[MULT] Pitboss Worldbuilding Challenge

Oh, so you're playing Spain instead? Okay then.
I think I'm going to add something about online Rock-Paper-Scissors to my signature, actually...

edit: some changes in my schedule have increased my odds for being on game. so once a day i can just enter my move if i read it correctly? still unsure, but its a chance. i would love to play with heerlo.

How com you want to play with me?

Well I'll probably have a timer for 48 hours (just in case someone can't get a turn in one day), but everyone should try to get in a turn (and then write the history, development of culture, etc.) every day. This process should take a half-hour at most, possibly including the time interacting with neighboring civs (there should definitely be some nice cultural diffusion going on). So if you want to join, be prepared to take around a half-hour each day to play with us. And be sure to worldbuild real nice-like.

So, are we putting this story on the site yet, or just writing it down on somewhere first?

Heerlo stole Indonesia from me.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a misunderstanding there. It was just an insider joke with cpm. :D Btw, you can still use DLC if you really want to.

Oh, I mean, we can place it on the sight I guess, but I personally like to leave it on Google Docs as I write it down privately and then perhaps share sections of it to others, and the rest of the forum. I feel like sneak attacks would totally loose their sparks if nations read the secret diaries of the other nations. Neighbors can selectively share information between themselves, but some of us might come along and force certain events on players (secrets escape the capital, any nation with an embassy in that capital now learns the positions of some of said nation's spies, etc.)
Perhaps at the end of each era we could share our favorites, or certain parts of histories.

Indonesia is BNW, so there should be no need to use DLC.
I just played three 30-turn starting positions of Spain, to see how it would turn out. The first time I discovered a wonder by turn 10. Second time I was trapped in a jungle.
Third time I discovered Sinai above me, nearing Indonesia, and Kilimanjaro inside Zurich's borders on a volcanic island chain. I say it's good luck. I'm going to be playing as Spain then, I guess.

Heerlo, please select a number one through eight.

Okay.

Okay, we'll be playing KrakFix7, a PerfectWorld3 map with amazing naval possibilities. It also includes scattered deserts, easily defendable mountain-positions, and a smidgen of uranium.
If anyone wants to play as Indonesia, they should know that continents are pretty weird in PerfectWorld3. Stuff like this happens.

NOTE: The first image is not our map. It's KrakFix1. I just wanted to show you how the continents work.

Anyway, here's a sneak peak:

I think I'm going to add something about online Rock-Paper-Scissors to my signature, actually...

But rock-paper-scissors didn't actually work.... An alternative would be to find a third party to flip a coin for you, and agree who gets to call the toss.

Oh my god...I CANNOT stop laughing at the Rock Paper Scissors attempt :D good lord...

I was going to suggest that we each publish the histories of our respective nations in individual threads and link to them in the OP of this one. This thread (or a social group) would then become the more out-of-character one, where we exchange any history we want to that we didn't publish in the other threads. We could still keep the majority of what happened to ourselves of course, but this way our individual stories might become easier to follow and read. The end result would be our stories would end up being more like your "Bodian Republic" one.

How com you want to play with me?

Probably because of your fame from "Into The Future".

There should be a 'jazz hands' emoticon for stuff like this.

Nation threads would be cool. My issue would be that it's harder to edit and comment on. I'll probably do both, though. We could post playlists of songs that align/match the history, have QAs, post screenshots and myths. This thread will die out once we get twelve people in game. I'll set up a subforum by that point with a main sector for e'rybody.
Now we just need more people.
@Heerlo, 42, Dev: Decided on a civ yet?
@Everybody not signed up: Wanna sign up?

I liked it,
And who are you?
Wanna join us?

I don't think I can commit to a long-term project like this. But if you post the progress as it goes, I'll read along. And maybe post some side comments.

That was pretty funny.

Well, however famous Into The Future may have been, I'm really not that great of player. Btw, I like your idea of individual threads.

@Heerlo, 42, Dev: Decided on a civ yet?

Not quite. I'll probably go over civs tonight and decide.

If you change your mind, I'd be glad to have you. I know how good of writer you are. ;)

Good writer? Sweet, you should join us. Or, if you want, we can set you up with a small empire (Venice?) and then have you purposely die when you want. It would be like Valyeria/Fall or Rome kinda stuff.

@Heerlo: You said you're not a good player, but how is CPM? I feel like he's going to dominate and I'm getting scared...

I'm not that good; on single-player I play Emperor. Also, I'm extremely peaceful, and will probably prefer to sell you luxuries instead of attacking you.

Oh, you're not that good, but you play on Emperor? I'm not that good, and I play mostly on Prince or Warlord!

But I'm also extremely peaceful, like you, but may occasionally go to war for causes I consider good.

Btw, I think I've decided on Persia as my civ, that is, unless someone else wants them.

Considering that the primary object of this game is to produce a detailed world history, I'd say it doesn't matter much who's good at Civilization. Winning isn't the goal here (At least, it won't be for me. I'm going to work on making it a fun story, regardless of whether that benefits me in-game). I usually play Prince, but I go for Culture or Diplomacy and unless I'm the Huns I'm usually last place in "People with the Pointiest Sticks."

Good good good.
The issue is resources now guys. I tested the map to see if any civs spawned in random islands they couldn't escape. I also spawned six Arabias to test the Arab-limit (this sounds racist, did not mean it). Some Arabian cities spawned in forests next to deserts, and the city-states took the mountainous islands like I wanted. So far so good. But remember when I said "smidgen" of uranium? Well, I meant smidgen of everything. I think. I'm not that good at telling when enough is enough, so here's a screenshot of a small portion of the world:
iV6PFyL.jpg

It doesn't seem like there's that much luxes. I can't randomize the resources now (idiot SDK makes it only spawn bonus resources), but I can simply create a new map (I like this one though, there's a brilliant straight and sea and sheep islands and jungle snakes).
So, is this normal? Is this supposed to happen? Would you guys be okay with this amount of resources? Should I sample some others?
