Hi, I have successfull installed and updated the patches on my macbook Pro for CivIV Warlords, but I can not figure out how to move units without using the goto command. Also I can not zoom out. Are there special keyboard commands. The help says for me to use the numpad or mouse wheel. However, on my macbook pro there is no numpad nor a mousewheel. Help!

Hi, welcome :wavey:

There used to be a num pad built into the MBP keyboard. There were some small numbers shown on the right hand keys in the main cluster, and you needed to use a function key to switch it on. However, a quck Google indicates that this feature has been quietly dropped from recent MBPs. I don't have one, so I can't verify this.

The MBP's track pad allows two-finger scrolling, which should behave like a scroll wheel. Have a look at the trackpad preferences - I think there may even be a video in there showing you all the different multi-touch gestures that are supported.

Thanks. :goodjob: You gave me some clues and I have solved one of my problems. Two fingers together moved up and down on the MBP touchpad act as a mouse wheel. So, I can zoom in and out now. However, I have only partially solved the problem with moving units. I can find no way to simulate a numpad on the new MBP. I was able to change a setting in the game so that i can click and hold a unit for movement rather than just using the goto function.

I don't really remember how the OSX version of Civ4 worked with the keys on my MBP, I've used bootcamp and XP to run BTS the last couple of years. I know that in XP you can zoom in and out with the the up-down arrow keys if you hold the function key down. If you have it set up to right click with two fingers on the trackpad then you can select a unit, right click, and then the unit will go to where you right click. But since two fingers also zoom this makes this useless for me. I always play with a mouse, and right clicking to move works great.

You can also command-click, which is the same as right-clicking, to move your units. I got tired of doing this so I started using my logitech mouse with civ and it's great... I even mapped the spacebar to one of the side thumb buttons and now I can go to the next turn very easily. :D
