LK163 - AWM, India

1690 AD (1)
Enslavers are too valuable to be tied up exploring. I begin to recall the one doing exploring.

The mystery unit I saw turns out to the Inca. We are stuck with another war. :(
They are large with 15 cities.

I’ve located a second city of Egypt. I still have no clue when their main cities are.
(IT) I lost the elephant the found city that city. (1-1)

1695 AD (2)
A wimpy enslaver retreats from a Maghreb crossbow. The next attack kills it. (2-1)
This area is being tough to fight from with too much desert to slow down movement.
(IT) Scandinavia wants to talk.
Everyone is talkative. Now Brazil wants to talk.
Ganges Pilgrimage is completed.
Two elephants are killed. One Egypt crossbow dies. (3-3)

1700 AD (3)
India is screwed. NO golden age started. I checked the .BIQ and India is agricultural, religious, and commercial. Ganges Pilgrimage is industrious, expansionist, religious and agricultural. We still need a commercial wonder to trip our GA.
The good news is the 2 extra happy faces let me drop the luxury rate to 10%. Only two cities need temp clowns and both are working on happy buildings.

I killed an Egypt musket and an MDI. (5-3)

(IT) An elephant was killed. (5-4)

1705 AD (4)
I killed the German medieval catapult that landed by Suhn. (6-4)
I barely killed a Maghreb camel. (7-4)
I easily killed another Maghreb camel. (8-4)
An enslaver kills a Maghreb crossbow, but no worker. (9-4)
An Egypt knight is killed promoting our knight to vet. (10-4)
Hierakonpolis has grown to size 2. I killed 2 pikes inside. (12-4)
Hierakonpolis is captured.

There is another civ city above El-Amarna. I suspect Brazil, but can’t confirm yet. Sadly, it is another jungle infected mess.
(IT) An Egyptian crossbow dies attacking. (13-4)
I lost the exploring knight. (13-5)
The next tech is renaissance. It gives us banks. It opens up humanism for universities.
A source of saltpeter is already connected.
South Africa completed Holy Book. East India Company is being built.

1710 AD (5)
Bengal is founded.
I killed an Egyptian musket and crossbow. (15-5)
There is a pair of Brazilian crossbows near Marseilles. Both are killed, and I got a new worker. (17-5)
The science push is getting tough. Even at 70% science renaissance needs 5 turns.
(IT) I killed an Inca Galleass. (16-5)
An elephant approaching El-Amara is killed. (16-6)

1715 AD (6)
A Maghreb Numidian is killed. (17-6)
I lost a Ratha near El-Amara. (17-7)
I found some Brazilian troops by El-Amara. 1 spear, 1 bucket and 1 camel rider are killed. I lost a knight in the fight. (20-8)
I expect to lose the exposed camel rider as I found several more Brazil units after killing the bucket. The attack on El-Amara is delayed waiting on more fresh troops.
(IT) The camel is lucky and retreats.
Great Playhouse is under construction.

1720 AD (7)
I try an assault on El-Amara. I lost 2 knights, and killed 2 Egypt pikes and 1 crossbow. (20-8)
El-Amara is temporarily captured along with 3 workers. With Brazil having 4 units by it I expect to lose the knight that captured it. That is still better than letting Egypt get a musket into the city.
(IT) Scandinavia lost a ship near us to a pirate.
As expected, El-Amana is lost to Brazil. I was glad to see them put a bunch of troops in the city. The knight is dead. (20-9)

1725 AD (8)
I kill a German explorer. (21-9)
The second assault on El-Amara begins. Brazil lost 3 crossbows, 1 pike and 1 MDI. (26-9)
The city is recovered along with $61. The brand new monk culture bombs the city.
I kill an Egypt MDI next to the city.
(IT) 2 knights were killed, but 1 took down a Maghreb fast unit. (27-11)

1730 AD (9)
I kill 2 Maghreb crossbows. I lost an enslaver to a crossbow. (29-12)
Thanks to El-Amara a source of silks is on-line.
(IT) A fast unit from Egypt died. (30-12)
A Maghreb crossbow died. (31-12)
Humanism at 70% science needs 7 turns. :( :(
We really need to up our science rate.
2 Inca ships show up by Edirne from the sea tiles that we can’t fully see. I don’t know if this is a hint of more land the other side of that sea.

1735 AD (10)
I kill 2 Brazil crossbows. A new monk has arrived. (33-12)
I kill a Brazilian spear that was wandering behind our lines. (34-12)
Maghreb is becoming a pain between Lyons and Chartres. I kill 1 crossbow and 1 elephant in that area. Our elephant promotes to elite. (36-12)
I kill a Maghreb musket by Avignon. (37-12)

Front #1

Front #2

Front #3
Maghreb wanders toward some target.

Front #5

Border danger:

Area planning. I already started non-coastal roads along here.

No amount of overtime could make this simpler to turn over. There are simply too many fronts.

The science rate is killing us. Every grassland tile in the core needs to be irrigated to grow more scientists in our cities.

Former Turkey is starting to look good. Istanbul has 21 tiles developed and about to grow another scientist. Edrine is getting the desert tiles mined to get some production. Bursa and Iznik still need a lot of work.

LKendter, thank you for your interesting reports and screenshots. :) The not marked incense luxury resource in your 'road building plan' could be benefitting for the Empire of India, too.

meaning you should only need to conquer a city with a GW with the commercial trait in it, to trigger your GA
IIRC the check occurs after building each wonder.
Yes. So you guys will have to build a commercial GW, or capture a commercial GW and then build any GW yourselves, to get your GA.
What about a Small Wonder like "The Wawel Castle", with both Commercial and Agricultural traits associated with it?
SWs don't trigger the GA-check (AFAIK).
We are now in the Age of Discovery Era. Would a Wonder that went obsolete in the Ancient Empires Era still trigger our Golden Age?
If it's a Commercial GW, that would still count as completing your Wonder-traits; obsolescence just means you wouldn't get whatever benefit(s) that GW originally conferred.
If the Wonder was another Civilization's Golden Age Wonder and required a specific Civilization Flag to be built would it count toward triggering our Golden Age?
See above. GWs never get destroyed on capture, so even if it was a GW you couldn't ever have built yourselves, its traits would still be valid for the GA-check.

But you would still need to build a GW.

Thank you for the information tjs282.

Civinator, I just checked the biq file and Wawel Castle is a Wonder, the civilopedia has it as a Small Wonder. :hmm::think:

:mischief: The Maghreb, who border us to the North, built The Arsenal a Great Wonder (with commercial trait) in Carthage. :hammer:

Jersey Joe, thank you very much for reporting that error in the CCM civilopedia, that will be fixed with the next version of CCM2. As tjs282 pointed out correctly, only GWs are counting for covering the prerequisites of a GA for a civ and therefore all those buildings that can trigger GAs for a civ at once when beeing built, must be - and are - GWs.

Was going to start playing, but I really want to change the tech path. We can get get Engineering in 4 still and follow that by clockworks. I feel we really need those shield increasing buildings before building (very expensive) universities. It will also give us more time at 4 turn research and by the time we get to Humanism it may be better than 7 turns.
I think skipping engineering and clock works this long may already have been a mistake and I don't want to wait longer for them.
Note that Humanism is still 7 turns though I think it was started last turn.

I really hate losing 2 free unit buildings, but if you feel that strongly go ahead.

It might, but I can't say for sure. I really don't see much we can do to grow science rate ATM. We need more scientists, and I think most core cities already have academies.

Yes, it was started the last IT. No beakers invested yet.
