On the bottom of the main CFC forums page (right above the archived forums), there is a link to civfanatics.com. This link is actually set up as a forum, which redirects to civfanatics.com.

What if we did something like that with the NES forum? Rename it to Never Ending Stories instead of Civ3-Never Ending Stories, and put a link to it in Civ4 Stories and Tales. That way, the NES forums wouldn't move, there would still only be one NES forum, but there would be a link to it in Civ4 Stories and Tales.

ENOUGH WITH THIS IDEAS! WE don't want to move or change anything as of right now. PERIOD.

That's the point... this doesn't move or change anything, just adds a link.

It adds a link? so it changes somthing. We don't want changes right now expeicaly not to the civ4 forums.

Maybe. But then we'll get even more newbies then right now, and though many of them are useful, that also means the occasional person who gave the word "n00b" such a derogatory meaning.

Anyways, add the "Maybe" option NOW (uh, go find a mod or something...)!

Personally, a small flood of noobs wouldn't be a bad thing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, NESing will die if we remain in the Civ3 forum.

So I have to say that this is a good idea.

Well I dont think such link is a bad idea, but this is not the right time for it. We should wait at least couple months so that worst flood of newbies caused by civ4 would be over. Then, the link may be added, but not untill then.

Yes. What the heck is wrong with you people? Don't change anything? The only thing we're changing is having another forum advertize us. Honestly, folks, if we just sit around waiting until we *need* to change, the NES forum would have died by then. Why does it matter to you which forum the link is in? Will it ruin your day? Will it make all NESes explode? No, it will merely create an influx of new people.

New people might bring in some people who are just evil, but it might also bring in a few geniuses.

In my opinion, 90% of n00bs are like me and Sheep. :p

I think we should wait. Like andis said, wait until the initial n00b-horde is gone, then linkity.

Guys, the n00b horde holds much potential. It's the way with this as it's with gaming everywhere; if you actively avoid the lower thresholds you will lose out on much of the best.

People here are really conservative, we're talking about a spoony link to catch up on the potential of the n00b flood, some of them will be idiots but most of them will leave with time. Use the ignore function on the rest.

NES'ing is so going to die in a few years with this prevalent attitude...

Would you rather see NESing have a decent chance at becoming a semi/quasi-famous pasttime on the internet or would you just like to have it completely to yourself for a few years? I'm guessing it's the latter.
Such an inbred mindset...

'squeaky little gamer geek voice': "No, don't let the n00bs in. They'll ruin everything. Let's wait until we're dying out!"

Personally, i think moving the forum to Civ4 entirely would be best, but that is obviously not going to happen. I think jalepenodude's ideais the best one proposed yet.

We were all newbies once.

I think we should give the link in and pray we get a few good ones from the chaff..

Yes, we all were noobies. But Bananalee, you have to admit you were quite possibly the best new NESer we had for awhile when you came around. You, Symphony D., and the other good new players we've had recently are exceptions rather than rules. When I was new to the NES forums I wasn't insane or anything - worse, I was incompetant and impressionable, but at least I didn't ruin the game.

A small flow of new users is great, but we must remember that the majority of new users will be a bunch of kids who like civ 4.

The "NES Forum Location" arguments remind me of an episode in Sapkowsky's Witcher series, btw:

"But what, I wonder, makes such [virgin] blood better then that of an old prostitute that got drunk and fell from the pallisade?"
"Nothing," - agreed the wizard, smiling pleasantly - "but if it leaks that this role [usage in a spell] could be just as well played by the blood of a boar, which is much easier to get, then any scumbag would begin experimenting with magic. But if the scum will have to gather into bottles and use the virgin blood that has so interested you, the dragon's tears, the venom of a white tarantula, the noodle made from the hands of little children or from corpses dug out at midnight, then many of them, I assure you, will not be as eager."

Admit it, there are certain similarities. ;)

Heh. w00t.

I had to find this the hard way, but it got a lot harder after Civ IV came out. Good idea...

Let listen to teh bible okay, mkay:
