LK134 - Native Americans, Donut map, Monarchy

New Updates
It does look like the time to hire the second scientist in Mound City. In addition, we need to pick something better the Christian missionaries in that city. That city is all income and needs to whip thinks like markets and universities.

Once we research liberalism we need to back fill techs such as drama.

Win target: open

Planned wars - Roosevelt is waiting in the wings.

I have had it with GP that get wasted due to being asleep. A new LK houserule #9 goes into effect immeidately.

The following tactics are PROHIBITED:

There are no exploits that I am aware of at this time.

Standard LK house rules:
1) Worker automation is prohibited.

2) A go to order is only allowed if you turn summary warns that it is happening and explains why. Sometimes it is just too important to make sure those reinforcements don't get sent to the wrong place.

3) Please complete your turn. At most the next player should have one unmoved unit such as a settler where you are unsure of its direction. A stack that is fortified counts as completed. The game should be sitting ready to hit end of turn with very little left to move.

4) Don't edit your game results into a previous post. There is no notification of new activity. I have had SGs stalled waiting thinking I was waiting for a person to move, when they already did.

5) The use of the auto-logger is prohibited for the body of your report. You may include it as a spoiler tag. SGs are about writing up enough information so that the team understands where you are going. The auto-logger clearly fails in this regard. Knowing the details doesn't show the big picture. SGs need the big picture.

6) SGs are about cooperative team play. If you aren't willing to discuss plans before and / or after your turn, then the LK series isn't for you.

7) Major wars shouldn't be declared without a team consensus. Clear phony wars gain diplomatic favors are ok. The phony war when you declare on an AI on another continent or a last place civ. A war of opportunity to grab one or two cities from an AI getting trashed is OK. Going after the #1 civ unplanned is what I want to stop.

8) If you disagree with a dot map plan, discuss *before* playing you turn.

9) Putting GP asleep is expressly prohibited. The only circumstance that it is allow is when the team has *already* agreed to save the GP for a golden age. GG may never be put to sleep.
In addition, GP aren't to be saved until the next players turn. If you don't know what to do with them, then either pass the game over early, or pause the game and consult the team.

10) I reserve the right to refuse players whom IMHO failed to play in the spirit of cooperation. Declaring an unexpected major war is a high risk that you will go on this list. Excessive personal attacks against other players guarantee a ban from the LK series.

I realize rule 10 is a bit harsh, but I can tell too much infighting will put the LK series back on hold.

Inherited turn: start working some cottages instead of grassland forests, also try to slow down growth in some of our cities working some more mines for production since we already have a happiness problem, drama would have been great to have.

Turn 1: IBT saladin completes shwedagon paya, joao the hagia sophia

Turn 2: IBT ramesses wants education. no way. Gandhi gets a great engineer. Christianity in New York. Notice that as Mound city grew on size it totally overran my management, rehire two scientists. Start march on Atalanta and Washington

Turn 3: IBT Gandhi completes Sistine chapel.

Turn 4: IBT slave revolt in Cahokia. In need of gold to fund our research I make these two trades:

Turn 5: Cahokia starts University we have enough troops to take out the americans

Turn 6: Liberalism in. Hard pick nationalism is not a monopoly tech, but much more expensive than the other we could choose from so I go for that one. PP would be the only other ok option.
Set research on drama. I would like to use that slide a bit.

Turn 7-10: realize going for atlanta with a small stack is plain silly with the city located on a hill and defended by a CG3 Longbow. Get really disappointed with myself and spend my last turns focusing on capturing washington which is whipped like crazy for units but ultimately falls at the cost of... and as I enter the log the game crashes. wonderful!

I don't have the time to replay it atm and actually I'm a bit irritated about the game crashing so I think I should settle down before i replay the last turns, I haven't even got the energy to check when the last autosave was...
Will try to replay tonight after my training, but if I'm to tired it'll have to wait until tomorrow morning...
sorry

I really hope the new patch fixes this stuff. I've crashed the game several times simply trying to load a save.

ok, everything worked out kinda like last time. didn't check the log this time though.
we need to shape up our economy and that fast. hopefully we can rid of the Americans with the troops that are left with the additiion of some new cats. most were lost during the capture of Washington.

sorry 'bout the short report, but I'm at bit stressed atm.

I've started playing and also suffered from the log crash. :wallbash:

I got to the start of 1300 AD, and it is getting ugly. Ramsesses declared war to protect his American vassal, and Charlemange has a monster stack building along our borders.

1275 AD
I am glad to see drama being researched. We need to up the culture slider now.

I really hate the governors. Every time something changes with a city they tend to fire the specialists that were hired. I hire the priest back in Cahokia immediately.

I had no idea how wonder happy America went. We now control six wonders in Washington including the GL.

