Wanted to say thx for such a nice mod.

I have noticed few minor bugs where some buildings have squared border.
Here what I have found: Military academy, Opera House.
Not sure what is the reason of this.

Also is it possible you consider adding option to replace Glowing border radius to a thicker solid border radius to differentiate effectiveness of building?

thanks for the feedback! i can reproduce the graphical flaw, but there's nothing i can do about it. you can see the same faint square in the Civilopedia entries for those two buildings, which means that it's a flaw in the game's graphical assets. changing the glow wouldn't help with that, because the whole ring is behind the icon, and the square is part of the icon.

is there a different reason you want to remove the glow? options are a lot of work to implement and maintain, between design and testing and localization. it's not something i do lightly, and i'm not inclined to turn off one of my favorite design elements unless there's a strong reason for it.

To be honest, this is purely aesthetic opinion.
Logic wise, I fully support the idea behind distinguishing operational building from outdated one.
But if we talk about graphical style picked for Civ 7, shadow-color-glow isn't that popular, seem like the designers favored sharp elements more.


So yeah, I do understand this isn't a strong reason, specifically if glow holds a "special place" in creators heart




Upd. Regarding the buggy border effect. Just a blind shot. Is it possible to add some kind of alpha mask image (svg or png) to remove all the excess, leaving a pure circle icon?

i think the glow fits in well with all of the other gradient effects in the UI, like the shimmer across buttons and titles, the subtle inner glow on borders, and the (less subtle) glowing hex cursor. my direct inspiration was the original top bar, which displays yields in shimmery glowing colors, hehe. i replaced that because it was hard to read, but the effect was cool!

modders currently have very limited access to game assets. i think we can replace icons, but it's far enough outside my skillset that i don't think it's worth the effort for a minor cosmetic problem.
 
ha, the glitch in those icons is visible on the building screen if you look close enough. i'm going to call that out of scope for this mod. they might eventually fix the original assets, and there are modders who like to fix exactly this kind of thing. i'll leave it up to them.

thank you for the translations! i'll review them and include them in a future update.
edit: changes look good to me. currently planning my next update for Tuesday, after the DLC patch.
