Mass Effect 3

I want to combine Heavy Charge with Singularity to knock a dozen baddies like pinballs.

Or, ooh, I want to combine Geth Shield Boost with Krogan Fortitude to make Shepard the Highlander.

Or... hm... Throw with Pull to tear a goon's limbs off!

Personally I never even bothered with any of the romancing stuff. Just kind of ignored it.

Dude, kinky alien sex is like half the reason to play the game.

Jesus christobal I'm not reading ANYMORE NEWS. Bioware just loves spoiling the entire plot of its games doesn't it?

Actually, it seems like at least half of the information given out in any one article is either speculative or out-and-out false. They're chiefly useful for screenshots, if they have new ones. For instance, direct contradiction of the "no new LI" scoop:

That Twitter in its strictest grammatical sense doesn't contradict the "no new LIs" statement. If only "some of it" is romantic, it could be precluded to only the former love interests.

It was in response to a question asking if there will be new LIs; it's implausible that he would've said all that if a simple "no" would've sufficed, which wouldn't have spoiled anything, either.

It's not.

How is that not a spoiler?

Because it's already been stated by game magazines...?

But the very premise here is that the game magazines aren't absolutely trustworthy, "either speculative or out-and-out false."

Yes, but we know that for other reasons. For instance, James Sanders' name was misreported everywhere; apparently it's James Vega. ("Sanders" might've been a placeholder name.) It was reported that there would be a seventh class, focused on melee; this is blatantly false and has been directly contradicted by devs. It was reported that Miranda and Jacob won't return in ME3; this is nonsense. Repeatedly, magazines (especially the Official PlayStation Magazine) have been guilty of either misrepresenting or completely falsifying plot details and gameplay mechanics from the previous two games, as well.

In addition, there's loads of stuff that's pure speculation. Ash/Kaidan being Spectres is a guess. Wrex being a temp squadmate instead of a permanent one is a guess. The inclusion of space battles is a guess. All speculation that "RPG elements will be reduced" is a guess with absolutely no support (every single dev comment wrt "RPG elements" has been that they'll be more important, and Hudson and Norman have specifically stated that exploration and roleplaying and a character-driven story are some of the highlights that have been most important in game design going forward). Tali being a squadmate is a guess. The inclusion of more species is a guess. The way powers mesh together is wild mass guessing; it seems like no two magazines have the same idea about how upgrades will be done.

But regardless, I'm pretty sure something can be a spoiler regardless of whether it's true or not.

OK, so everything you said indicates that we don't really know anything we've been told by magazines, including whether or not there will be new love interests, and therefore...

I'm pretty sure something can be a spoiler regardless of whether it's true or not.

... we have to take the Tweet without prior assumptions, and the Tweet is not explicit about whether there will or will not be new love interests.

I'm talking about the big Cerberus reveal in PrinceScamp's post. Whether or not it turns out to be true, the potential shock has already been diluted for me.

Oh well, my fault for opening the spoiler.
