I will try this, but I'll probably start by roasting it instead of boiling it.
I don't boil mine either I either roast or microwave them (it keeps the starch in the potato *and* it makes the mash less watery)
oh um and the Maori is such a cool civ, y'all (before the mod warning is upon us)
Everything is better than McDonalds. I would hate to try their version of sweet potatoes.
Ah cool, I didn't know that they were called that.
They are interesting. I wish I could say they'll be my first civ, but I go chronological, so that probably means Dido is first. They'll be one of the first, though.
oh i am absolutely playing Inca first, no doubt. They're an easy Civ to master, which will make the transition into the GS mechanics easier (same reason why my first R&F civ was America). Maori I'm probably going to play whenever I roll them If I ever select them manually though, it will defo be on a Huge Continents map (or TERRA if they devs FINALLY add that map type)
Gedemon made an unofficial Terra map: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/ynamp-yet-not-another-maps-pack-for-civ6.25395/
It is better than even one that Firaxis would eventually make.
If the Toa stays at 40 combat strength, it will be incredibly powerful in the Classical era. I'd hate to see a group of Toa show up at my doorstep around then.
I presume that's on purpose, a recognition that the Maori may need to fight their way into a decent sized empire, depending on where their first Settler initially lands.
I don't know if this would ever happen is SP. On Deity It's always the first civ I meet that rushes me and the Mâori start position would make them an unlikely first meet. Maybe chopping goes against their agenda effect so much they will declare war.
I have to play as Maori first, but I think I'll be playing them for my first three games. I want to try them with an Ancient Era start, and then a later start, perhaps Medieval start...Would be interesting!
Along with the Pa improvement, they would also help to protect the land that they settle.
Just to point out, that I am still playing the Maori theme music, goodness it is so good.
Nice idea. If the tech requirements stay the same, then the Māori could get to the prerequisite Cartography tech faster since they already have Shipbuilding.
The odds of the Māori finding a good wonder early are much higher. With their natural culture (no need to get GW) and faster early prod I will be interested seeing how they go in science victories,
Sveden has been announced.
I remembered a post in this thread:
The rivalry has begun...
I think you underestimate the Inca.
How will Maori work with Legendary Start?
Oh, I plan to test that...
You start out in the middle of the ocean with sea resources all around you, but no land
You start near Great Barrier Reef or Galapagos, but the nearest landmass is 15 tiles away.
You're thinking of Krakatoa.
Civ 5 reference
Somehow I don't think that Krakatoa is a good place to settle near..
