[MOD] Fall from Heaven

Hey Kael,
Excellent mod. I've played games on it for a couple of days now, especially fiddling around with the religions. Here are some bugs/issues:

1) I produced the Wrath wonder, and no Avatar spawned. Don't really know why this happened.

2) The religion victory is really, REALLY hard to attain. I had a game where I had spread my religion to EVERY city on the map.... but only had around 65% religious influence. Apparently, when their are multiple religions in a town, the town's population is divided among the local religions.

3) The Purge the Unfaithful Wonder cannot remove nonstate religions in the founding cities of the heathen religions. For example I played a game where i founded all of the religions within my cities and created the Purge wonder. All the founding cities kept their founded religions.

That's about it for now. Keep up the modding:goodjob:

Glad you are enjoying it. It is intentional that Purge of the Unfaithful won't remove the religion from the Holy City. Currently there is no way to do that. In Phase 2 there is a plan to have a quest that destroy's the religion. It involves wiping the religion down to the a handful of towns and then defeating the avatar of the religion. That will be the only way to permanently remove a religion from the game.

At that point the Religious victory will be easier too. But yes, I agree, its pretty much impossible now.

As to the Wrath, he doesn't spawn in the city that produced him. The Avatar of Wrath is a very powerful Barbarian unit. Summoning him is opening up pandora's box. He takes over a random city and begins attacking all players. If you don't see him after you finish the wonder thats a very good thing, it means he has spawned in one of your opponents cities.

The Wrath didn't spawn in any city on the map (i had vision in all the cities on the map thanks to religion). I also opened up worldbuilder after this happened, and could not find it.

As for the religion thing, would it be possible that the Purge wonder destroyed all of the founding cities? While that would be very bad for a civ's economy, it would be very helpful in progressing towards a religious victory (the purge's main function).

Kael-

Yes it occurs every time i try to play, i'm gonna do a full reinstall, since you also had the problem, it might be due to a file curroption in the save file, rather than something else

Well the full reinstall fixed it, thanks for your help

The Wrath spawns with movement and he never stays put so you wouldnt have been able to see him with religion spread. See if you can find a barbarian city after you create the wonder (you should get an arrow when it is created that points you toward it) then search the area for the Avatar of Wrath.

Yes that would be very possible to do but I would like to build quests around destroying the religions, not have them wiped with the wonder.

I haven't changed any of these. Are they weakened because the techs that used to boost them are gone?

I was going to mention this, but didn't seem like a big deal. Windmills seem sort of weak now, especially since Dwarven minning adds +1 commerce to mines.

Really enjoying the mod, 'tis great.

I've also had some problems with a couple of the civics, off the top of my head, arete and nature guardian can't be selected (I saw another person had the same problem).

Also, perhaps you could make a kind've eastern religion, and you can sommon dragons 'n stuff? (They saw dragons more as guardians in the east, and it seems a shame to have a fantasy mod with no dragons). Also, is it possible to have religion specific civics and wonders?

In the vanilla game, railways increased the production of mines and lumbermills, lumbermills aren't really worth it without rail.

Yes iots possible to have religion specific civics and wonders. In fact Araete can only be selected if you have the Runes of Kilmorph as your state religion. Likewise Guardian of Nature is only selectable if you are Fellowship of Leaves. Which is why you aren't able to choose them.

I would love to have dragons in the mod but I lack the skill to model the units. Hoepfully once the SDK comes out some talented 3d artists will make dragons and then I will stick them in. Until then I just have to work with what I got.

I downloaded the mod.
I got the mod running( up in the right hand corner).
When I start the game, No Mod?
This is my first time trying a Mod for Civ.

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Zen

That means the files aren't in the right place. The compressed folder that you download has to be uncompressed and placed in the C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods directory.

I suspect that you probably placed the folder in there still compressed?

That did it!
Played about 15 min and it seems great.

Thanks, Kael.

p.s. Gonna play more later "Family Time" for the Holidays.

Same problem!

Only in Clasical era, but Axemen still Rock in .7

I'm using the Arete civic, and it seems really good.
Do the other religions have very good civics as well?

Do the flavor civs still work for .7?

Any more design docs available?
Would there be improvements for each sphere?
Or type of sphere?

Also, are we gonna get to see volcanoes?

Call me a noob but how do you install this mod?

Do I just copy/paste the Asset folder and overwrite the existing one?

You have to extract it here:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods

It shouldn't overwrite anything.

Thanks, perhaps in 0.8 you could make it so it tells you the religion required for civics at the same place it tells you the tech required.

After I put it into the mod folder, I just play the game like normal and everything will be Fantasy based then?

I started a quick game but didnt notice any difference.

Since you said you were a noob :) this might be too much info, but better safe then sorry.

Go to Advanced, select the Fall from Heaven 070 mod. The game will prompt you to restart with the new mod. After this loads up you then select single player, custom game. There are no "fantasy" civs with Kael's mod, but Haarbal is currently making fantasy civs to be added later. You'll be playing with Victoria, Alexander, ect but with new units, techs, spells, improvements, ect.

Hope this helps. Have fun.
