LK163 - AWM, India

Another spot for consideration.

I posted another city site in the above post. We still have the block of grassland above Aydin to fill it.

I can’t believe we can still research in 4 turns staying cash positive. Tusker will get to jump to the next age. Our #1 goal is Sacred Art. That gives Ganges Pilgrimage and will trip our golden age. It also gives a permanent happy face in every city and doubles the effects of Hindu communities.

I like the catapult ship plan. Let us keep those ships from coming down. If we get enough with ships lethal bombard then we may be able to even kill a few ships.

In 8 more turns Aydin’s borders will expand and we add coffee to our happy sources. I spotted furs north of Chartres with French borders. Our luxury resource situation is looking good.

Maghreb complete the Arsenal
Germans are building Holy City.

T2: Horsearcher smashes holy man and takes Paris.

Enslaver kills the holy man near Tours.
Tusker tramples Brazilian XBow

Lyons: Two tuskers trample Pikes, then eHorsearcher dies to a redlined Pike
rHorsearcher kills it, but the city holds.
Enslaver kills that pesky German Warrior.

IBT: French XBow murders one of our 'phants
Brazil bombards us a bit, as usual.
Austria-Hungary comes out of the fog near Lyons with a sword+spear.
Maghreb brings 3 Camels out of the fog at Chartres!

Feudalism > Chivalry
Build Castles basically everywhere...

IBT: Brazilian MDI suicides on an exploring WE

T5 (1610 AD): WE and Ratha kill AH Spear and Sword near Lyons
Siege Bow kills Brazilian Spear
Brahmin kills Camel

IBT: We lose two exploring WEs near Marseilles (W of Paris).
 We lose AN ENTIRE ROADING CREW when a Maghreb Camel comes out of the fog and annihilates the WE covering them

There's no way to get the roading crew back. They've gone too far already :(

Rheims: Cat kills ePike

WE redlines Pike but then dies :wallbash:
WE crushes Pike and breaks the gates!

Defense of Chartres:
Ratha narrowly kills Almohad Knight

IBT:
Maghreb Treb dies vs. our WE; Almohad kills him.
Maghreb Camel Musketeer kills our Ratha near Chartres.

WE kills Carthaginian Pike
WE kills Pike at Avignon.
WE kills Camel Musketeer near Rheims
WE kills Crossbow
MC retreats...
Brahmin kills XBow
WE dies vs. MDI near Chartres
eWE kills the MDI

Most of our well-established cities are building Indian Knights, with a few building Pikes or WEs instead (based on spt).

Some cities are still building Castles. Paris should be online as a healing point by the end of the next turnset.

There is a large stack in Chartres; most of them just got back from healing in Aydin. They'll do very nicely for taking Avignon and settling the Maghreb units trickling in.

Rheims needs reinforcements. The units near Orleans can shore it up until the units near Aydin right now can get there.

Ugg - the loss of the road crew is painful. We never had enough workers this early in the game. It is double tough this one as we have been having bad luck with enslavers hitting 1 defense units.

Glad to see castles on the way. We get the nice period of the game with all veteran units.

I hope we win the race to Royal Tournament.
JJ gets to plan for Ganges Pilgrimage and our GA.

I got it.

After Theology -> Sacred Art I favor going Engineering (bridges and windmills) -> Alchemy.

Elephantium, the stack you positioned at Chartres should let us capture Avigon and get Furs.

IIRC Engineering also cost us some of our free unit buildings. :(

France is down to just 3 cities. Maybe they can die during your set.

We desperately need more stuff to fight corruption.

Mid Turn Update
IIRC Engineering also cost us some of our free unit buildings. :(.
Okay, after Scared Art I will choose Alchemy.

France is down to just 3 cities. Maybe they can die during your set.
The French have been defeated in the year 1660 AD.

We will learn Scared Art in 1670 AD.
It is going to take 10 turns to build Ganges Pilgrimage (needs 300 shields).
I forgot that Ganges Pilgrimage has to be built in a city near a river. Therefore, Bombay cannot build it.
The best I can do is build it in Aydin which can produce 30+ Shields per turn. Ganges Pilgrimage should be 5 turns away from completion when I finish my set.
Istanbul-Constantinople might have been able to do better if I had mined the 2 remaining hills and a few desert titles.

Continuing 1635 AD: Istanbul-Constantinople hires 8 Engineers and decreases Royal Tournament build time from 4 to 3 turns.

IBT: War Elephant near Avigon is killed by Maghreb Almohad Knight (0, 1).
War Elephant defending Rheims kills Brazilian Crossbow (1, 1).

1640 AD:

Brahmin kills Brazilian Crossbow (4, 1)

Our troops move into position to attack Avigon in 1645 AD.

IBT: An Egyptian Knight and a Medieval Infantry show up from the southwest, out of the fog, below Marseilles. The Egyptians know 5 more techs than we do and have 10 cities.

1645 AD:
The Egyptians refuse to surrender :deal: so I am forced to issue a Declaration of War. :hammer:

At Avignon:
eRatha kills Pikeman (5, 1). Avignon's populace is happy to join our Hegemony. We now have access to furs.
Horsearcher killed by Maghreb Almohad Knight (5, 2); eWar Elephant kills Knight (6, 2).

At Marseilles:
eWar Elephant kills French Crossbow (7, 2).

Our troops continue their march toward Marseilles.

At Marseilles:
War Elephant killed by French Pike (21, 7); Knight kills Pike (22, 7); Knight kills Pike (23, 7). Marseilles' populace is happy to join our Hegemony.

