Mini-NOTW II: "Making Money" - Game Thread

Clad in a more sober - but no less expensive - outfit of black and white silk, the Fine Clothes Trader affects a intellectual posture, stroking his chin with a velvet-clad hand.

My dear Armour Trader, your reasoning leaves much to be desired.

You say that no-one would be foolish enough to kill the one who accused him... But who is to say such a move would be foolish?

After all, Sepuku's death seems to have swayed your vote away from Kulko. If the latter is indeed responsible for this murder, then you at least have already fallen for the ruse.

Who is to say you aren't the one who have fallen for the ruse my dear Clothes Trader? Or maybe you haven't fallen for the ruse but you are trying to make us fall for it Winston.

One feels that we are going to have to be careful in these coming days.

Struth, I wish only to see my colourful wears selling.

Who is to say you aren't the one who have fallen for the ruse my dear Clothes Trader? Or maybe you haven't fallen for the ruse but you are trying to make us fall for it Winston.

Of course, these are reasonable questions to ask.

But which is more likely to be true? Would a murderer who had yet to receive any accusations expose himself to suspicion in this manner? Or would a murderer who has already been accused - and in the most direct and strident terms - kill his accuser in the hope that the accusation dies along with him?

Your choice.

Perhaps it is the silent ones that we should worry about. Seon, you are a slave trader yet you are completely quiet. Where are your slaves? Are they hiding in the forest killing us at night based on your bidding?

I do not have any slaves with me at the moment, and your claim does not make any sense, if I let slaves go into the jungles with a knife and told them to kill people, wouldn't they kill me first and then escape? Why would they hold back on me? If your claim is true, then I am the only one who knows that they are out there, and only thing that stands between their freedom is me.

This trip back to Kwythellar had proven disastrous for me as slaves are more expensive there, so there is no reason for me to go back to Kwythellar at all.

I do not accuse you Bananalee, because I do not think that you are a wolf, it's too early to make that sort of decision as to hang another soul for me.

(OOC: I'll be away from the computer until late Wednesday.)

When the morning broke and the proceedings of last night had been discovered, lout discussion broke out and the cries for the blood of the Lancer was oonce more to be heard. So when everybody quieted down a bit he stepped in front of all of them and raised his voice to put forward his plea for mercy.

Well as all the accusations are still out there, let me try once more to put in my point on the whole matter.

I have seen enough blood spend in my life as a guard for hire and not all spend for good causes, so yesterday night I opted for compassion rather than for lynching when trying to tell you my opinion on the matter.

(OOC: This is my first online game with support votes and being stretched hard in RL I have not thought long enough about the implications of giving one.)

As for the question out up, of how I came form an alliance with Renata already. Well I don not have an alliance, but when I asked her yesterday for a nice bottle of wine to mull the loss of my fellow CCRunner, we had started some talks. Since I know him from back in Kwjelltar (OOC: The last game) we spoke rather freely, and I left with the small indication, that he is not the killer. this is far from certain. In addition I hate it when people get accused just because they try to get the game started by pointing out the inactives.

Furthermore Sepuku has put together the scenario, that Renata is a wolf and I was desperate enough to save her. As pointed out already yesterday, I just feel affronted by the assumption I am that stupid. If I were a wolf, I know that all my actions must be put together very carefully, and I would therefore had taken the time to think things through more carefully, I would definitely have found the easy option of giving one more vote to Moosewarrior to achieve the same effect and had no scrupels to do so. Several of you have played in other games with me (CIV SGOTMs, DGJ etc.) and must be aware that I maybe new to this version of the game but not stupid. Also I would have discussed things with my fellow wolves and since this would have included renata she would have stopped me.

Thirdly people have been outraged that I vote for Mousewarrior at the end of yesterdays day. But I think each of us would have behaved the same way, as Sepukus religious zeal was starting to attract votes against me and I was in danger of overtaking the current leader before the night closed in. As any other human being, survival matters to me and there are so many things that can get better after a goods night sleep, so its only obvious I rather sacrifice somebody else, instead of hoping nobody else comes online anymore and makes a hurried decision, because he sees a bandwagon.

