Mobius: Total Chaos

Lord Priest Maskab Balam is consulting with his advisors when he receives a… somewhat unexpected visitor

Lord Priest Maskab Balam: Ah, so you think that…
(A smoky, evanescent screech owl swoops into the room. The owl seems to have a somewhat ephemeral quality to it, being simultaneously there and not there)
Lord Priest Maskab Balam (the color draining from his face): Muan. What do you want?
Muan:
In Mitnal we are hearing of things,
Much more valuable than the blood of Kings.
Ah-Puch has sent me;
For I am his trustee,
To ascertain the truth of these springs.
Lord Priest Maskab Balam: You are not welcome here, Muan. Return to Mitnal Immediately.
Muan:
Your response to me borders on obscene,
Why, I am considering dropping you in a ravine!
Now answer my question-
It is just a suggestion
Do not force me to get mean.
K'i'ik the Jaguar Spirit: Muan, you have no power here. Now leave, before we are forced to involve Itzamna!
Muan:
I can see that I’m not welcome here,
What a pity you did not heed your fear,
For when Ah-Puch gets to you,
You shall be as a roux*
And you know that I am quite sincere.
(The owl flies off into the night. Afterwards, all in the room ponder what she said for several minutes. Finally, the Eagle Spirit, Ek', speaks up)
Ek’ the Eagle Spirit: We cannot concern ourselves with Muan and her threats now; though she is able to slip past the guards at the rift, Ah-Puch would never be able to- the other Gods will not let him. No, without the power of the Chaos Energy behind him, Ah-Puch will remain trapped in Mitnal for a long while.
Lord Priest Maskab Balam: While I want to be able to agree with you, Ek’, I simply cannot shake the feeling that Ah-Puch will find a way onto Mobius. If we are to confine him to Mitnal indefinitely, we must harness the Chaos Energy for ourselves.
Ek’ the Eagle Spirit: Humph. I can respect your opinion, though I do not share it.
Lord Priest Maskab Balam: Thank you, my friend. Now, K'i'ik, would you be willing to go carry this year’s expansion plans to the Army & Navy? I have to consult Itzamna.
K'i'ik the Jaguar Spirit: Of course, my friend.

Spoiler Limerick Explanations :
In the First Limerick, Muan is asking about the Chaos Energy wells
In the Second Limerick, Muan is threatening violence if her query is not answered
In the Third Limerick, Muan is telling them that when Ah-Puch gets ahold of them, they will be eaten

------------

Lord Priest Maskab Balam has requested an audience with the Great God Itzamna; his request is about to be granted

(A great being, larger than a skyscraper, with scaly, chitinous, skin & a bulbous red nose materializes at the Great Temple in Otoch K'aax. The Lord Priest bows deeply before the apparition)
Itzamna: What is it you require, my servant?
Lord Priest Maskab Balam: Advice, my master. The vile servant of Ah-Puch, Muan, has managed to sneak into our lands; she claims that Ah-Puch will get to the Chaos Energy, & then use our bodies as ingredients in a sauce for his food.
Itzamna: That is indeed dire news, my servant; Muan may have no power on Mobius, but many of Ah-Puch’s other lackeys do. Ah-Puch himself will not be able to come here without the extra power of the Chaos Energy, but his demons would have little difficulty crossing the rift… I shall need to ponder this matter for some time. Farewell for now, my servant.
(The massive being evaporates into a dark mist, which dissipates into the surrounding air. Within seconds, it is impossible to tell that there was ever anything unusual in the air around the Temple)

*A French cooking sauce.

Mosher, I know you like being my enemy and all, but just don't expand any further north or northwest.

Oh you all know saying I have too much free time being the reason I GM is a cover. The real reason is I derive pleasure from watching my players writhe.

swickedsmile.png

Does that mean I get nukes?

Get hit by them? Well, if you're that eager...

:p

Chaos Storms WILL start hitting here soon, though. Should make for some amusing changes.

Does that mean I get nukes?

I was originally going to create New Pripyat much further north, near a black chaos node, but I saw your warning in Chatango and decided to move it further south.

Cool beans.

"So. Not only are we 'known', we are known enough to be considered a threat." Slouched in his chair, Sturm drummed his fingers on the table as he eyed his assembled pack of officers. "Now, tell me how this state of affairs came to pass."

Generalleutnant von Buelow cleared his throat nervously. "We suspect it to be embezzlement. When we checked official records against what we actually had, there was a discrepancy of 22 billion units."

"Which is why it can't be embezzlement," the general retorted. "We own the economy here; anyone running about what that much money will be noticed." Sturm leaned back and let out an aggravated sigh. "Gott verdammt. They don't even have a central government and already they need an intelligence bureau."

"We could train spies," interjected Generalmajor Aularch. "There's bound to be someone around here who has the experience."

"And how exactly would we go about doing that discreetly? 'Spies Wanted: Apply Within'? We don't even have any agents ourselves, so who's going to train them?"

"Begging your pardon, sir, but we do have one," interrupted Albrecht.

"Who?"

"British. Um, I don't know exactly what he was doing on the ship; I don't think he knows either."

"Oh dear God," Sturm breathed, face falling rapidly, "You don't mean-?"

"I'm afraid so, sir."

Aularch smirked. "It's a start. We could use him as a punching bag for the recruits."

"Fine," Sturm exhaled through gritted teeth, "Go see if he's up for an assignment. And make sure to keep him clear of the female officers, or he'll have a devil of a time staying focused. And Kameraden," he added, "As of this moment we are operating in a hostile environment. The natives may be friendly, but there are others out there who have demonstrated they are not. You know what to do. Dismissed."

