Checked the video again, it seems that upgrade an Industry into a Corporation will also "use up" the Great Merchant, therefore lost their retirement ability.

On the one hand, it's a trade-off. On the other, it makes some of the GMs much more valuable.
That would be an interesting choice, but also possible that upgrading the industry also activates their ability.Checked the video again, it seems that upgrade an Industry into a Corporation will also "use up" the Great Merchant, therefore lost their retirement ability.
I hope already existing civs will gain some bonuses regarding this new game mode, like the Dutch for example, or Mali.
But with those, they mentioned that in the Update Videos. We didn't get any news here, so I assume they aren't.Agree wholeheartedly. Especially with Wilhelmina having arguably the weakest leader ability in the game. This would give her a deserved boost and it would be a wasted opportunity if they didn't do it.
We have precedence with Gilgamesh getting a special bonus from heroes and legends, plus Tamar with dramatic ages, so this just seems like a no-brainer to me.
Didn't they only reveal this in the livestream? But with those, they mentioned that in the Update Videos. We didn't get any news here, so I assume they aren't.
No, I'm pretty sure they revealed it in the update videos.Didn't they only reveal this in the livestream?
No, I'm pretty sure they revealed it in the update videos.
Edit: I checked, and only the September Pack video did they do so. Apologies for the mistake.
Some HD renders of a few Industry/Corporations......

I wonder if great admirals will play any role in this game mode. Seems plausible since as far as this game mode is concerned, seaports and stock exchanges appear to be interchangeable.
They specifically mentioned great merchants and the additional points you earn towards great merchants. But somehow I want great merchants to work on land-based luxuries and great admirals for sea-based.I wonder if great admirals will play any role in this game mode. Great Admirals are a mixed bag of military and economic bonuses so I can see it happening.
Don't we also just need stock market crashes as a new type of disaster?
Cause: Hyperinflation (when too much money is earned from luxuries, or something)
Effect: The particular luxuries are deactivated for a specific amount of time or actually cost money to maintain.
Another random thought on this Gamemode:
Unless you use Maui to create resources out of thin air, usually the different types of (land-based, that is) Luxuries are dependent on the Continent. 1 Continent will always spawn 4 types of Luxuries.
Which means, if you are playing a naval civ on a Terra map, you can grab and monopolize all the Luxuries in the New World, since nobody will compete you with the luxuries there.
Moreover, you can also try to play the Militarist Teddy, kick everyone else out of your home continent and grab all the luxuries.
Also the video was only five minutes long or whateverNo, I'm pretty sure they revealed it in the update videos.