As for the death of the Horse merchant (Sepuku) tonight, I agree with you that this is looking bad, but that can mean anything. Obviously the killer is pleased if another innocent gets lynched tonite without any risk to him, so he sould choose Sepuku to further implicate me too. But the best argument in my favor is actually, that his death is a very mixed blessing for me. Of course his very hostile style has kept the bandwagon running, but as you see there are plenty of others left who will drive it forward now. But still you ask, how was it bad for me. Now tehre are two voices for my death already and I am sure there will be a few more before the noon arrives. My only hope of seeing another sunrise will be if I can point you to another likely target. But who but Sepuku would be such a target? His religious zeal was certainly worth questioning so he was an option, but now since he is gone, this way is blocked too.

I know my fellow men, that all this are only indications, and all of them could ba faked by a wolf too., but all you have to go by are indications either, and are they enough to kill a man over?

Also please consider, that the killer will still be out there tomorrow tryiong to defeat us all. But you will have two guards less left to depend on than you had two days ago. And when the day comes were the killer decides its time to come out in the open, I would be worth more then three of you in an open fight.

I leave you with this to ponder about, as you make up your mind if you want to wash your hands in the blood of another innocent.

So when the caravan finally started to move towards our home town, he reigned in his horse and dropped back as to leave them all tho their own thoughts.

Recently, prices for the raw materials I need to concoct potions has been rising...and as a poor trader, I am little able to afford these increasing costs. Charles Li, has not been forthcoming on why this troublesome problem has occured...I think we should all ask him why this is so, before I am no longer able to provide those little blue pills to all of you...

The theatrical chin-stroking resumes for a short while, and is followed by an even more theatrical announcement, delivered in the style of an aristocratic magistrate, with a grave tone and much hand waving.

Kulko the Lancer, the explanation you have given is some way short of completely reassuring. And it is said that he who defends himself too vigorously is usually a guilty man. But, nevertheless, your words are enough to give me pause for thought.

I hereby retract my accusation against you.

I just got Regeant fever and am boiling some to take it down. Besides, how often is the silent on the killer?

(Starts Counting

when you say I am silent, I will say I wasn't finsihed counting)

Very hard to understand, you are, Charles Li! However, I think that even the silent one can be the killer! That does nothing to allay suspicions.

Tally: Midday, day 2
It seemed as if the rain would never stop pounding down on the small caravan moving slowly along the road. I looked like the rain had robbed most of the merchants their will to speak or vote, although that might also have been caused by their bad luck thus far. It apparently had also annoyed the Fine Clothes Trader, ruining his exquisite silken garments as well as his mood and trust of the others; he had been the first to throw out an accusation, but had later withdrawn it after hearing Kulko's explanation.

It also looked like the traders had completely forgotten that they still had to vote about who should take the light crossbow, seeing as nobody had given it a thought, much less an actual vote.

Tally:
Accusations:
Winston Hughes: Kulko
Oyzar: Winston Hughes
BananaLee: Seon
KingMorgan: Kulko
Krill: Charles Li
Tasslehoff: Charles Li

Total:
Charles Li: 2
Kulko: 1
Seon: 1
Winston Hughes: 1

Light Crossbow:
None!

It also looked like the traders had completely forgotten that they still had to vote about who should take the light crossbow, seeing as nobody had given it a thought, much less an actual vote.

It's more like we are scared that the owner of the crossbow will be killed by the wolves. ;)

Since Seon has spoken, I'll randomly vote Bratmon who hasn't spoken yet today.

{OOC: BTW what happened to the Bow and Arrow we gave Sepuku yesterday in the evening}

It also looked like the recently armed horse trader, Sepuku, had had a bad night. As soon as they realized that he had not exited his tent, they went to check on him and found him murdered, stained in his own blood from a long wound across the throat.

What was more, it seemed like his bow and arrows were nowhere in his belongings. In fact, nothing of interest was found on his body.

There it is.

Ah so the thief probably needs to name item and person to be successful.

When he new Sepuku to have the bow, he choose the easy solution.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.