Knight kills Brazilian Trebuchet (24, 7).

1665 AD: Delhi produces a new Enslaver and a Medieval Infantry.
Spoiler Captured Gold :
XkzwdD.png

At Avignon: eWar Elephant kills Maghreb Crossbow (25, 7)

Catapult kills Brazilian Pike (26, 7); Brahmin converts Crossbow to a Monk (27, 7); Knight kills Medieval Infantry (28, 7); Knight kills Camel Musketeer (29, 7).

Knight kills Egyptian Knight (30, 7); Knight kills Chariot (31, 7);

IBT: Germany wants peace. They have 10 cities and know four (4) techs we do not know. They will not surrender  to us. Therefore, they do not get peace :nono: , the war continues. :trouble:

Two (2) Catapult ships sunk by Brazilian Galleass (41, 15).
Knight killed by Egyptian Crossbow (41, 16).

1675 AD:
Knight kills Egyptian Musketman (42, 16); Knight kills Late Pike (43, 16).

IBT: Catapult ship captured by Pirate Ship (43, 17).
Catapult ship sunk by Brazilian Galleass (43, 18).

1680 AD:
Southwest of Marseilles:
Knights kill Two (2) Egyptian Medieval Infantry (45, 18); eCamel Rider kills Medieval Infantry (46, 18); eEnslaver kills Spearman (47, 18);

At Avignon: eWar Elephant kills Numidian Mercenary (48, 18); War Elephant killed by Medieval Infantry (48, 19); eWar Elephant kills Medieval Infantry (49, 19); eWar Elephant kills Late Pike (50, 19).

1685AD: Delhi produces a Clan. Ballista Shop produces a Training-Crossbow.

At Hieraconpolis:
eKnight kills Egyptian Late Pike (51, 20). When I notice city is size 1 with less than ten (10) culture :hmm: further attacks :shake: are postponed. :whew: Hieraconpolis should either grow to size 2 or have a border expansion soon.

Southwest of Marseilles:
Knight kills Egyptian Medieval Infantry (52, 20); eWar Elephant kills Brazilian Crossbow (53, 20); Brahmin kills Brazilian Crossbow (54, 20); Knight kills Egyptian Crossbow (55, 20); Knight kills Medieval Infantry (37, 20); eEnslaver captures Brazilian Crossbow (57, 20).

Victory Screen: 6% world area 12% world population

Paris has a Castle.

22 elite victories and not 1 Great Leader :aargh: :gripe: :dunno: Marseilles and Avigon could use rushed Castles.

There are 2 separate gangs of workers on the Mountain southwest of Istanbul-Constantinople. I group is 5 slaves that can build a road in 2 turns. The second group is the rest of the workers and they can build a mine in 1 turn.
That “mining” group is why Aydin’s production increased to 40 shields per turn, after corruption, and Ganges Pilgrimage’s build time was reduced 2 turns.

On the following map, there should be an Egyptian City (based on its blue border) at the White Dot.

Newly Acquired Territory 1685 AD.

Mid set rip off report. We failed to get a golden age from Ganges Pilgrimage
ATTN: Civinator.

LAK-1903.jpg

LAK-1904.jpg

There is also misinformation in the Civilopedia. India is not Industrious it is Agricultural. I think the reason the Wonder did not work is it has both Industrious and Agriculturial traits checked in the biq. :(

Is India Commercial, as the 'pedia says? I notice that the Ganges Pilgrimage doesn't have Commercial listed in its traits.

Edit: Hey, I've broken 5k posts, most of them due to SGs :D

Elephantium, congrats for breaking the 5.000 posts barrier and to all of you thank you very much for reporting the error with the Ganges Pilgrimage. :) Indeed India is commercial, agricultural and (as it is with all civs) religious. One of the traits for India was changed from industrial to commercial for balancing reasons between the civs. The current settings of the Ganges Pilgrimage only cover 2/3 of the needed traits. These settings for the GW will be changed with the next CCM2 biq and the civilopedia entry for Indian traits will receive a fix, too.

On the other side, may be this makes the game even a little bit more interesting for you, as the gathering of proper traits given by GWs for a GA is cummulative, meaning you should only need to conquer a city with a GW with the commercial trait in it, to trigger your GA (as long as you are still owning the Ganges Pilgrimage) or to build such a GW yourself.

What about a Small Wonder like "The Wawel Castle", with both Commercial and Agricultural traits associated with it?
We are now in the Age of Discovery Era. Would a Wonder that went obsolete in the Ancient Empires Era still trigger our Golden Age?
If the Wonder was another Civilization's Golden Age Wonder and required a specific Civilization Flag to be built would it count toward triggering our Golden Age?

IIRC the check occurs after building each wonder.

I use a bit of our cash to upgrade some vet spears to pikes at home.
I switch Delhi to pikes. We need more defensive units at the front.

City corruption is killing us. Former France is pretty useless. I switch some towns to admin centers to start working on countering the corruption.

It is 3 turns to Ganges Pilgrimage. With us already getting free Hindu communities this wonder gives us 2 extra happy in every city. I would like to get to the point of not running luxuries. This is a great help.

I up the science rate by 10% to save a turn on alchemy. Technology is where we are hurting the most. One of the constant challenges of AW is being stuck behind in tech.
(IT) A ship appears on the Bombay side of our lands.
I hate this BS. I checked the game at the end of the turn, and no cities showed problems. Now Sydney riots. I switch it to colosseum to get more spare happy.
An attacking crossbow was killed. (1-0)
I begin research on gunpowder. Better units always help. In addition, I would like to locate the saltpeter sources.
