[mod] Warlords: Total Realism 2.3a

I am playing a game on the perfectworld map script as the celts. I noticed that my fianna national unit starts with woodsman II, but not woodsman I. was that intended?

Yes. They get Woodsman II to get double moves in the forests. You can still buy them Woodsman I, if you feel like doing so.

Hello guys, and congrats for the great mod. There is only one problem with me.
After some turns (in fact, in the first game about 150, in the second 50, in the third about 90) it crashes. Even if i reload the game, when i pass the turn the game crashes again. I tried to load old saves, and it runs smootly. When i place for example two units to block a passage it crashes, or another example is when i colonize first a region that the AI would have colonized itself. I think it's something like an IA reaction issue that makes the game crash, but those are just suppositions.
Anyone knows something about this?

If you have a savegame with a reproducible crash (like, always a CTD at the end of the turn, or, even better, a CTD after a certain action by the player), by all means attach it and we'll have a look at it. Otherwise it is almost impossible to diagnose and fix.

I traded sugar away and my trading partner just made alcohol out of it. After that they can cancel the agreement and they still have the alcohol. My point is you need a supply to support the conversion imo. Same goes with all other conversion resources. No copper no bronze etc. I even get "bronze smith out of supply" when the copper resource is ok. Or it might have to do with certain units being built? i remember something like that resource dependent production.

I re-read my post since there wasnt a reaction on it. I wasnt trying to bash the mod just being constructive i hope  :goodjob:

hmm. found something else too.

I was building monuments in my cities for the +1 happy I get as a charismatic leader. When I started building city squares though I lost the monument and the +1 happy. It doesn't make sense; if the city square is an upgrade to the monument, why lose the +1 happy face?

The game has been a lot of fun so far and thanks for the latest update!

Thank you for pointing this out, this is definitely a bug, will be fixed.

How do i buy the upgrade and how much does it cost in gold.

They cost XP, obviously. The normal, experience-from-combat-earning way.

Will study. It might be a bug.

As Walter said, it's a (minor) bug. It will be updated soon.
Thx for this comment. :):goodjob:

Hi,

When I select any of the world maps provided with the mod to play a scenario playable nations are locked. Can anyone please explain to me how to unlock them? Or perhaps someone has an unlocked (random) map? Thanks.

Great mod, just a few small things,
like, why are they western swordmen in africa?
Now I know you made the Impi better, but theres just one thing, the impi needs iron... They don't use iron, but thats okay, just, that... there is no iron in africa!! At lease not in anywhere near south africa, so how are the zulus gonna get them? And theres also no horses... :(
But anyways, great job with the mod :D too bad my comps to slow to really play it :(

Western shortswordsman is a generic barbarian unit. It spawns in all the world, since we can't affect what barbarians spawn where.

Regarding iron - go get it as Zulus! By the time you have impis, you can steamroll half of Africa, and certainly reach northern iron deposits (there are a couple of sources of iron there). No civ can expect to be provided everything on a plate - where there was a historical lack of something, there'll be a historical lack thereof. For example, there are no horses in the New World.

As for the speed, I'd recommend playing smaller random maps (actually, most random maps will be smaller).

All random maps will allow you to choose leaders. People tend to forget that TR is NOT ONLY world map. Our mod is perfectly compatible with random maps.

They spawn when New world is discovered, right?

No, you have to GET them from the Old World somehow - either by trade or by conquest. They won't spawn by themselves. Old World has some excess horses with New World civs in mind, so even if no civ has been destroyed by the time one can traverse ocean, there will be extra horses to trade/capture. With current game mechanics, this is the closest we can get to depicting the situation realistically.

TR team

Not only does the game CTDs at times, but my pc also crashes along. The message is (translated from Portuguese): "Windows has been turned off to avoid damage to the system." What should I do?

Ummm... South Africa is not lacking iron ore, so one the world scale it may not look like it's got much Iron but it sure has enough to arm a few billion impi's. And FYI, South Africa, where you made the Zulus start, is the world's 8th largest producer of Iron. So, I would think it's got big iron mines.

