Main Download Information

When you install 1.75, you should be installing to ..../Beyond the Sword/Mods folder, NOT ...BEYOND THE SWORD/MODS/RISE OF MANKIND. Or you can install to ...My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Mods as another optional destination.

Read the Installation instructions CAREFULLY!

It created a directory within the Rise Of Mankind directory and put everything there so

Yeah it automatically installs the mod wherever the previous version was located. You have to change the path manually when the install program suggests one.

Try what I did! It works: delete all RoM and AND-related folders then install the 1.75 version in My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Mods.

It also works in the BtS/Mods folder. You just have to be aware that 2 folders are created. The outer most will be Rise of Mankind but the one just inside is the AND folder. Cut and paste the AND folder into the Mod folder and then delete the shell folder (Rise of Mankind).

I have 4 Rise of Mankind and AND versions in my E:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods folder and they all work:
Rise of Mankind 1.03 (extended version)
Rise of Mankind (2.92 version)
Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn (version 1.75)
Rise of Mankind NWAI AND (Strategyonly's Prehistoric Mod based off of RoM/AND)

Also telling the AND installer where to install is Not that hard either.

If all else fails take AND175 and install it into a folder any place but the CivIV/BtS directories (Main or My Documents) then Copy/Cut and Paste into the Main BtS/Mod Folder (be sure to remove the outer Rise of Mankind folder 1st.)

I think I've covered the main ways to install AND into the BtS/Mod folder.

Hi all
Isn't it possible to get the leader name next to the civilization name anymore ? you know where all the score are.

In BUG options, go to Scoreboard tab. Yes, there is a option there for Leader/Civ listing.

It was before yes but not anymore. No scoreboard.

Looks like a problem in your install? There should be almost a dozen BUG option tabs, not just five.

Foul

Switch to English, then try again. The BUG tab breaks down with non-ascii characters in city or player names.

Thanks Afforess, it was it.
somthing new hehe.

Just to let you know:
After one mons with Civ5, I went back to AND, and well stay with it.

RAND 1.75 Patch B has been released! Not save compatible.

A New Dawn 1.75 Patch B Changes:
  • New AI Military City Specialization. Should Make the AI specialize 1-2 cities for military production. AI will attempt to settle GG's in them, and focus primarily on military units and buildings.

Great stuff, Afforess!

I'm really enjoying this mod, but am having trouble installing the patch. Sorry if this is answered elsewhere.

I've tried both 1.75A and 1.75B, but when I hover the mouse over the flag to display the version info, it only says 1.75. Is there another way to check if the patch has been installed?

I've turned off my UAC and tried installing it in the default folder the installer recommends, and also manually telling the installer to put it in Program Files(86) BTS/MODS and the my documents/BTS/mods directories. Nothing seems to work.

Anyone have any ideas? Also, do I need to install both patches, or does Patch B contain all the stuff in Patch A?

Thanks Afforess! been playing since CIV 1 and I haven't had this much fun since Sevo Mod was in its heyday.

I apologize if I missed this somewhere else.

I see on the first post it says that AND is no longer being developed.

Has Zappara abandoned RoM as well?

I guess I'll get to know these versions quite well if that is the case, I really don't care for Civ5.

I understand wanting to play with the shiny new toy as a developer, though. Maybe after a year or so I'll take advantage of the improvements Aforress and Zappara make to the game so it's playable.

It feels like the end of an era with mods for Civ IV coming to an end, though.

Unknown for RoM and Zappara.

For RAND (RoM - A New Dawn) is in development for balancing tweaks 1.76. However, yes, it is now effectively on feature-lock. So, when you play RAND 1.75B, you are playing a final product.

I guess this is good news for us Modmodmoders who benefit from having an unchanging base to build their modmodmods on. I like a lot of the new features Afforess has put in, however I miss some of the old stuff he took out. Really I think it was the beginning of the end with AND v1.73. It was really good for the last v1.73 beta but then out of nowhere Afforess yanked everything out.

I totally want to get back in the groove of moding to help put back the stuff he yanked out since I saved some of it in HAND as well as get the Prehistoric and Galactic Eras put in place with the help of strategyonly and Civ Fuehrer. More was really more and there was so much potential for greatness such as the expanded resources/goods, flammability, golden era techs, sim city-like needs, advanced civics, electricity, etc.

Looks like I have a big road ahead if I want to get my ideas from the drawing board to reality.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong Afforess is a very talented modder and I ment no offense by my comments. Without him I would have never learned how to mod myself. I am sorry if my comments came off as harsh or ungrateful for his work. It was not ment to be.

Your comments don't bother me Hydro. Yes, RAND development is pretty much finished.

Constant adding of new stuff is what largely kept AND from being close to balance for last 1.5 years or so. In basically every version there were gamebreaking things. Also, for every new things being added, we don't only need graphics and icons but most important - teach AI how to properly use it, otherwise AI becomes more and more crippled.

It had to be stopped somewhere for sake of playability. I like diversion in AND, Aaranda multiple religions and wonders, holy wars theme and such, but i have to admit they broke balance in many many games i played.

Before being added new stuff must be tested for compatibility, to see how good AI utilize those features, and how much it affects game balance in total.

I have a lot of

TXT_KEY_RESTRICTED_UNIT

in my civilopedia under units

I have the latest version and the patch

is that supposed to happen?