As the legate reads through the quarterly income reports. She noticed something odd. A theft of nearly 9 gold ingots. Furious at the news, Legate Nozomi instituted her own special forces for the accounting department. In the meantime, Nozomi went to the accounting department and gone through the general accounting journal published earlier by a collaboration of many factions on Mobius. Utilizing forensic accounting, she browsed through the ledgers of each faction. Considering that the East Republic Company was not the only one that were hit by agents of an unknown faction(s), the Legate sent emissaries the Bundesleet and Greece to help with forensic accounting and exchange ideas on how to better secure their banks. "Whoever stole our coffers is a dirty coward", the Legate exclaimed. The Legate soon followed up "Apparently whoever is conducting these thefts are targeting the top three economic powerhouses"

iotmedia2.png

In response, the Legate had the banks beef up with armed security guards, beefed up security systems, and agents personally trained by herself. "How does a commander of a company know about espionage?" Maxwell the fox asked, and one of his classmates responded "Well her mother is the Master of the Hajin Mon Sect of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan". Nozomi confirmed the private's story that she was indeed the daughter of both Ayane and the famed Surface Marsha CivGeneral. "It's vital to protect our assets against these, spies" Legate Nozomi said moments before she began training her recruits

iotmedia3.png

With spies sapping coffers out of the top three factions. The news did not hampered the industrial base of the East Republic Company. Factories were being established across the lands of the company holds and many existing manufacturing plants have expanded their infrastructure to meet the neads of an expanding industrial base. In cooperation between the defensive force and military contractors, they've started on their project to begin vastly improving their arms and materiel. While in the private sector, they've started producing Chryslus Motors Corvegas with surplus Corvegas being shipped off world back to the East Republic's home planet.

With news of the East Republic Company starting to gain self sufficancy and starting to churn out goods. The Chancellor of the Republic of Coruscant, Hanna Antilles have made an announcement that she's going to be visiting sometime in the future.

RP:

Near the settlement of Neu Mordheim, reports are coming out of increased violence, strange, twisted landscapes, and even reports of Beastmen (not the Mobian Beastmen, who are relatively docile compared to Chaos Beastmen) and Chaos Cults appearing in the region. In response, several thousand soldiers have been requisitioned by Witch Hunter Ignatius Eisenhertz in order to purge the town, which has undoubtedly been corrupted by the Warp. In the ensuing battle, much of the city was destroyed and the area has been declared off-limits by the Witch Hunters, who have renamed the area "Sigmarsrache" in order to appease Sigmar in possibly purifying the zone.

Meanwhile in Altdorf, Karl Franz is wondering why in the Empire anyone would name their town after a city so corrupt it was destroyed by a comet.

In addition, Greater Reikland is becoming aware of other nations who are in this strange land. In the Eastern Frontier, merchants are frequently turning with up strange goods far beyond the manufacturing capability of any Old World nation, although many could be reversed engineered within a few years. To the south, many new handguns, capable of firing dozens of bullets a minute, are turning up from nations called "The Ottoman Empire" and "Freedom". Of these, the "Aka 74" is one of the most efficient, and Karl Franz is ordering the engineers of Nuln to reverse-engineer them and to make them the standard Hangunner weapon within 3 years.

The dark clouds, as per usual, hung high above head; the occasional peal of thunder, followed by the sudden brightness of lightning, forking down the sky, was commonplace in the Zone. The Freedom soldier was creeping into a small Duty camp; Duty had been active recently... perhaps trying to usurp Freedom's clearly superior position in this strange land. Their black-and-red armor blended in well with the darkness; the only signal that gave away their position was the rubble piled into some sort of defensive position, and the small fire burning in the center of the camp. Three Freedom stalkers were silently finding their positions - waiting for a signal from Loki. It would be a grenade... most of the Duty camp was sleeping - there was one large, communal tent where five of them rested - but two guards stood on guard, training their lights on even the tiniest of sounds. Loki and his squad were some of the best that were still in the CNPP - most of the experienced stalkers had been shipped off to New Pripyat, to explore the anomalies around Yanov Station. Skadolsky squatted, hiding behind a bush... waiting for the blast of a grenade that would end the lives of those sleeping in the communal tent, and signal the attack. In the distance, he could hear the bone-chilling howl of a pseudodog, followed by the lesser moans of the blind dogs that accompanied it. With his First-Gen night vision, he could just see them on the ridge, five-hundred meters away. But he focused on the task at hand... finishing off these Duty scum. He waited patiently for Loki to find his opening.

---------------

Suddenly, light flashed from inside the camp. An explosion was heard; Skadolsky could hear tiny bits of metal hit the concrete barriers that made up the camp's static defenses. He lifted up his AK-74u, located the nearest Duty soldier, and pumped as much lead as possible the loathed Duty member. He dropped easily and quickly, and Loki had already slit the throat of the other one. "Nice work, Loki. Looks like this Duty camp won't be bothering us for a while," remarked Skadolsky. "Yeah, I reckon not," Loki muttered. "Listen, I found stash coordinates in the leaders PDA. It looks like this "stash" is actually the Duty headquarters in the area. I think it's best if we get back to HQ, now... Before more show up."
"Aye, sir. Get moving, men!" Skadolsky called back to the other two. They shouldered their bags, heading back in the vague direction of camp. Loki walked up behind Skadolsky.
"Nice work, Skadolsky. I'll put a word in with Yemen - I bet that old bastard has a GP37 lying around you could use," Loki said to Skadolsky, patting him on the back. "Now, get back to camp before those pseudodogs come down to investigate."