To the TR team. :goodjob::king:

As your forum is back up and the TR website, a small suggestion. ;)

On the website - which lists the general changes to TR - why not give a link to the new version. Just a thought.

I have a Question I Currently own 4xraptors 74GB all in raid0 I am thinking of Buying 2x SUPER TALENT FTM20GK25H 2.5" 120GB SATA Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Retail $669.99+tax I am looking a grand total of $724.19 but i am buying 2 = $1448.38
If i buy them do you Civ fans think it will make my game faster???? I always play with 24 civs and huge maps so i slow down at the end of my games will buying these help me with a faster Civ4 TR mod?
I also have 8GB of DDR2 i am thinking of buying G.SKILL 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad Kit Desktop Memory - Retail $1144.99 +tax will this increase my Gaming CIV4 TR Speed?
well here goes my half of my monthly income but its all for a good cause civ4 TR!

Just a guess? The 2xSSDs will be the biggest boost to your speed, especially if you get ridda the raptors altogether. They might have some ridiculous RPM speed but a SSD is still faster and your system will always be as fast as the slowest part. Not sure if 16GB will speed your huge games up much, it probably will but then again it might also get fixed if/when Firaxis ever fixes the MAF (memory allocation fault) problem that plagues us 32-bit-OSers.

monarch diff, terra map, Turks.

warning for each tech that brings you in another era can be usefull to warn about the +1unhappy.

Benito Juarez Aztec showed some weird behaviour moving units to and away again against my cities while at war. He could have captured one city easy if he didnt move away so many times.

Fishing boats and barbarian galleys show only shadows while playing in Win xp, using vista however doesnt show this effect.

Every now and then the bronze smith has shortages same as with distilleries. Often i get "cant continue to build so and so unit" this also goes for units that dont need bronze.

As far as i know inquisitors were only a christian invention?

Ai vs Ai wars lasts for centuries, literally(shivaji Bhonsle vs Frederick). One civ is down to one city but still at war with a major civ.
I can offer gold to stop the war but never did just to see how long it would last. It isnt the only war in my game that last for centuries. The wars pretty much start when the religions are founded.

explorer is weak vs new world units. Barbarians have longbowmen brigands etc by the time i arrived.
I need fusiliers to do the job. The explorer wouldnt last very long since the barbarian hunt you down :) This makes the explorer useless.

Whats the point in building irregulars vs fusiliers. The last are cheaper and are stronger. Irregulars are drafted that is the only function for Irr. ingame? Since you can upgrade to Fusiliers at 0 cost. Seems a bit odd to first draft then upgrade.

At one time i got no cash from pillaging a barbarian mine.

Ai seems to ignore crowdedness(too many units in cities), dont know the behaviour in war time however.

Is there still tech transfer possible if you have no open borders with anybody?

I can confirm that coming back from an impossible position is quiet possible. I was last in line now i am first with 1/3 of gametime still to go. i didnt resort to war to get me there, only defensive, although i took some cities. Without tech transfer i would have been screwed, that and same religion buddies.
Founding a religion early is such a great boost. The holy wonders give lots of very usefull income and culture. They seem to have a much stronger effect in TR. money = research.

well here goes my half of my monthly income but its all for a good cause civ4 TR!

Half your monthly income is $2500 ? that's not too bad ;)

Here are some rules of thumb

RAM speed will not make a difference for PC speed, the amount of RAM might help if it keeps you from swapping stuff to the disk

Disk speed does not matter much either, it makes you load games and levels faster, but other than that it has no input on game speed (again, assuming you are not swapping to HD).

CPU speed and GPU speed are what matters for gameplay, for Civ I assume it will be mostly CPU as the graphics are not that advanced.

So, my expectation is the RAM won't make a difference (you already have 8 GB, that is more than enough), the SSD will help with loading speed, very little with actual game speed. So for the intended purpose they are grossly overpriced. Get a better CPU, chances are it costs half that and will result in a lot better speed increase (which is not to say it will be that great either, just more of an increase than the RAM or SSD would achieve).
