IBT: We are about to get attacked by the Greeks, as they sign MPP with Songhai. We withstand the charge of two cavalries. The Songhai fleet seems to be heading for Madagascar. I wonder what resource is present here, since the AI seems to value it so much. More bad news, Egypt and Aztecs sign trade embargo. Brazil declare on the Greeks. Brazil and Australia sign peace.
We can forget about extra war happiness, as the Greeks aggressions against Babylonians force us to declare on the Greeks.
Greece has a suicide wish, and they declare on the French.
1070 Goals, Raze a city of the Songhai, and destroy the last of the Songhai SoDs.
Economy is improving, as we suddenly have 140 gpt.
Our cannon are highly ineffective, and I will likely have to shelve the plans for the start of the offensive until next turn.
While clearing out the damaged cavalry, We get a new leader. I am sorely tempted to rush Pentagon, but I rush another army instead, trusting this heavy fighting to grant us another leader soon.
Instead of throwing our cavalry against the musket stack, I send the newly commissioned army against Pi-Ramses, and after he deals with the top riflemen, our cavalry charges in and takes control. Pi-Ramses is size 1, but I raze it anyway, since the Songhai have managed ot get a cultural border increase.
I wake up a settler and nab some extra incense.
I use our spare troops to clear out the Songhai SoD, and all thats needed now is for our armies to heal, and we can go on the offense against the Songhai.
I have taken a calculated risk, and exposed a bunch of workers, as I needed to have front line rails. I am counting on getting new workers soon in case I lose the exposed ones.
We can start to make peace deals now, but I do not dare as long as the MPP together with Babylon is in force.
Hmm, In spite of having gone through the cities twice, I still find cities building cavalry that lacks a barracks. I switch to rifleman, as a regular rifleman still does a job working as military police, while a regular cavalry is only an emergency solution, and hopefully the emergency is past, as I can only spot three riflemen of the Songhai.
KILLS:
Riflemen: 1, Muskets: 5, Cavalry: 1, Medievals: 6
IBT:
Iroqs declare on Americans, Iroqs rampage, and declare on the Chinese as well. Brazil declare on us on behalf of the Indians, they also declare on the Chinese. Loads of warfare in the Americas, and the Persia declare on the Chinese.
Songhai muster seven cavalry for counters, and manage to kill four riflemen, but our front holds. We lose one stack of workers, but the Songhai does not disband them, so I expect to get them back.
A minor landing of knights in our soft underbelly will be remembered and dealt with.
We have lost 50 gpt due to all of the war declarations.
America and Babylon sign peace. Thats a possible target for a peace, have to check for other alliances first though. Diplomacy is really tangled.
Ugh, we seem to have lost at least one lux, and I have to use scroll ahead to prevent rioting everywhere. My bad for cutting it close.
1080 I set a 10% lux tax, as that is way cheaper than trying to get pelts out of the Australians. They are being really stingy about this.
This turn, I wish to get the Songhai horses disconnected, and I will have to see what needs to be done to make that come true. I will also need to do some damage control, so I do not lose what I have gained.
In the very first cavalry battle, Mpondo appears, and he will be used to rush the Pentagon in a front line city. ( I want to get cultural borders. ) I use Memphis for Pentagon. It is sufficiently enough behind the front so I need not strip myself bare in order to protect it.
I wake up another settler and settle next to another horse. We could use this to get trade concessions as soon as we get it roaded.
I decide I can afford to use one of our armies for pillaging. This turn I want to heal our Knight armies, so I will park one of our cavalry armies on the Songhai horses.
I have lost too many cavalry now, and I will have to build more. I need to use riflemen to defeat the last Dyinas. Who knew one could lose half of the battles of cavalry vs cavalry/knight ?
Spend some care MM, and we gain 23 gpt.
Diplomatically we are not well off. We have an alliance against the Indians with the Mongols, but the Mongols are warring upon our MPP partner Babylon.
