[Modmodmod] RFC:Europe Extra Civs

Does the merged civ get a merged provinces stability map? So what is solid for either is solid for the merged civ etc.

Idea for Florence

Florence
Leader Luca Grimaldi
Spawn Florence (Firenze) 854
UU water fortress (gun galley) giant galley with two tall towers at opposite ends (bonus vs ships, can carry 3 units (I couldn't find a unique land unit)

UB Commune (castle) +2 extra culture, +1 production

UP sortition governments (reduced stability penalty switching civics)

UHV own the most mercenaries by 1119?
Conquer or vassalize genoa
Own two company headquarters
Have 5,000 culture by 1218
Own only one city (Florence) until 1434 or 1328

Add a sheep bonus near Florence

isnt Florence land-locked?

Second post updated.

Not yet but it might happen. Currently most of the union civs actually have each other's areas as at least OK.

Thanks for the ideas, but if another civ is added to Italy it will be Milan/Lombardy (start in 568) as they were a military power for longer than Florence. Communes will probably have some representation as either UB or UP. Your proposed UP is actually the same as Prussia has now, you can try it out there if you like. What is the relevance of the added sheep? Was Florence famous for wool?

aren't Serbs first UHV a bit to random? ... stability feels like it can jump up and down semi-indepentent from player actions (aggressive missionary spam or mixed religion spread)

I've played Serbia twice and beaten it both times even while getting hit by the plague once so it's definitely possible even without luck. You have to cram cities into your Solid areas and nowhere else, spam stability buildings and orthodox faith points. Also I find that revolting to Manorialism+Militarism on the first turn easily pays for itself.

Edit: Or just get to ~10 stability and trigger a golden age I guess.

I've made a decision regarding future releases:
Alpha 4 will split Norse into Denmark and Norway, and have an earlier Swedish start.
After that it's Beta 1, with Bohemia and Lombardy, and a HRE system similar to the Apostolic Palace system in vanilla BtS. This is to compensate for the fact that Germany no longer can be said to represent the HRE as a whole.

The word "Beta" means that all essential features are complete, that is, I do not plan to put in any more civs after that. Sorry Florence/Knights of Malta/Norman Sicily/Ireland/Wallachia/Brittany/Monaco etc, there may be an expanded version some other day.

I did forget Florence was landlocked. But seeing Florence not being a Civ anytime soon. It doesn't matter yet
As for the sheep, there were two powerful wool guilds in Florence so it was just a thought.

Tried as the Serbs and it's tough because the Bulgarians are really strong and have a lot of units.

BTW, I noticed how the Bulgarians tend now to found knights corporations... I can't pinpoint if I saw it both in your modmod and in base RFCE so I was wondering if something you did may have strengthened Bulgaria.

I didn't strengthen Bulgaria directly but I did add Rum and increase the Mongol invasions of the middle east which makes Byzantium weaker, which Bulgaria can profit from. Perhaps they might need a slight toning down to compensate?

From what I've seen, though, Bulgaria only grows really strong when Byzantium collapses. And Byzantium generally only collapses that early if the Venetians or Genoans conquer Constantinople by crusade, which is also in base RFCE.

I have an error, when i select Arabia in the choose a civ list the game crashes, every time. all other civs are ok though, haven't tried playing a game yet (Want to play Arabia :P)

EDIT: Crashes for the Austrians too, may be a faulty download/unzip or something though as the background is different as usual.

EDIT2: Lol my bad installled it completely wrong :/

Most likely you just unzipped the .rar into the mod folder and started the mod. You have to download the base, RFC:E Beta 12, make a copy of it, rename it, and unzip the modmodmod into the renamed folder, overwriting files. See the first post.

Just won with Egypt, it was very easy, and the UP was very powerful. With Mamluks you can easily beat Kehsiks, and crusaders are no match either. Build La Mezquita then you can tech at 100%.

Perhaps the UP needs to be toned down a bit? At what year did you win, and how were you tech wise compared to the rest of Europe? Were the Ottomans any trouble at all?

Playing as the Serbians again, I noticed all my cities have 7 commerce on their tile, is it intended? I thought it was their UP but it doesn't seem so.

I won at 13xx, was tech leader, researched divine rights-chemistry, founded Hanseastic League, had Rum and Byz as vassal, and the Ottomans didn't trouble at all.
