Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Venezuela:

The Kane that has been spoken of in the previous posts is false. I am the one true Kane, see. Kane XIII, to be precise.

Of course, I am not an immortal, nor have any of my suspiciously-similar looking forefathers. We have very dominant genes, you see.

Belarus:

You're not fooling anyone. So, how's the Liquid Tiberium Bomb coming?

Venezuela:

Shut up pony. Go do... pony things while the adults work. Take your magic friendship elsewhere.

Belarus:

Hey, just because I can control the UN with a flick of my hoof... And I prefer to be called a stallion, thank you very much. It is more befitting of my masculinity.

Venezuela:

Masculinity?! You're RAINBOW colored.

Belarus:

Better than your cliche "Oh I'm red and black I'm so evil" get up.

Venezuela:

...Touché.

I thought Venezuela was a parody of mech until he actually agreed with me.

Hahhaha, *high fives AA*

Finally, someone who follows after my heart. I would help you kick 'em while they're down buuuuut I'm sorta busy ^_^

I appear to NOT be the only one who starts an "unprovoked war."

Let's see if they get as much aid as silly 'ol Partitionania.

Make war not love.

Totally appropriate for my impending victory.

The USSR bestows the following medal to the Sultunate:

>Order of the Red Star<

Spoiler :

The Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defence of the Soviet Union in both war and peace.

==Battle of the Baltic!==

2 American fleets
4 Hungarian fleets
2 Roman fleets

Rome has used the bulk of its and Byzantium's navy to invade Spain, but it still has some forces to muster.

The Anatolians have sent a fleet of 3 ships to protect the Russian coast. Battlarity ensues!

The Anatolians win and sink 2 enemy ships, while losing 2 of their own. The Soviet Union's coastline remains clear. 1 Hungarian and 1 American ship were lost.

==Russo-Polish War==

28 Russian divisions roll in to seize the Baltic provinces.

Poland has 8 divisions, supported by 2 divisions and 1 air wing from Airstrip One, along with 2 divisions and 1 air wing from Germany.

7-2.

All defenders are slaughtered. 1 Soviet army killed. Soviet troops advance on the capital. 21 partial recruits stand ready to defend their homeland from the Red Menace.

17-10

13 Partitionanian divisions perish, as does 1 Soviet. 1 Partitionanian air armada is shot out of the sky. The capital holds out.

3.069 million Partitionanians are seized, and due to displacements and deaths, 307,000 are lost. The USSR gains 5 Industry points.

4 Hungarian air wings perform an air strike on Russian territories. Not a single bomb hits its target, though 1 Hungarian airmada is shot down by defensive MiGs.

Yeah but the difference is you invaded over an ancient war, I invaded because I know what happens when a country gets rich and has a whole lot of allies.

What was the last one? World War 29?

Said allies are going to shred your navy like it's made of papier mache. :p

It really would have been a better idea to invade with some allies of your own... especially since Kinich has Philanthropy's power, which will keep his clients loyal to him until he falls -really- far.

But hey! Maybe the USSR can help you when it's done absorbing Partitionania.

...if that ever happens. It's gonna take a lot of blood and treasure to crush Partitionania entirely. :S

Random musings! I'll get to black ops in a bit. :p

I'm kind of hoping someone will chip in after I repeatedly tell everyone that the 501st is the greatest threat to world stability.

On that note, why the crap is no one but christos actually talking to be about stuff? It's almost like they're looking at my track record for my morality in your games (which, to be honest, is actually leaning towards benevolent) instead of taking my actions at their face value. You know, metagaming.

ooc: Presumably because people are still considering their options.

ooc: Presumably because people are still considering their options.
This, and most of my energies (and sanity) are being placed in more productive areas.

Not to mention now having to get over two supprise attacks occurring within two turns.

ooc: ergo people are asking the questions "how can this situation benefit me?", "How much would it cost me should I get involved?" and "What are the risks should things go bad?".

although just on the two surprise attacks per turn, I think you mean one surprise attack. Russia was exhibiting all the signs that he was going to attack Partitionania before he actually did it.

---

EDIT: Oh and perhaps a fourth question "Who will offer more for me to side with them" presuming we have opportunists in our midst.

When in doubt, keep a few professional regiments in your capital and a large air armada to assist them in battle. 100 gold seems like a large investment, but that's +10% in your favor for as long as they exist.

Of course, to prevent total roflstomping, your half-trained regiments will protect your capital to avoid that nasty capital flipping. Professional forces are always better than rookies though!

At the accusations of metagaming..

I was accused of the same thing by certain unnamed individuals...
Thing is, regardless of how we play, some players will just point fingers and call us out on playing the game wrong. There is no right way to play - have fun, and destroy others if it's fun.

I attempted a similar thing in GaP: 2. I attempted to overthrow the status quo and depose jehoshua, (and I got quite far I must say). I didn't have any support because everyone called me a "monster", said I wasn't playing fairly, etc etc.

ooc: I invaded Partitionania with similar reasoning. They nuked half the map in MP1, and were obviously following a similar suit this game.

Threats must be eliminated, for the good of the world.

Plus they spied on me and all that good stuff.

Is this game's tone sufficiently serious for metagaming to be a major issue?
The Multipolarity series has erred on the sillier side (501st Legion, Republic of Coruscant, Awesome McCoolname) and when running/playing TT games metagaming (taken in this context to mean OOC knowledge of the game world that wouldn't be known IC) is generally viewed as more of an offense in games played straight than in the wackier, munchkinned up games.
Now, given that IOT doesn't tend to have a delineation of OOC and IC knowledge, metagaming really comes down to knowing a players actions in previous games and their personality. If you're next to a regular aggressor can you really be blamed for building up a force to defend against him or preparing a pre-emptive strike?
I think realistically metagaming in this environment is unavoidable as only a few people make the effort to mix up their playstyle, the majority tend to play in ways they enjoy or are successful at game after game, just like the majority play the same country (or selection thereof) game after game.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to claim metagming is desirable, just that anyone who fails to consider their warmongering neighbours playstyle is going to get roflstomped like they were between Monty, Alex and Oda/Monty and Shaka (delete as appropriate for preferred game) and decided they didn't need an army and for that reason it can't be avoided.

As I said before (but in other words), imperialism is legal and it's the key on winning these IOT's.

I have a few examples where I can point to otherwise but the superpower pacifist guy still had a really big army.
