Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Also, to my lovely neighbors, this is my first ever IOT, and I'm jumping in feet first. Do you REALLY want me as an ally? :p

I suppose it should also be mentioned how odd it is that no one declared war on Oz when they attacked the Formatics... but suddenly everyone wants a piece of the USSR... :mischief:

Oz aren't cannibals, and did not threaten genocide against the formatics if they start to lose the war. That's why.

Probably more than you'd want Anatolia, at least your country is in it for the long run.

And it seems simple enough to get into at the beginning: Either pump up your industry to get a large army later or pump up your army and take over a country with high industry while they can't defend themselves.

Of course with the new rules Industry has become so important that you cannot ignore it as it controls how high many of your other techs can go.

I'm here, waving my hands fervently in the air saying the same thing. The stupidity of GCI-MA alliance is making my brain melt. *points at both Chinas, and Australia, and Crusaders, and Voodoo pizzaman (lol)*

If somehow you oust me out of Partitionia and manage to crush my country, I'll be in hell laughing as you are so far behind, others will just take you over easily.

Honest question: Why are people defending a certain someone who nuked half the world into oblivion last game?
Hmm?

1.) That's metagaming.
2.) IC: That was was five centuries ago.

The USSR

--For your eyes only, Premier Stalin--

*Sigh*. Let me guess, another list of complaints against the USSR. Who could they be from, he thought.

He thought wrong.

Field Report:

Casualty Report:

>4.428 million Partitionanians taken
>400,000 killed
>Minimum Military Casualties

Special Report:

>Hundreds of Partitionian Scientists captured. The world's top Nuclear Scientists were captured, as were the secrets to make the ultimate weapon.

Upon reading this, Stalin let out a gleeful gasp and dropped the paper. He let out a grumble as he collected the handful of scattered papers on the floor.

He picked them up and began reading once more:

>Nuclear technologies acquired. We now have tier one nuclear missiles.

Soon coffee that the Premier was sipping was spewed across the room. He could not contain his joy. "Adviser of War, GET IN HERE NOW!"

A short, thin man with glasses and a stack of documents ran into the room.

"y..y.y...yes sir?

Poor kid was about to piss himself, Stalin thought. "Order 10 of these weapons to be constructed, immediately.

"B..b..but... sir.. they are v..v.v...very expensive..

I'll simply raise taxes! Now go do it before you soil yourself. Go go go!

With that, the little man ran out of the Kremlin and hopped in a car. Soon Soviet factories would begin churning out these new weapons, code-named "SUKA-32".

The Premier went over to his bookshelf, and slowly ran his fingers across the hundreds of semi-charred books. "I can't believe the Kremlin survived the previous Holocaust somewhat intact. So much good history would have been lost!"

He found what he was looking for, and he pulled it out. "Тхе Фирст Руссо-Полиш Вар"

After a few minutes of reading, he let out an enormous laugh.

"Sir, what is wrong, I heard much noise! Are you alright?" A small group of bodyguards ran in.

'Ol Joe managed to control his laughter. "I'm... *huff*.. f... *hardy har har*.. fine.

He wiped the sweat from his brow, and sat back down.

"History has a funny way of repeating itself, don't you think?"

His bodyguards, possessing a collective IQ of about 94, silently nodded their heads.

"East Russia. What a fine place. A place where you can worship our Great Leader Stalin in peace. This is our place. Our home. No one can take it. We will beat back the infidels that are in Western Russia. This is the Eastern Russian Army Corps."
-Front page of the ERAP training manual.

The USSR fell in real life due to internal mechanisms. There was loads of internal reform, outside pressure had little to do with it.

Anyways we shall see:)

The current Pope of East Russia had this to say about the ongoings in Western Russia

"Our fellow brothers and sisters in Stalin are being attacked. While we can not do anything as being involved with the war, we will offer the USSR a defensive pact (for future wars) and a trade pact for our fellow children of Marx.

