Mini-NOTW I: "To Kill a Mockingbird" (Game Thread)

Paulus, you will be hanged for this. Kill me. Kill me if it will statisfy you barbaric whims, but almighty Lugus will cast you into hell for your crimes.

Paulus, if I die this day then make no mistake that you will soon follow. You are a sinner, and I have proven it before God. You have been systematically killing off those who suspect you, and strong men like Sepuku and myself. You know that with just one more murder after I am gone you will be able to overwhelm the rest of the village and satisfy your perverse ambition.

Agares take you, scum.

Paulus, Ekolite seems pretty adamant that you are a sinner and killer. You are adamant that he is the killer, it's a game of his word against yours and the way things look, the city guard will be dead anyway.

I shall cast my lot to hang Ekolite, if nothing else but to see if Paulus is lying or not. I do hope you are right, Paulus. I do hope so.

"Perhaps I was wrong about calling you an agent of Esus, Ekolite... because they, at least, seem to get some people to follow along with their lies.

You on the other hand are getting more and more ridiculous by the day. You claim I have murdered my friend the mayor, who had been voting against you? You claim I have murdered my friend the blacksmith, who has defended me against accusations? You claim I have murdered the bard, who provided us with music after some vile monster killed Clairone?

Speak for yourself, killer. Good luck spreading falsehoods in hell."

Update: Evening (day 3)
The villagers, finally having gained the resolve to hang someone, drag Ekolite, the guard, to an improvised gallow in the city square. He resists as they drag him closer and fasten the noose around his neck: "Don't you see! You're just making it easier for him!"

But the crowd is determined, and the noose is tightened around his neck - as they remove the barrel he is standing on, Ekolite's body spasms for a moment before becoming limb. Examining him closely, the villagers end up finding nothing that would prove his guilt.

Spoiler :
Ekolite was innocent!

They decide to check his house in the morning to see if he possessed anything useful, and then they go to eat in the inn. The atmosphere is heavy, and especially the magic acolyte, PaulusIII, is getting some evil glances. At last, they all return to their homes to sleep.

It is now night! Any items Ekolite had will be voted for tomorrow.

An accused no longer needs to have more than one vote's difference to get lynched.

It is now night! Night people send me orders! Day comes in roughly 24 hours!

Ghost comment: Gutted :p

Another Ghost's Comments: Sad day, and I suspected you too! seems I was fumbling in the dark with only anothers suspicions to base my own off of....whoever this monster is, your playing very well and I am still trying to figure out who you are. :hammer2:
Either way, this ghost is losing its power to speak and the last thing I can say is I hope you guys do what I couldn't and end this monster...

Update: Morning (day 4):

A merciless wind swept through the village this morning, chilling its inhabitants to the bone as they woke up one by one and walked out in the streets to meet at the city plaza. As usual, while waiting for the last few people to arrive, the storyteller told a little story, although this time it was of an entirely different kind...

The Storyteller said:
Someone once told me of a man named Rathus Denmora - A Sidar, evidently regarded for his master talents in the arts of stealing and assassination.

Rumour has it, I have been told, that he even managed to steal a dangerous weapon from under the Radiant Guard's noses - a weapon which stains the victims flesh with ashen colour. It is called the Nether Blade. But what is more frightening is that one of the best Sidar blacksmiths - who evidently is very good - has managed to produce weapons almost like this one, although they are rare still.

The small group of people looked at each other in horror - had the victims of the killer not been tainted in the same ashen colour? It seemed that their fears of a Sidar attack had been true. But who?

They then realized that they still needed someone. The magic adept, PaulusIII, was missing. They walked down the street, stopping on the way to check Ekolite's possessions, where a sword was discovered, before moving down to PaulusIII's home.

As they entered, they almost stepped on the slim body of the magic adept. After bringing some light into the dark and cave-like room, they also discovered the cause of his death: Around his mouth was a small stain of sickly green-tainted blood: PaulusIII had been poisoned!

Spoiler :
PaulusIII was innocent!

