LS Civilization Set

Your Sioux is still good! Worry not. And I kind of liked the revision you did to the Literature Night where it had another slot as its main thing - you're going to be pumping out writers like crazy with the Durrani, so more places to put their things is nice!

Anyway on the Hashshashin, so Spy stuff isn't very feasible to do, it seems. Is it possible to increase their starting level or make levels higher than 3 attainable? And I had a better plan for the General, instead of making a Spy on being burned, would a Delegate work better, or is that also really hard-coded?

I have just updated set IV (2-3 hours ago) so any further changes will be definitely delayed in time.
Spoiler :
Durrani changes:
Literature Night is now generating units over time if slot is filled (I am definitely overusing "generating units", it is at least 3rd civilization :P, but it is more thematic than extra defense).
Trait: Mountain provide +1.5 point of GW instead 1.
Not much, I will just let them be ordinary civ with no fancy stuff.

Ashanti's changes in previous post.
Added Strategic View and Civilopedia support, and music for Durrani (Prince of Persia soundtrack :crazyeye:).

Well, I made Sioux, because of civ II sentiment. Not really feel into changing leader. Great or not great, XML trait is a little below my possibilities.

I can make them have get two spies per era (since reinassance) or in general "extra spies" under condition.
Increasing starting level is tied to this National Agency Building, so:
1) It may be not possible.
2) If possible, all spies will have increased level.

Delegates are easy stuff.

I was actually thinking about them some time ago, could't came out with anything interesting.

Updated Set II:

Then I am gonna update Polish duo, nerf Bulgaria and Gallia, add some magic to Vietnam and I left something special for Scotland. It should be everything before August. Eventually, Assassins if traits are gonna be provided. ;I hope that model from ACreed will be fine in this case, couldn't truely find anything proper to made a leaderscreen from.

Hello LastSword, is there a bug in set 5? because it does not work on my game.

It should be okay yeah. Really though you can probably find like...any bearded guy in a hood and do photoshop magic to make it work though.

Lemme try this again!

The Hashshashin

Leader: Hassan-i Sabbah

Colors: Icon: 0.8, 0, 0.2, 0 (Shows up as burgundy on map and text, but transparent on units, a cool effect, and a first for civs, using alpha levels!) Background: 0.9, 0.9, 0.9 (if too similar to Japan, make a darker gray)

Icon: Assassin logo, of course

Unique Ability - Furusiyya: Civilian and Trade Units return to the Capital when defeated instead of being destroyed. Upon stealing a tech, Spies destroy any units in that city.

Unique Unit - Fida'i: Replaces the Longswordsman. Available from Iron Working, but unable to be produced or bought with Gold, and must instead be upgraded from a level 3 Swordsman (or bought with Faith). It is invisible, does not require Iron, ignores terrain cost, has +2 Movement and +4 Combat Strength, can move after attack, and may choose to Assassinate units garrisoned in Cities directly.

Unique Unit - Rafiq: Replaces the Great General. Can once Recruit from enemy cities, spawning three Swordsmen (this does not expend the unit) and once heal adjacent land units like a Great Admiral (this does not either). Upon being expended to build a Citadel, provides +1 Delegate to the World Congress.

Dawn of Man

Spoiler :

Your disciples stand ready at your command, Grand Headmaster Hassan-i Sabbah, leader of the Hashshashin Order. Taking interest from a young age into science and religion, you converted to the growing Ismaili movement, your devotion and wisdom attracting the attention of many. Traveling the land as a scholar and missionary, you incurred the wrath of oppressive armies in the region, and fled into the mountains of Persia. There, you took control of the fortress of Alamut, and began the Hashshashin movement, sending your devoted followers to publicly execute the corrupt and infidel. Though your influence and holdings grew, you found greater solace in the world of study and prayer, and spent your days translating texts and sharing the teachings of the Quran.

Despite the skill and might of your loyal warriors, eventually the Hashshashin were conquered by the expanding yoke of the Mongol empire, and those who remained taken over by the Mamluk sultanate. Yet your legacy is strong and the Hashshashin became romanticized heroes fighting greed and corruption in the eyes of the West. Now, the world is full of those who would seek power and wealth at the cost of those below them. Will you and your followers rise again to spread the light and wisdom of God, and free the people from their subjugators? Will the legend of the Hashshashin rise again to the forefront of the imagination? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?

Will all of this hopefully work?

Unique Ability: Holy Land
+1 Trade Route available for each controlled Holy City.
Cities enter 'We Love the King' if you control the Holy City of religion followed by them.

Does this mean they go into one 'We Love the King' day upon holy city capture,
or are in permanent 'We Love the King' day so long as you control their holy city(!)?

Oh, somebody is reading it after all. Permament. I was sceptical, but I heard people maintain 'perma' WLTK anyway (I am not so pro), so I am gonna see how gamebreaking it will be. In worst scenario, I will find better way to represent mass migrating to Holy Land.

Well, according to mighty wikipedia, the assassin controlled the white area near center of image.
You can also make a diplo text.

Actually they also controlled a series of fortress, largely centered around the Alamut region in northern Iran - that little blotch on the map is their later capital of Masyaf and its surroundings. I like the second icon more, the first looks very much like the Huns.

I did a LOT of diplo text, largely with the framework of JFD's Belgium. Sooooo

At first glance it seems like it will be OP. I'll put KoJ into my games and see if they regularly run away with it. Perhaps, if it doesn't work out, return to the Golden Age as it was before, but have it last longer the more cities you own following that religion? Perhaps that doesn't fit in with migration to the holy land though? :)

Anyway, love the leaderscreen!

