Mad Scientists Nest generation RPC Summary/Bullpen

I view Julian as an espionage guy, a pacifist, and a socialist. So I am looking at

1) Philosophical and perhaps Financial, Organized or protective (defensive purposes). Thus Liz, Fred, or SB.

2) I like India as it has a peaceful UU and a UB geared towards espionage.

3) Civics will definitalely be limited. Emancipation, FR, FS, SP and US. All others are out.

4) No starting wars, although he can manipulate the powers that be to go to war and of course he can defend.

5) Wonders should be limited to the Great wall.

6) Great Spies are used for Scotland yard only, and we must cut science to 0% at alphabet.

7) No specialists except spies.

8) Victory is preferably the UN but we cna accept Space.

You should have to build the internet as well.

:D

LOL great idea :goodjob: If you're doing an espionage game, why not try Freddy of Sumeria? Rush to GWall as normal for the PHI-enhanced GSpy then beeline priesthood for super cheap and early courthouses -> spy specialists? Also, I think there should be some sort of diplomatic twist to reflect the leaks' negative impact on global diplomacy, something like, every leader gets -2 "we secretly loathe you" diplo penalties with every other leader and make them more likely to declare war(remember the leak about arab leaders allegedly favoring military action vs. iran in private?). Perhaps this could be implemented by tweaking their hidden diplo modifiers /ibaseattitudes and/or peaceweights towards the AIs & human in the xml or adjusting the diplomacy values in worldbuilder before the start of the game, or by simply choosing aggressive AI in the custom game options.

EDIT: Oops  I had an acute cerebral flatus and wrote Suleiman (PHI/IMP) when I really meant to write Freddy (PHI/ORG)

I prefer to play the diplomacy angle as it unfolds, I see Julian being a great manipulator.

I like Summeria better than India, perhaps with Fred (ORG). I am going to be at a disadvantage for a good while, might as well get some good traits.

Fred of Sumeria sounds like the perfect choice. Cheap early Zigs and lots of Great Spys and Org will allow you to expand sufficiently. I like the idea of building Scotland Yards everywhere instead of Great Spy missions. It will be interesting to see how many EPs you generate this way.

I think the Kremlin should be allowed for the Spy points and rush buying if you are going to be in US. I can't recall if their are any other Spy producing Wonders. I also think Mids should be allowed so you can switch into Rep or US early. I forget which civic has a multiplier on EPs - Nationhood or Police State I think - should this be required instead?

I think you should be able to adopt earlier civics until the point in which the target civics open up. All the mandatory civics you mentioned are pretty much at the bottom.

Also, Communism should be a beeline for the Great Spy and Internet (A Project) has to be a must build for ole Julian. What would he be without it....

Surely 1 great spy has to infiltrate america??? You should also have to trade the techs which you steal. Julian doesn't steal information just to horde it, he shares it with the world! And once again: No boats!!! You just won't be able to stop the leaks.

If I was not so mad I would think this funny.

My CIV IV computer at home seams to have died, aggrevating as hell since it's less than 2 years old and I only have a service agreement for 1 year! The computer rebooted after automatic updates, left an arrow pointer on the screen to which I usually restart by powering down. Did that this morning but now it will not start up at all and gives a low level whine. Anyone have any clues before I bring it into repairs???

I would think the US government heard about WikiCivilization and sabotaged my computer!

tough to judge... could be anything. First thing that came to mind was motherboard. I too once upgraded firmware on mine motherboard killing the card.

Why State Property over Free Market though? Free Market seems more suited, in my opinion.

The power of SP in the game has absolutely nothing to do with socialism...which neither magically creates food nor REDUCES maintenance (strictly speaking from an economic standpoint it will raise costs along those lines). Of course, state property could be taken a few different ways...and it's at LEAST as realistic as global warming .

Try to boot, press F8 while doing that and choose 'Last known good' from the enhanced options that should appear. Maybe that will help.

Well, the computer is in the shop.

As far as the next RPC, I will definitely think through restrictions. I may keep fewer so I can focus the most efficiently on espionage.

My feeling is that Assauge is somewhat of a socailist and State PRoperty is associated with COmmunism which is the next step up from Socialism. Perhaps my own political thoughts are coming through which is never my intent, and as an American I don't like the guy in real life. Still he makes a great RPC talk.

SO what minimally am I looking for here?

1) Espionage

2) Atheism, thus only FR or Paganism is allowed.

3) Reluctance for war and preference to diplomatic manipulation particularly to weaken stronger nations.

4) Non-despotic civics. At least Slavery, peasentry, Vassalage, Police State, Heritary Rule are out.

The leader is likely Fred of Summeria.

peter of russia :D

yep ... bad joke

... actually ... reading your old RPC with peter the rules sounds like a redux

Yes, this is a concern of mine with this RPC. Espionage was done twice, once with wettled GSpies with Mao and the other with the slider with Peter III. I have used espionage in RPCs, but never the focus (even Mao espionage was not the sole focus). However, I think it has been long enough where we can try another espionage game, and WikiCivilization is such a greta topic.

Thinking it through for another day (that's all to do with a foot of snow and a broken computer) I am thinking there should be ONE rule for Julian Assauge

THE SCIENCE SLIDER IS TURNED OFF AFTER ALPHABET.

The story is important and I think I can swing that well enough. Gives me options on how to approach the game without major rules.

got an possable evil twist for you Mad ...

no Great Wall

My gut reaction for an EE game is to scream NO! But going as Summeria with fast access to Zigs it may work out.
