Mass Effect [Game Thread - Concluded]

Third on bandwagon is mafia, n'est ce pas, Monsieur Winston?

Au contraire, Madamoiselle Takhisis, in my experience it's more often the person who says 'third on bandwagon is mafia' who is actually scum. Especially when they don't even have the stones to back it up with a vote.

And, indeed, this was an exceedingly bad move on your part, because it made me take a closer look at your posting history in this thread... :wow:

You've posted twenty-eight times, but haven't even managed to cast a vote on two of the three lynches so far. In fact, the only lynch vote you've cast at all was for CivGeneral - a player with whose MO you are very familiar indeed. You know full well that CG tends to be a rather nervous and indecisive player, and that abstaining is exactly the kind of thing he tends to do when he doesn't have teammates to guide him. You also know full well that if he picks up a couple of votes, CG is pretty much guaranteed to get a full bandwagon on him. In other words, you knew that his abstention was more likely to be evidence of innocence than guilt, and you also knew that voting for him would probably result in his getting lynched.

And whilst you haven't been using your vote to apply any pressure, throughout the game you have been slinging mud at all and sundry. Taken as a whole, your posting history suggests somebody aiming to look active, and to get people thinking suspicious thoughts about each another, but who is also very keen indeed to avoid the danger of receiving an OMGUS vote in return.

Well, this is me calling you out on that. I think you're scum.

interesting analysis.
I will give it some tought, and I will vote for Takhisis

Wait, why is this the second day without a planet vote? Today we will be helping the settlers, obviously, but wouldn't we go to a different planet by tonight (after the outpost received our assistance)? Or not?

Also, Darid, why did you vote for a planet yesterday? Why did you think a specific planet was an option?

Probably means that you're going to Noveria next regardless.

Could also be Virmire.

Once again, where does this come from? Your the second person to confidently mention it as a likely nearby destination! :gripe:

Winston's got me pretty much convinced, Takhisis.

Yeah, those votes do look somewhat opportunistic. Autolycus

OOG announcement:

Spoiler :
I am hosting a game somewhere in the great big elsewhere. One that won't take a billion hours a week to host.

I would like a couple of volunteers, maybe three or four, to represent the CFC/org (etc) mafia crew in a game with 30+ natives of their forum.

Couple of things to note before you join:

1) Their board culture is a bit different from ours (think opposite of 2+2... much less talkative, much less competitive, more emphasis on fun, friendly, polite, and roleplay etc) and it is important to me that we preserve their board culture and assimilate into it while we're over there.

2) The game is based on the Toy Story movies, and will include a larger number of village power roles than typical, but I balanced that out by including villagers that are told they have a certain power, but, like a Naive Cop, their power is worthless. That way networking is borked and village cannot typically brute force a win. Private messaging not allowed, quicktopics provided by game host are the only legal means of private comms.

3) I only want to introduce a few players who will be on their best and friendliest behavior, to give a good impression. I'm not like the guardian gatekeeper of their board, but I have found a really nice board to play on with 30-40 active players who aren't jerks, so I want to do the following: Not mess up their unique board culture by injecting dozens of foreign players who crowd out their games on their own turf, and eventually, invite folks from there over to our places. Which could help at places like the Org which are needing people, and here, which is still active but fresh blood could be welcome.

4) So it's primarily a diplomatic mission. You will play there for the glory and honor of CFC (and the org, if thats your native site) and also to have fun. It may be my final game hosting ever, so.... if so, you may want in.

5) My inbox is full at the org and I'm not getting PM notifications from CFC at all, for some unknown reason. As such, if you are interested in being part of what may be my farewell hosting experience, I'm going to need you to fire me off an email at Askthepizzaguy at yahoo dot com, identifying yourself and requesting the link.

6) I only have space for a few players, and want the game to be mostly natives of the other site. If you want to join this game, I may not have space, and will put you on the reserve players list, so you can join if someone goes inactive. If you're not chosen to be an active player right away, it's simply because I only want a few peeps from foreign sites to start off the game.

Okay! thanks everyone for your time!

A solid analysis.

Oh yeah? Double FOS.

Yeah, those votes do look somewhat opportunistic. Autolycus

Them jumping on the bandwagon like that when they've barely posted (e350tb has 6 posts, Autolycus has 5).

However, then there's TaliZorah. I hadn't even realized they were still alive; TaliZorah has all of four posts in the thread:

Spoiler the entirety of TaliZorah's post history :

TaliZorah would love to have a look at that Prothean Artifact.

Thank you for your thoughtful words, edse, but I am fine. Just a little headache. Made worse by some of the crazy players you have here.

Let's dance

Noveria

This Jarrema person tickles my mandibles.

Jarrema

Help

Reasoning here.

One vote for themselves as the one to examine the Prothean artifact, a vote on Jarrema with seemingly no justification at all, a single emoticon, and then another vote on Jarrema while lampshading the lack of reasoning presented. No reasoning is ever presented anywhere, not even a "X raises a good point". Only the bare minimum of activity.

hmm... Ok, I see what happened with the planets. unvote.

The primary cases right now are Takhisis, BSmith and TaliZorah.

Winston's reasoning on Takhisis is quite convincing, so I'm inclined to follow it.

I also find the following post:
BSmith said:
Yeah, those votes do look somewhat opportunistic. Autolycus
extremely ironic. Its an opportunistic vote, that accuses others of opportunistic voting, and is done in order to very strongly discourage further votes on Takhisis. Could BSmith and Taki be a scumteam?

vote:Takhisis: Lets find out.

Thanks for the volunteers. I'm good now. Sorry if you missed it, folks.

Let's see… I made a joking comment at Winston about him being third on a bandwaggon. Then he builds a case… on me being scummy, prodding everyone and not voting. That happens quite often -Master Kennigit, please show them the chart. A lot of people suddenly vote for me… how interesting. Are you convinced that I am not part of a scumteam?

Two more marines, dead. What a shame.

~~~~~
After finally finishing helping the colonists fix their dilapidated outpost, the team presses on. Unfortunately, they ran across the Thorian, an ancient Jedi plant. It has taken control of Frozen In Ice and TaliZorah, who have now turned their blasters against the rest of the team. Will you try and save them from the Thorian's control... or kill them and be done with it?
Vote to lynch someone by bolding their name.
Vote to try and save the Thorian slaves in bolded blue, or to go ahead and kill them in bolded red.
It is now Day Six.