I take a chance that the Aztecs will have their task cut out for them in America, so the Aztecs will never reach Babylon, and I sign peace with Aztecs, letting them pay us 2 gpt and 14 gold for the pleasure, or I would have, had I not doublechecked, and discovered we have an alliance with America against Aztecs. I suspect we will not be able to sign any peace deals until ten more turns have been done, and all twisted deals have been resolved.
Russia has just gotten all the worlds money, so I suspect they are the tech leaders.
At least I made 40 gold from mapsales, so it was not entirely useless.
I have withdrawn most of our workers to the core now, trying to get them core cities optimized.
Kills, Riflemen: 2, Cavalry: 3, Dyinas: 2
Losses: Cavalry: 2
IBT: Egypt declares on us. ( Looks like we are soon in a full dogpile. ) Our riflemen perform badly this turn as well. One wins and one loses against the charging pair of Songhai cavalry.
China is signed up against us by the Russians. Iroqs land a bunch of archers and a pikeman on Madagaskar.
Haha, we kill an Infantry at Madagaskar with our spying rifleman.Hahahahaha, a purple ship sinks a Russian galleon travelling along our coast.
Pentagon completes. This might have been :weed:, as it could possibly have been used as a prebuild, but I have given up ToE now. The China betrayal solved a few of our happiness problems though. Hope that war happiness will hold on a while. At least until we secure some gems from the Songhai.
Indians start ToE
1090, I ship a couple of cannon to Madagaskar, hoping they will help against the Russian infantry eventually, after I deal with the current landing. It takes seven cannon to redline the single rifleman inside our borders.
Raze Ghandu, the former Songhai horse city.
I have six cavalry, and Russia is likely to have no more than one or two Infantry in New Zimbabwe, and with the loss of two of our cavalry, New Zimbabwe is ours once again. Now I hope two riflemen can withstand five archers.
For the first time in a long time, I have troops I do not know where to send, and the most worthy will be awarded restful times as MPs, as I heal my armies.
I top off the knight armies with cavalry for some extra punch.
Kills: Infantries: 2, Riflemen: 4, Cavalry: 5
Losses: Cavalry: 2
IBT: The Songhai makes an impressive recovery, and kill two crusaders and a cavalry without getting any losses of their own. They make a less impressive landing of a single longbow on Madagaskar. Aztecs come begging for peace.
As expected our riflemen have no problems withstanding the Iroq archers. What is not expected is that they manage to produce a leader.
France and Mongolia sign peace.
1100 Goal is to clear Madagaskar, and position armies for strikes deeper into the heart of Songhai.
Scratch goal one, cannon does not bite on the pikeman, and wounded cavalry is not risked. I build an empty army on Madagaskar, fill it if you want to. In fact, I would recommend filling it as soon as the cavalry has healed.
Not much happens, mostly because there are not very much to do. I clear out the visible Songhai, and position armies in places to seriously threaten two Songhai cities. But I do not need to tell you how to vanquish enemies on the gas. We are somewhat short on cavalries at the moment, but as we get more cities optimized, our cavalry production will improve.
Thus far, the Songhai cities have been defended by no more than two riflemen. I would suggest you press the attack at least until you reach the Songhai Gems.
There is a stack of Settlers by Zimbabwe, use them to get better borders.
Note that I have MMed extensively, and at the very least, you should zoom in on cities completing production if you lack the stamina to do every city every turn.
I have not done any diplomacy this turn, not even map sales. It is probably possible to sign peace now, but doublechek and triplecheck that the nation would not be able to trigger the MPP we have with Babylon before signing peace.
Heh, AWD on World map
Good luck, and my thanks to LKendter who set me up so beautifully. My apologies for not being able to return the favour, as you are now somewhat weaker than when I started if you only count forces. Also, I didnt manage to get any leader this turn, so only four new leaders. My apologies.
Save:
Go get them
Grimjack