Patchy has a point!

Wait. Caribbean and Union of China declared war too? Dang!

Partitionania hereby denies all claims the researchers and research of the Three Day Project was captured in the first push into Partitionania.

How do you deny PF getting nukes? And I was right! They were being nice to you to avoid the nukes!

It's called lying and propaganda. Very common tactic in war.

I dont recall the Caribbean DOW'ing, but the Empire of China did.

Also, your researchers would seem to disagree with you. At least my nukes agree. *glances at supply line*

Tani made a mix up this time :p.

The Kingdom of Jerusalem has a few announcements, to a rather broad crowd.

Firstly, to the leaders of MA and GCI:
The Kingdom is hereby leaving the MA. We will not comment on why this is so, just making it heard that it is. Conversely, we ask the GCI leadership if they would find it suitable to have the Crusaders as members and allies.

Secondly, to the Turks:
A newly-formed nation believes it can threaten Jerusalem. We will not have it. We would have given your nation a chance at neutrality in the eyes of Jerusalem, but arrogant demands far out of reach for such a young nation certainly won't be listened to. We hereby cut diplomatic ties with the Turks until further notice. This includes an embargo.

Thirdly, to the World:
The nation of Jerusalem is at the forefront of Engineering and Robotics technologies and will be putting these technologies to use in more fields than simply industry as we have been for the past years. While we will not disclose which areas are going to be given attention, and we cannot allow our most precious technologies to be observed, we are announcing a Grand Tour of Technology in the capital of Jerusalem itself. All nations (Except the Turks) are invited to observe some of Jerusalem's greatest achievements, including the first ever Vernulus.

That is all for now.

Technological advancements in the Army

The Imperial Katterland Army has technologically advanced in leaps and bounds over the last year, with the replacement of outdated armour and weaponry with the latest in modern technology. The Minister for War credited the new advances as being instrumental in the reconquest of Oz and the retention of conquered lands from the rebels, while denying all claims that technological obsolescence was behind the debacle of the first campaign.

Regardless Emperor Katterh himself has noted that technological developments continue apace, and that he expects his four year plan of industrial and technological development to be successful beyond expectations, even with the situation in Europe potentially eliminating certain trading partners.

Katterland remains Neutral

The wise Emperor Katter has publically announced today that Katterland intends to follow the path of peace and neutrality in light of the conflict in Europe. Speaking to the media Katter exclaimed "Katterland is a peaceful nation, and in the interests of peace it has no intention of involving itself in foreign conflicts".

Political analysts have associated this policy with Katter's support for philantrophy and charity. Which reflects the deepseated religious basis of the nation in the One True Faith, and in the conservative values of our glorious Emperor. Noting this eccentric Industry Minister Bjelke-Peterson noted "Those foreigners think charity is liberal, LIBERAL, hah, just goes to show the arrogance of the interventionists trying to associate anything praiseworthy with their own degenerate, self-interested and hypocritical views. Thanks be to God that the world is starting to see their hypocrisy"

Emperor Katter has yet to comment on Katterlands possible position in regards to its ally Londons proposal on Russia in the UN, which although going against the nations longstanding anti-interventionist positions is perhaps justifiable, according to government officials, due to the targets unrestrained belligerence and threats towards innocent populations.

Rebellion in Victoria

A republican faction has gained control of the province of Melbourne and the island of Tasmania in the Kingdom of Victoria, causing much distress to the local government of the autonomous Kingdom. Katter in his role as hegemon of Australia has offered to arbitrate the dispute in order to ensure that the continent can transition peacefully into a period of new prosperity, to be heralded by the four year plan.

Analysts have praised this move as emblematic of Katters approach to foreign relations, with the idea of consensus and dialogue between all parties being central to Katterlands diplomacy in opposition to the crass imperialism evident in interventionist ideology.

