More Wonders

I believe he wants to make it specific to a religion because he intends to make one wonder for each religion. That would make each religion inherently different from each other, since each would have a semi-exclusive wonder.

PS: and by the way Pouakai, it's hard to track you down when you change your avatar every 2 months or so:crazyeye: What new wonder is that?

That makes more sense.
Yes, that new wonder does seem interesting.
"Crossroads of Africa and the Middle East"...

Also: Songkran?
That means Thailand? Or whole South and Southeast Asia?

Time to answer some messages...

Hmm...
I wouldn't want to make it exclusive to one religion.
Although I like the idea of a pure faith bonus.

That's the idea, although some of them (Namely Tengriism and a couple others) will be harder than others, ideas are welcome!

Only a day left to wait, but I'll give you a hint that it was built during the reign of Saladin in the land of the Mamluk

Aha, someone noticed! Me and sukritact discussed this a while ago, and I raised this point, but I can't remember the outcome, or even what wonders there will be!

Fantastic additions to wonders, though I have a question (for Pouakai or anyone who played several games with these mods):
How exactly do you play with all these new wonders? Do you enable 20+ of them? What happens with the game balance? How does the AI act? Does it try to spam with wonders?

I asked for suggestions for a balanced game as well.
Just don't turn them all on at once, try to balance out the areas where they shine, and these wonders add a whole new layer of depth to the game.
The AI doesn't build wonders any faster.

One Year!

One year ago today marks the release of the first ever of my mods - The Golden Pavilion. Since then, over 60 wonders have been released, the topic has recieved almost six hundred replies and has been viewed over 42 thousand times, with over 10,000 cumulative downloads on the ModBrowser alone. There have been five people to do art for the wonders, and I thank you all - Rhino Rhangler, Cyon, jpbar81, Sneaks, and of course sukritact, who has done most of the icons for the wonders. In celebration of reaching one year since the initial release, as well as my 3,000th post at CivFanatics, which this very post is, a new version of The Golden Pavilion has been released. This version features:

- A new icon, credit to sukritact
- Spanish language support, credit to elprofesor

The new version has been uploaded to CivFanatics, along with new images, which can be viewed on the front page of this topic, Here. Two additional wonders have also been released today in celebration, Cairo Citadel and Palm Jumeirah:

Cairo Citadel
Situated in South-Eastern Cairo, Egypt, the Cairo Citadel is a large fortification constructed by the Sultan Saladin in 1183 CE, in order to protect the cities of Cairo and Fustat from Crusaders. It took five years to construct, and when completed served as the seat of Egyptian government from Saladin's Ayyubid caliphate until the 19th century. Ingame, the Cairo Citadel provides +10% combat strength when fighting in Desert terrain and +15% when attacking a city. Engineering is required to build it. The Cairo Citadel can be downloaded either from the Ingame ModBrowser, or from the CivFanatics download Database, page Here

Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is an enormous artificial archipelago located of the Dubai coast. When seen from above, the main trunk and sixteen offshoots form the shape of a palm with a total area of over 25 square kilometres, equivelent of over 800 American Football fields. The construction over doubled Dubai's coastline when completed, and now serves as an iconic location for resorts and luxury hotels, as well as the Middle East's first Monorail. Ingame, Palm Jumeirah provides +15 :c5gold: Gold from every Atoll tile, and requires Globalization. Palm Jumeirah can be downloaded either from the Ingame ModBrowser or from the CivFanatics Download Database, page Here

Haji Ali Dargah

Haji Ali Dargah is a Mosque and Tomb built on an islet in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Mumbai, India. It is connected to the mainland via a narrow causeway, which floods in high tide. Despite this, an average of 80,000 people visit the Mosque every week, 40,000 each on Thursdays and Fridays. Ingame, Haji Ali Dargah provides +20% Gold from :c5trade: Trade Routes and +2 :c5gold: Gold from every sea tile. It becomes available with Navigation. Haji Ali Dargah can be downloaded either from the Ingame ModBrowser, or via the CivFanatics Download Database, page Here

:goodjob:

Excellent work, and 3,000 posts too. :woohoo:

I love the artwork for the citadel.
And palm jumeirah is actually an excellent choice for a modern wonder!

Thanks everyone! elprofesor, can you tell me whether the Spanish works on The Golden Pavilion?

Hummm, it doesn't seem to work from the mod browser, at least not directly (I've tried a couple of times, which took a while given I play on my laptop).

Are you supposed to do something to get it to display the text in Spanish, if the game itself is in Spanish? I'm sorry, but I'm completely illiterate in informatics, and what little I know about algorithmics doesn't help me very much here. I've tried erasing it and downloading again, but no luck.

Got to say great wonders and art, keep 'em coming!
To tie in with the Celts addition with Gods and Kings, how about the Newgrange megalithic Passage tomb, maybe a faith wonder?

Sounds good! I'm planning to update a few existing wonders to tie in with the new XP, although I have a sneaking suspicion that all will need to be updated as a result of the new tech tree, there may be new wonder costs.

Also guys, just a quick note that there won't be a new wonder this week, given the mid-week releases and schoolwork I have

A suggestion for a wonder as well:

How about Xanadu? Was the capital of Kublai Khan and the rest of the Khans untill the fall of the Khaganate. Supposedly it was home to the majority of the treasures pillaged across the globe that were brought back east.

Sadly can't give you much help with the art.

The actual Palace was destroyed a while ago just like the Porcelain Tower... but here is a Museum's rendering of an internal piece of Xanadu

Incredible work you're doing. Do you think if I try adding these in on a Mac they'll work? If not I guess I can just admire your work through the screenshots, but I'd love to have them in the game.
