it with Greece.
 
I would try first with Greece, and then we have an IA tech to bargain with Germany with. I would do it. Plus if we get nationalism or Medicine, we could make a killing in trading it around.

I believe we were just up democracy of the optional techs on greece at end of my turns.. that wont be enough for any IA techs..

Democracy, navigation and economics should be worth more than the first lvl IA techs.. I usually get monopoly steam or medicine for similar deals from backwards civs in my solo games.. but then I usually have good rep so i can add gpt if needed...

Hopefully russia didnt sell medicine yet.. but I suspect they did.. it should have been done the turn they got it so we could have gotten medicine and sold it to india for huge gpt :p

There is really a bad thing. Greece landed a hoplite which totally blocks our way to Brazil's capital.

I found two towns to claim two more silks and one more saltpeter.

Declare on Brazil.

IBT: Egypt and Zulu MA vs Mongols and America. Russia and India MA vs Brazil. Aztecs and Brazil embargo us. Babylon and Songhai make peace. Russia demands silks, and I decline. She backs off. India and Persia MA vs Russia, but then India immediately declares on Persia.

Kill 2 spearmen and capture Porto Alegre.

Our peace treaty with America ended and I stop the payment of iron+103gpt, and get 50g+WM.

Russia lacks iron now but unfortunately we cannot reneg peace.

I gift Germany to IA and it gets Medicine. Trade Democracy+Navigation+Economics for that. Unfortunately India has got Medicine.

Medicine isn't enough for Steam Power from Zulu or Persia, with which we already have ongoing peace treaties. I sell Magnetism to Greece for 58gpt.

I sell Magnetism to Egypt for 337g. Sell Medicine to Songhai for WM+4g+133gpt+gems (yeah, do not underestimate backward AIs. Sometimes they got big money).

I reneg peace with India and trade 322gpt (all our gpt) for 5636g+MA vs Brazil. It has some risk so we would be at war with India after Brazil is gone, but we don't fear too much anyway.

Buy Steam Power from Persia for Medicine + 3334g. sell Medicine to Zulu for Military Tradition+712g.

I gift Greece to IA, and it gets Nationalism! I trade Medicine+Steam+Democracy+Military Tradition for it. This is really nice, as Persia and Russia lack it.

I sell Nationalism to Russia for Industrialization+WM+780g+16gpt. Nationalism to Persia for 3340g to get our money back.

With the money I establish embassies with some big AIs.
China: Beijing is size 10, 38spt building cav every 2 turns. It has 5 lux. No coal. Guarded by 6 riflemen and 1 cav. It's at war with the world bribed by India. Its power has been shrinking a bit (Beijing is next to a Mongolian city).
Persia: Persepolis is size 12, 23spt building cavalry. Guarded by 4 musketmen. 4 lux and all strat resources.
Mongol: Karakorum is size 12, 21spt building cavalry. 7 lux but no coal. Guarded by 4 musketmen.

We have coal at Portelaza (west to the slave) but unconnected. There is another source close to the unclaimed horses (see below). We need to claim it asap.

To next leader: we are catching up in tech. India is clearly the tech leader but I've not seen ToE message yet.

The Greek hoplite will hopefully retreat from the choke and we can then finish Brazil off (it's their last city). Remember to move armies off Porto Alegre next turn to avoid flip.

There is also an Aztec MDI/settler pair as shown in the screenshot. I'm blocking its way.

After that we'll be at war with India as the MA is broken. India might bribe others to declare on us, which we don't really care too much. The only thing is it might bribe Aztecs before we are ready, so we could delay killing off Brazil a bit.

We have a settler that could settle the choke point next turn (if we kill the pike).

We have 6700g in bank that we could use to upgrade our forces. We do not need to upgrade those military police, but we do need some riflemen at the choke before we start the war. Once it starts, our armies could form a "Channel of Doom" to make every Aztec unit to lose hp due to Zone of Control. It might also be a good idea to get a railnet before that.

There is still a Venezuela pike and a Brazilian spear at our border. Watch out.

I started min research on Sanitation.

Oh, don't forget we can start our GA once we have our UU (which is really just a normal cavalry AFAICS). Perfect time for some factory build.

I started some factories but feel free to change builds.

I think it's time for 5-turn per player now.
 
I had a a quick look at the save.. we have 2 iron works locations..
San Juan: slave will finish roading coal there in 2 turns.. but it has ****ty production..

Formosa: Once the aztec peaceoffer town is gone, it will pick up a coal.. and will have massive production.. I suggest building IW here.

It may be worth rushing the palace a couple cities north to lower the corruption in this area.. the southern cities will still be relatively close to the FP
