Man can get 5 years for reading wife's e-mail

Does Michigan not have adultery laws still on the books? Seems to me the man was the innocent and the wife the guilty party of a crime here.

The adultery laws I'm fairly certain are not enforced, but for hitting the kid, that's a crime...

Adultery is obviously no buisness of the state

Would you believe I know people who disagree...

My Employer owns my computer at work. He can check my emails.
If you work for a publically traded company, can every shareholder check your emails? If you ran a two man partnership, can your partner access the partnership-owned computer at your desk an access your personal email accounts without your authorization?

it's a violation of the privacy of another - just because they're married doesn't give him that right

still, 5 years is too harsh

Way, way too harsh. I agree with an earlier poster, just fine him. Of course, I let my wife read my mail, so maybe I'm strange. Actually, I'm not big on privacy. Anybody investigating my life would die of boredom.

I actually would be willing to pay the fine in order to find out I should dump my spouse.

I don't think he did anything wrong at all. They were married, she has no business hiding things from him, nor he from her.

To be honest, yeah probably. I wouldn't marry someone that wanted to keep secret emails from me.

I agree. If you trust a person enough to want to marry them, then you should trust them to know everything about you, and vice versa.

Why does marriage allow you to violate the privacy of your spouse? Does this exemption extend to friendships? Employee's? Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
