Mass Effect [Game Thread - Concluded]

Upon further examination, I have a suggestion.

The majority of all players should choose the paragon option, meaning Blue.

That means you need to volunteer yourself for the dangerous mission.

This will end up having rewards later on, if taking risks and acting virtuously and heroically do, which are typically the harder choices to make, but the right ones.

However, we need to be realistic and pragmatic: If everyone volunteers themselves, we may accidentally send someone important into a situation where their health or shields are damaged.

As such, my full recommendation is that most of us "volunteer" for the paragon option, but someone actually and truly volunteers, and a few select people choose the renegade option, which is to vote to "force" the volunteer to do the thing they volunteered for.

In the end, more persons will have chosen the blue option, but the risk to the whole is lessened, and we can still use the red option to make a selection.

We only have a day remaining, can I get some support on this idea?

I won't speak for TaliZorah, but they did volunteer- so for example, if Tali is willing to take the risk, those voting for Tali should leave their votes where they are, and everyone else should volunteer themselves for the dangerous mission, knowing full well they won't actually be chosen.

Thoughts, comments, disagreements.

I'm a renegade I do what I want.

But what if I want to be ruthless? Also I don't see why being more paragon will have rewards, it does explicitly state in the rules that just because its blue, doesn't make it right, or good (and red doesn't mean bad/evil/wrong), it will have an effect for sure, but assuming that its a reward and there isn't a reward for the other option, and then basing D1 strategy on it seems very early for me. Unless I misread something, which is more than likely.

As such, I do agree the 'right' choice is to choose someone who has volunteered for it, such as Visorslash.

TBH, I feel like Pizza's suggestion might be PIS. Its never stated in the writeup that Paragon would give us advantages, or that Renegade would harm us. Of course, my knowledge of the franchise is limited, so it may be that Pizza derived this from the source material...

I read the opening posts, and I've never played mass effect, and my entire knowledge of the series is limited to the laughable social controversy related to the romance content.

My PIS is reading the opening posts and then extrapolating based purely on experience playing and designing forum games.

He was a cop, and good at his job. But then he committed the ultimate sin and testified against other cops - gone bad. Cops who tried to kill him, but got the woman he loved instead. Framed for murder, now he prowls the badlands. An outlaw hunting outlaws, a bounty hunter - a RENEGADE!

That's a curious reaction. Pizza's got a valid point here, and its not one that seems to rely upon any insider knowledge. From what we've seen so far, the most likely result of an uncoordinated voting policy will be to force someone to look at the thing. Without someone stepping forward to suggest doing it deliberately, I think it quite unlikely that the number of volunteers would end up exceeding the number pushing someone else forward. Of course, it being the less likely option doesn't mean the consequences will necessarily work out any better for us. But I can see how a GM might set it up so that the town gets rewarded for getting its act together.

Who told you my life story?!

I'll show up later in the day; I assume I will just self vote myself anything because I'm the best marine out here.

Neither Paragon nor Renegade is the "correct" path, even though Bioware thinks anyone who plays Renegade is literally Hitler. Still, you can do a few very major decisions without your morality being affected, and save the galaxy either way. In this game, I expect Paragon is help everyone and Renegade is either help yourself or "HUMANITY FIRST!!!!1111"

Paragade is clearly the best though. Double A.

Not quite. You are reneging from something. Therefore, you're doing its opposite. You're living by their rules,
Sniffing glue? Surely you can't be serious.
He is serious and don't call him Shirley.
It was really a bad day, what with my drinking problem and all, if I wasn't up to make that reply myself.

I'll quote yourself and say that…
That's a curious reaction. When has Winston Hughes taken such a liking to El Pizzahombre before? Fish Finger of Suspicion: Winston Hughes
Pizza speak with much wisdom as usual for once. I volunteer gladly, knowing I won't be chosen. vote: edse
This is also decidedly twisty. FishFinger of Suspicion: edse

Actually, I was pointing my FFoS at edse because of the 'I volunteer because I'll lose' thing.

Not really. I have no interest in investigating the beacon or the results, so I'm making it someone else's problem so I can focus on more important things like what I'm going to have for dinner.

Roast meat (with mustard an onions) and potatoes. With some beer. What else could you have for dinner?