I don't expect to capture a lot from American, as there aren't enough catapults on the map at this point.

I revolt to free religion.

1280 AD
I fear we have trouble coming up as Charlemagne has too much on his hands, and is stock piling troops along our border. I wish I had been left with more cities building troops after seeing this. I immediately begin recalling as many troops as I can.

1285 AD
Our GG creates a medic 3 chariot. We will need that to survive the assault.

1290 AD
(IT) As fear as war starts. However, it is a total WTH with Ramesses declaring war.

1295 AD
 Now Charlemagne doesn't have enough on his hands?

I now understand the Ramesses war. Washington became a peace-time vassal of his.

1300 AD
I just suffered from the same looking at the log crash. :wallbash:

1310 AD
We take high losses, but Atlanta falls.
(IT) I get a random event I haven't seen before - all pikes get a free shock promotion.

=======================

New Updates
Our prophet arrives next turn despite the governor trying to keep firing him.

We need to stay in military obsessed mode for now. We need to end the war with Ramesses ASAP as we are already up to 20% luxury tax, and our science rate is down to just 30%. In addition, we have this very nasty stack along our borders. We also need to build up the southern defenses at the same time we fight Ramesses.

is it possible to bribe Charlemagne into war with somebody else?
That would be really convenient.

I checked and not a single person would go after Ramesses or Charlemagne.

Uh oh... That's one hell of a stack. Got it, can play tonight or tomorrow.
At least he no longer has too much on his hands. Our primary focus needs to be the last of Washington and Ramesses. I wanted to point that stack out to stress not to strip the south to fight in the north. I've got a lot of cities on troops, and I suspect your set will be the same way. You may even get to whip a few troops in the low shield cities.

Our other problem is we will fall behind in tech if the wars don't end soon. You have some challenging turns coming up.

1325 AD
Change some deals for extra money.

1330 AD
Joao demands Liberalism and is denied. Our Great Prophet builds the Dai Miao.

1335 AD
Joao starts golden age. Beg 60 gold from Saladin.

1340 AD
Water supply posoned in Mesa Verde so I have to whip a longbowman.

1454 AD
Capture Boston which includes Military Academy. Assault earns us Great General who is sent to Snaketown.

Civ4ScreenShot0024.jpg

Everybody has Nationalism exept Gandhi. He is researching it so I trade it for all of his gold. He is now pleased with us.

Also sell Literature to Saladin for his gold and gain +1 to fair trade relations.

Sell Crab to Gandhi for 5gpt.

Trade Sheep to Dye with Charlemagne.

Upgrade two archers to longbowmen with our extra money.

1355 AD
Saladin completes Taj Majhal.

Join GG in Snaketown as military instructor. City should concentrate to build units.

1360 AD
Joao demands 240 gold and gets it. Guilds comes in and I start Printing Press.

1370 AD
Great Scientist born in Washington. I suggest we lightbulb Printing Press. I didn't pause the game because there is little turns remaining.

1375 AD
Burn Philadelphia and make peace with Roosevelt and Ramsess II.

Civ4ScreenShot0025.jpg

We are quite thin on troops so we should continue building them. Charlemagne doesn't have enough on his hands but monster stack remains. I suggest we move our units there. Here is GNP and power charts.

Civ4ScreenShot0027.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0028.jpg

We should start Forbidden Palace in New York.

I think Washington is good candinate for Globe Theatre and National Epic.

Snaketown should build Heroic Epic.

What about Moai Statues?

New Updates
@ Meiz - I don't understand why you razed Philadelphia. I don't see anything wrong with the site. Can you let me know your reasoning behind the city raze?

How did our medic 3 chariot down to .6 health? I generally avoid attacking with medic 3 units except under very special cases.

I agree with FP in New York. After the current crossbow completes, I would like to see the FP started.

I agree with Snaketown building the HE. It only needs 15 turns, so queue it up after the mace.

I agree with NE in Washington. We have way to many GP points hear from the wonders, so we may as well double them.

I *disagree* with GT in Washington. IMHO we want the GT for whipping / drafting. This goes 100% against the NE where you want to keep pop points for extra specialists. I am going to propose Boston. It has two heavy food tiles, and a third OK food tile (whales).
This picture shows how we can get irrigation to Washington and Boston. That will greatly help with the GT and NE.

It is time to start spreading our religions. With free religion each internal missionary is good for 1 buck (before multipliers) and 1 happy face.

I agree we still need military built. My only city change would be to stop cities such as Mound City with 1 shield wasting there time on military. These cities should go back to pure buildings.

I razed Philadelphia because peace was not possible before the attack and there was a high risk that we would lose the city.

Medic 3 chariot was last unit able to attack and Philadelphia was defended by 1 unit with red health.

Where should we build Oxford University?

Edit: And what does team think about burning GS to Printing Press?