The villagers frowned as they walked back out to the plaza; had the killer changed tactic? A few of them sent very telling gazes towards the hunter, Thomas.Berubeg, who had recieved a vial of poison by vote one of the first days.

It is now day! Accusations and support votes as usual, Vote for Ekolite's sword in bold grey.

Night falls in roughly 72 hours

Sure...

Paulus spent the past few days convincing me Kol was the killer, showing me bits and pieces of evidence. Since these were false, I assumed that Paulus was working to get Kol out of the way, as Kol was a potentially immensly powerful character.

Kol? I think you mean Ekolite there buddy. Unfortunatly this has ended by ideas. But may I guess that means you are admittting to poisoning Paulus? Should that be true that means our killer with a sword is still out there. But I'm running out of ideas. The only one I can think of that would be in regular contact with outsiders, as well as likely to have a balde on hand is out good friend, Lightfang the merchent. I'm sure many of you have spotted the gaps in my logic, feel free to come talk to me about it if you would like to know more. Also if I'm presented better evidence in the way of someone else's guilt, I'm amendable to that.

(OOC: I call ekolite kol out of long habit...)

IceKommander, Yes, I poisoned Paulus. my reasons are above.

OOC: He *was* Kol7

Well, Paulus is innocent apparently. It seems he was duped - and I think I know who duped him. The two big suspects are thomas and Tasslehoff. Explain why you and Paulus were to keen to get Ekolite killed. Now the only one who could protect us is gone.

Tasslehoff is a maniac who can get his hands on a blade and by definition a *hunter* should be able to get his hands on a blade too.

Once the maniac explains himself, we'll see which of you too is a killer.

Why did I want to kill Ekolite?
Simple: I thought he was the wolf. With good reason, that I have already explained to you.

Paulus was a "nightwatcher." He could tell who was out at night, and he had seen Ekolite walking around at night. This made him suspcious. In addition, our dear mayor, the night before he died, sent out a message. Knowing he was likely the next target, he passed info to several trusted sources. Ekolite was one citizen who had repeatedly refused to answer PMs - extremely suspicious. Lastly, he was extroardinarily eager to kill off Paulus, of whose innocence I was, if not assured, convinced. I suspected he was a wolf pretending to be a prophet.

I am no killer, and I know for a fact that neither is the hunter. I am quite tired of this extroardinary prejudice against me for being a "Maniac." I am not insane. I have knowledge and contact with beings that you can not fathom. I am not insane, you just, in your ignorance, labeled me thus.

Uh, how about me, I'd sure like to know the logic someone's trying to put together to hang me.

For example: wouldn't the traveller also come into contact with outsiders and have a sword for defense? Why are you even hanging based on this criteria? There's no reason why a Hunter wouldn't have a sword. Or even an innocent Maniac who needs to defend himself from our prejudices.

So what we have here are two people who are the biggest suspects of being the killer defending each other.

Tonight I'm going to drink for future. I'm gonna drink to the King. I'm gonna drink for finally catching our killer, the merchant Lightfang.

Can you guys at least present an argument as to why you're hanging me? Seriously.

I am also going to vote for LightFang. I'll even be kind enough to present evidence.

Part 1- Winston Hughes. He knew he was going to die, the night he was killed. In that night, he sent out a message to several people. He named three suspicious characters: Ekolite, LightFang, and one other (remaining unnamed). This was based on their refusal to share any information with him, as well as failure to respond to further inquiries and information gathered from other sources. The next morning, he was dead.

Part 2 - Me. I have access to knowledge beyond your comprehension. Unfortunately, it is also often beyond my comprehension. This knowledge comes to me in the form of cryptic dreams. Last night, my dream showed a bag of coins, clearly representing a merchant, resisting the strike. .of a giant emerald. I believe the emerald has multiple meanings. One of them is poison. The other could be a great number of things. Either way, your appearance is suspicious.

Now, perhaps you'd be willing to be more open about your abilities, you might be able to explain my dream and convince us about your innocence.
