Man Arrested for 1,000th Time YAY!

He is wasting his life (his right) but also taxpayer money...

Should get him to buy a bullet instead :P that will end his misery.

VRWCAgent hit the nail on the head.

I've seen allot of guys (& some women) like this over the years. They are homeless alcoholics. They don't want to go to a shelter because the shelters don't allow alcohol. They panhandle or steal enough to buy enough cheap beer or rotgut liquor/wine to get smashed & then they either get themselves arrested or make up an illness & ask someone to call them an ambulance. Then they have a place to sleep out of the elements & a free meal if they can still stomach solid food. It's a big burden on the taxpayer. I don't know what the solution is.

This is why I never give anything to a panhandler. The money is always used to fund an addiction, not to purchase food or shelter.

What's unusual about this case is that the guy has been destroying himself for so long without dying or getting killed & that he has stayed in the same area for so long. Usually, the locals get fed up with these guys & force them to move on to other pastures. It's really the only way to get rid of them.

if the taxpayer can bail out fanny mae, i'm sure he can afford a few meals for a few bums...

1. We can't afford the bailout. It's going straight to our national debt. That's another topic.

2. Close to 3000 meals so far is more than a "few." You're also forgetting the following:
-Court fees.
-Public defender fees.
-Law enforcement payroll.
-Cost of law enforcement equipment.
-Jail maintenance costs.
-Jail staff payroll.

All of these expenses come from the local coffers-paid for by sales & property taxes collected at the city or county level. That means less money to keep streets repaired, to fund schools, to investigate & prosecute serious crimes & to maintain parks for starters.

All of this is simply because the guy won't sober up & move into a shelter where he would receive bathing facilities, clean clothes, food, shelter, job counselling & addiction counselling. There's just no way to defend this guy.