An Industrial Dawn

Minister for Industry, Joh Bjelke-Petersen has decreed that as part of the four year plan, a major initiative to industrialise the provinces neglected during the occupation of those lands by Oz, in Katterlands traditional eastern territories is to be begun this year. Through this initiative the government hopes to show the benevolence of the gracious Emperor Katter, and re-incorporate those katterlanders formerly under the Ozian entity into the economic and political life of Katterland.

The government has also noted that these territories will not be the only beneficiaries of industrial development, the western region will also recieve funding for industrialisation in order to provide new opportunities to its growing population, and kickstart the economic rennaisance of the continent under the rule of Emperor Katter.

End of Oz war in Sight

Emperor Katter today has announced the he would be willing, if Oz was so inclined, to negotiate their surrender. In his own words "They are beaten, so totally beat down that it would be a cause of suffering for their remaining people for them to continue to fight, if they are willing I would agree to a peaceful surrender and ensure reasonable terms for their incorporation into Katterland"

No word has yet come from the Oz Junta on the matter, commentary is expected within a few days once the Junta warlords can find a common position.

Beijing University serves up propaganda double-bill
By Edmund Nedellier

The way my colleagues played up two fairly recent documentaries by Beijing University, one could easily have been tricked into thinking Professor Linhuan Sin had discovered the Platonic form of Chinese history, and we would all do best to pack up and go home. I was repeatedly told these were films I absolutely had to see. Naturally, I was skeptical, and as Chinese studies are not my area of expertise, I was somewhat puzzled by their insistence on the matter. Eventually, I broke down and obtained copies of the two films, King George the Great and The Great Chinese War.

Within the first second of the first film, I realized why my colleagues had been so incessant: I was the victim of a practical joke.

Alarm bells should have started ringing when I first obtained the films. I discovered copies were being distributed for free out of the Empire of China's embassies worldwide. The staff informed me I would be treated to "a rich and educational experience" that would "correct the many misconceptions" about Chinese history. It was a hard sell, but I wasn't in the mood to tell them off.

Given all the hype, I was expecting something above-average at best, mediocre at worst. What I got was utter schlock.

The first film, King George the Great, is a five-minute montage of the infamous dictator George I. Contrary to the credits, Professor Sin does not narrate: the entire film consists of stock images overlaid with the barest descriptive text that reads like a five-year-old's primer on history. It barely qualifies as a biography: most of the film's forgettable span is spent on the wars of the period, rather than George himself.

The Great Chinese War is better only because it is shorter, and features a background soundtrack. It is otherwise identical to the utter waste of time that is King George, presenting the barest of facts without even an attempt to place its subject matter into a broader context.

I cannot begin to describe how bad these films are. I wouldn't have written a review at all, but I feel it is my civic duty to warn the reader away from this trash. The films look like they were cobbled together by a bored intern with video editing software, not the result of professorial research; if this is the standard of Chinese Imperial academia, I can only weep for the country.

Worse than the zero-budget production value is the gross distortions both films make to the historical record. Anyone with a basic understanding of Chinese history will notice the glaring omission of any mention of the Scarlet Lancers; in fact, the 2166-2173 interregnum is completely ignored. King George suggests the imperial legacy continued uninterrupted for a millennium, when that chapter ended with Otto I's arrest in 2179. China's atomic bombings of its neighbours are glanced over, and state policies of cultural genocide remain unaddressed.

These aren't so much films as propaganda adverts. The fact they were released as the Empire began resurrecting the so-called "Xiang Dynasty" is beyond coincidence. I probably got them free because the state knows no-one will pay for them. Academically, they are worthless: they provide no new information and confound the existing facts. Any self-respecting historian will be insulted by such carelessly and unabashedly revisionist interpretations.

So rarely have I found "non-fiction" publications in any medium that inflict such utter disservice to history. For those who wish to truly learn about China in the latter 22nd Century, I can state with all honesty that anything, anything, is better than these films.
