Michael Moore's new movie banned in the US

Shock and awe stonesfan, shock and awe.
No need for truth or honesty when they both happen to be soooo boring. :crazyeye:

Less than 24 hours after accusing the Walt Disney Company of pulling the plug on his latest documentary in a blatant attempt at political censorship, the rabble-rousing film-maker Michael Moore has admitted he knew a year ago that Disney had no intention of distributing it.

So he's a liar, what's new? But does that make it right for Disney to block it?

Disney/Miramax claims they were never going to distribute the movie, just finance it.

I wouldn't consider that as "blocking" the film. I'm sure there's plenty of distributors that will gladly distribute this film, if they feel it has money making potential.

Typical Michael Moore tactic: take a grain of truth and dip it into a vat of boiling b.s.

Viola! B.S. covered truth.

This is why I lost any respect I had for the man. I hate to wade through blind rhetoric to find a point.

The sad part is....there's so many people out there that takes his "documentaries" to be fact.

If MM really wanted to distribute this movie, he could release it for free on the Internet (on his website) and reach a more wide ranging audience than any movie theater. Of course, where's the money in that ??

Private companies have the full right not to distribute movies they dont like.

Unless they signed a contract severely limiting the cases in which they could refuse to distribute the movies.

And of course, private citizens have the full right to scream like bloody hell when private companies decide not to distribute movies on account of their political viewpoint.

Freedom of the press may belong to those who own one, but luckily freedom of speech still belongs to everyone.

Man, talk about biased spin in the topic title.

This means one thing and one thing only: Miramax will not be releasing the movie. Moore will find another distributor and the controversy over this will probably make his film a lot more succesful than it would be otherwise. Moore will be free to say and do whatever he wants.

There is no great government conspiracy here to take away anyone's rights, simply a company chosing not to release a movie. It happens all the time.

SN, I'm starting to get scared about how much I am agreeing with you lately.

Silly thread title. BTW NPR said the same thing yesterday.

Not that I doubt Mr Moore's interest in money, but he could plausibly argue that he needs the money to make further films exposing the evils of the 'stablishment.

Then he could charge people to download his movie over the Internet. :)
Then he can join forces with Metallica and the RIAA if anyone decides to pirate his movie and put it on file sharing systems for free. It would actually be a match made in heaven. RIAA is also pretty good at twisting facts to meet their agendas. ;) :D
