Lt. William Calley: "Sorry about My-Lai"

I think I'm the only non-cynic here! When I see the lybian thing, I think the SMP is being a nice guy. When I see this, I think he's sorry. When you age, you see things differently about war (just look at me!)

Doesnt that remain to be seen in the Libyans case?

So you are alleging a conspiracy between the Scottish doctors and judges to pretend this man is at deaths door?

Please elaborate. I know how much you like conspiracy theories.

What a scumbag. Just as dispicable as the Lockerbie bomber..

Can't say I'm exactly embarrassed that the US holds less executions per-capita than Japan.
I see you conveniently forgot about all the other countries on that list. Proud of the other countries as well?

And the only reason Japan has a higher per-capita rate is due to all the legal actions against the current spate of people sentenced to die in this country.

This scumbag got to live normally after that for about 38 years and counting. The Lockerbie bomber has maybe a year and very probably much less to live, and not even normally given his condition.

I see you conveniently forgot about all the other countries on that list. Proud to be in that group, are you?

Personally I don't care about what company we keep with regards to who does and doesn't perform the death penalty. What the rest of the world does or thinks about it is irrelevant and meaningless to me.

Nice story, but whats your point? They both murdered people but because the latter was an American he was "doing justice" or "bringing freedom" so that's probably why the let him off. A pathetic excuse..

What is pathetic here is people can't tell the difference between letting someone off 'cause you don't care about justice vs. letting someone off because he's about to die and you're letting him die in his own country.

I know it is irrelevant and meaningless to you. And I bet you think most the rest of the world hates the US due to our freedom and liberty...

I never was for letting him off. The lockerbie bomber (supposedly) commited a vile offense and showed no remore. Why should we allow him to die the way he chooses when he sure as hell didn't show that courtesy to his victims?

Because an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Right okay then, we'll let him out then, not just him, infact lets let out all the kiddy fiddlers and Scottish drug dealers eh then? Too show everyone how "Moral" we are. Great arguement.

This is plainly a strawman. Talk about great arguments.

Obviously, saying "Why should we allow him to die the way he chooses when he sure as hell didn't show that courtesy to his victims?" is not how the legal process is conducted, nor how justice is served. Do you go around asking "Why should we not rape this guy when he sure as hell raped his victims?", hmm? You don't do something to a criminal just because he did it to his victims. That's not justice in modern society, bro.

And regardless of whether the Scottish decision was right, there is a BIG difference between this case and that, so all the comments about this guy deserving death in prison "just like" the other guy are asinine. There is a fundamental difference between why one was released and why the other was, plus big differences in the circumstances surrounding their respective release.

Huh, I never knew morality was dictated by popularity.
You can try to dismiss your own personal opinions in this matter to "morality", and how you must be battling evil and stupid people who make up the "majority" which obviously disagree with your opinion in this matter, but you aren't fooling anybody but yourself. The day will soon come when it is an international crime to execute anybody for any reason whatsoever, much as what has happened with slavery or any other great crime against humanity. What will your excuse be then?

What is this Jungle speak? He was released on Moral, not legal grounds. Then what justice is there for the victims? A pat on the back and say "oh well he was going to die anyway so let's give him to his family. Shame about your relative though."

The thing you need to bear in mind with this man is that war and the jungle can do strange things to some people. He's not neccessarily a monster; just someone who couldn't take it

Only if there is a Libyan Jesus.
