Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Considering sneak attacks in real life would take months to plan... :p

Not to mention even then, they're damn near impossible without military mobilization. Something very easy to see.

I dunno about adding mobilisation levels. For simplicity, I'm inclined to have a black op mission that can sabotage the enemy's radar. I can just add the feature of sneak attacks onto an existing mechanic rather than adding yet another.

Stock market will definitely be reformed; fewer corporations and they'll just be a means of profit. National powers will probably have to return for simplicity.

Steal technology will probably be reformed, yes.

Just some stray thoughts.

Naw no point in a die roll, 2-3 days in advance. I usually send invasion orders like 5 minutes before lock.

BECAUSE THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. YOU GET A GOLD STAR FOR NOT COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT. AT ALL.

We need quicker WMDs. Nobody was even close to t2 anything, and only 1 person got t1 bio (no t1 chem, though I was sorta close).

Lower it to 500 max tech for WMD.. or even less. :P

and then he misses the point. :p

I might axe WMD altogether. That or force-limit their use.

MAD must be observed.

Tani. You.. wouldn't dare?

Taking away WMD from the USSR is like taking away Christmas presents from little children.

You monster!

Ignorance breeds an ill-founded sense of entitlement it seems tani :p

As the one who is personifying a GLaDOS ripoff, "You monster!" is my line. :p

Really nothing's solid, but I am definitely creating more standardised rules.

Also, another feeler: Expansion or no? We could start with the usual post-cataclysmic world, or start in the beginning throes of a cold war, with the bulk of territory already settled.

Careful what you say jehoshua. If you keep up this unsavory behavior.. well.. I could always use some WMD test targets ;)

Also, post-cataclysmic. I find it much more fun to claim territories and form your nation from the ashes.

If it's cold war, some nations will naturally have a better start (USSR/Germany always get OP starts in this sort of deal), while smaller nations (Hi Denmark!) are left out in the cold.

Define standardized rules? :)

When IOT was in it's early stage, there were no WMDs! :p

The sword cuts both ways PF, I'd be careful who you threaten lest mutually assured destruction, or just your destruction knocks on your door :P

I need not remind you that Katterland, despite having every opportunity to surpass me early on, ended up sending King Katter himself to grovel at the Premiers feet.

His tears were used to make a nice cochroach-vodka mixed drink. The taste of victory.

Delicious. :king:

It gets even more ironic when you consider that Thorvald, the very person who laments the current state of IOT, was the one who introduced WMD. :p

Technically, he reintroduced them. They were introduced really early in the piece, but then were removed because they were just chaotic.

I think there are a couple of problems with TUG rules regarding sneak attacks.
1. The global attack range means you can't anticipate if a neighbour is going to attack when they sidle up to your border and drop all their income on military.
2. Conditional orders render the whole "Disable early warning system" mission moot anyway.
Spoiler Example :
Spend X on Z
Spend Y on W
If my EWS goes down ignore the above and drop everything on fifty bazillion armies.

Point 1 does mean sneak attacks can be potent if they work, yes. Fortunately keeping spies at home greatly reduces the risk of any takedown.

As for Point 2... I don't know if I'd approve of being able to change spending in the wake of an attack. Orders, definitely, but spending I'm not sure.

Keeping a fair penny in the military is always a good idea, really. Especially since the economy here is nearly CnC-esque: almost all of the spending options are military.

Well, that's for TUG, anyway.

Things will probably be different for MP3. I'll think of ideas.

A minor intermediary does not a Katter make ;), and I was merely attempting to get you to withdraw your support for Victoria so I could end that thorn in Katters side and was willing to make temporary sacrifices to further the great plan. Twas a temporary aberration to advance my interests. Your insolence during and after that discussion sealed your inevitably destruction however, since whatever happened I would take action accordingly to bring due satisfaction in response to your general personality dysfunction.

Although unfortunately tani cut short our MPII sojourn so that never came to pass.