Hopefully there's not...like...problems with that o.o

Personally, I use Lenin as my template, as with some I intentionally leave out important responses (in Albert's case, there are no unique DoW reponses, as he's intended never to DoW.) This is why you may occasionally see one of my older civs talking about the cause of the revolution

Thanks.
Golden Age had to be gone, because I am using another civ with similar trait. I was thinking about this WLTK thing and it is actually very bad. Not only, it is potentially imbalanced (Food is second most important resource), but it can be also a penalty, when you face uncontrolled growth of less important cities. Right now, I am testing this: '+10% Food during WLTK if you control the Holy City of religion followed by city'. I will give it some time (maybe something better comes up).

Updates:
  • Vikings - I have actually played them recently and they turned very well. Not as funny as alpha version, but still I could conquer some unprotected cities within two turns with only 3 berserkers. Longship wasn't rescalled to Optics unit (production, combat strength). I would be fully satisfied if AI would use double-attack. Changes:
    • Longship cost reduced by 25%, Base and Ranged Combat Strength by 1.
    • Unit created by Longship receive Sentry promotion. (I was also thinking about linking experience between units, so Longship would receive all XP of created unit, but civ is already strong enough. Maybe, I am gonna reuse this idea some day.)
    • Berserker Combat Strength reduced from 14 to 13.
    • Added Strategic View support.
  • Polish Empire - at first, link will be added to OP. Secondly, I played Casimir and I have to admit that I had never been so wrong about the strength of ability. It's actually meh and weak. Game was fun, I lost after the Deluge of combined Swedish and Cherokee () forces, adding Egyptian backdoor it was a partition. Changes:
    • Wladyka is now a knight replacement. Effects are untouched, but removed bug related to movement. New polished icon.
    • Stephen Bathory received Casimir's flavours.
    • Noble Host is now working only for founded cities.
  • Set VI (balance)
    • Bulgarian Trait extra culture is now based on number of tech known by second side of Research Agreement instead of Culture per turn. Precisely it is floor of ((num tech known) divided by 3).
  • Set IX (balance)
    • Barbarians created with Gallic trait are now weaker (removed some tags from empowering promotion).
  • Set VIII
    • Romania has new leader: Michael the Brave.
    • Hajduk is replaced with Painted Monastery (temple), providing 5 Culture for the empire and 5 XP to unit each time new land military unit is visiting city.
    • Kumbum is providing extra 1 Culture and additional 10 Culture per turn against Tourism Influence (which cannot be used on Border Expansion or new Social Policy)
    • Added Strategic View and Civilopedia support.

@Edit 17.07
  • Set II
    • Kingdom of Jerusalem new trait:
      • +1 Trade Route for each owned Holy City.
      • Become founder of religion upon conquering Holy City if you have no religion yet. (old founder looses the bonus)
    • Any Cargo Ship or Caravan originating from a City with Templar House returns to city after being plundered.
  • Set X
    • Spartan trait cover bonus reduced from 50% to 33%.
    • Archagetai is not damaging non-combat units anymore.
    • Fire Lancer received extra 25% Combat Bonus after the discovery of Gunpowder.
    • Water Puppet Theatre (Garden):
      • +2 Culture.
      • +5% faster generation of Great Artists, Writers and Musicians in the empire.
      • Requires river.

Whoa, that's a pretty cool thing for Jerusalem. Normally with them I focus on actually having my own Holy City since I presume your own religion counts for the trade routes, but here it looks like a more 'get this crusade on the road already' outlook works better.

On Tahiti, I wonder, now that the UA's a bit simplified, maybe you should put the Tipairua's abilities in there and bring back the Marae? Maybe that could have the old culture effect for first landmass city the UA used to have, only it's delayed what with it being a Colosseum and all.

So pretty much, UA: First coastal city on each landmass gets 15% food. Settlers can immediately embark, but before Astronomy, starting turn on Ocean will transport it to a random coastline.

UB: Replaces Colosseum. +1 Golden Age Point for every city owned. If built in the first city on a landmass, provides +3 Culture and Faith.

UU: Replaces Trireme. Can build fishing boats and change port.

Pros: Settler as unique is quite meh.
Cons: Tipairua has art; balance (basically, you are adding new extra unique to a civ).
I will consider it during next "wave" of updates.

Will you be updating the dropbox link on the OP soon with the updated sets? :D
I would like first to update set III (one bug fix, SV icons, leader flavours, nothing serious) and set V (in this case, I want something out of box for Scotland... the problem with "out of box" is that ideas rather comes up by their own instead being think up). I can risk that soon is correct.
Right now, newest Vikings and Hungary are linked in OP.

Sounds great! I'm happy to wait a bit then :).

Btw, I was wondering if I could use your old leader art for Mindaugas for my upcoming Kingdom of Lithuania re-release? My old art is... less than perfect, haha.

If you ever feel like updating the Imbangala, I'd suggest getting rid of the extra starting Gonzo (1 is enough from what I've seen), and replacing the Kinguri with:

Yijiko: Cheaper to purchase than the Worker it replaces, earns more Influence when traded away to a City State and can be traded away to other civs as a resource.

Yes, it's a slave... kinda. Imbangala social system was complex and... weird. So they could change of family lines, become and unbecome slaves and other odd things.

That'd make a good deal of balancing them, I believe.

I haven't been blessed with any idea, so I am gonna just upload all mods:
<<<download>>>

  • Set III
    • ???
