I noticed that there was no map of Beleriand in the Civfanatics forums. We have lots of LOTR maps and mods, but appearantly nothing about the wars of the First Age (or maybe I just couldn't find it  ) So I made this map.
It's 50x50. It's not very large but I think it might be useful for a short ancient/middle age conquest game. I may make a small mod when I've finished a larger project I'm working on now. My idea was to make it as a multiplayer alliance vs. AI scenario: An alliance of Men, Elves and Dwarves trying to survive the attacks of orcs and balrogs while experiencing (=researching) the stories of the First Age until they can finally send Eärendil across the ocean and get the help of the Valar.
No rule changes have been made. Starting locations have been placed in Angband (which has been placed further south than in the "real" world), Vinyamar, Brithombar, Nargothrond, Menegroth, Gondolin, Himring and Belegost.

IrfanView says it's a bmp file incorrectly named as a pcx. Maybe that helps?

The map is Great!!!

If you make a scenario maybe you could make mountains impassible so gondolin is truly hidden like in the silmarillion.

That's exactly what I'm going to do if I make the scenario.
I like how that would reduce the primary defence line to Eithel Sirion (Turgon of Gondolin), Minas Tirith (Finrod Felagund of Nargothrond) and the areas near Himring (Maedhros of the Sons of Fëanor). It will be just like in the book - and it will really make it necessary for the different Elvish factions to cooperate. For once the line of defence has been broken, surviving will become very difficult.

Right now there is a pass on the map in the northern part of Ered Luin that will allow the Dwarves and Orcs to fight each other, but maybe I should remove it because it is not like in the real story. And the Dwarves should probably use most of their time trying to build an army big enough to RoP King Thingol to get the Nauglamir (now how do I make that happen in the game???)
