A GM can never misuse his powers because he makes the rules.

I approve of this post. :thumbsup:

I trust Thorvald not to abuse his position, but I agree that it is safer, for our peace of mind if nothing else, if he doesn't work with the NPCs close to his in-game nation.

Christos, did you see that one time I won that naval battle?

Neither did I. I've lost naval battles with odds so much in my favor I planned ahead pretty far after my would-be victory there. It's a freaking IOT meme for God's sake. Bad rolls happen. Now please quit your whining. If Tani notices an abuse in NPCs, he'll stop it and then do it himself and that'll be the end of that.

Christos, did you see that one time I won that naval battle?

Tyo's admirals can make other admirals act terribly. Such as the three way 4v4v1 battle between someone, Tyo, and Nuke in SonRISK II.

Nuke won....and had only 1 (or some extremely low number compared to the other two).

You must've angered a powerful sea captain in a past life. I suggest you avoid cruises and boating.

Tani - just make a ruling and move on. If a player doesn't like that ruling they don't have to play. Run the game how you want it.

A dash of nationalism in the Socialist Utopia of Angola

Recently, the Angolan Glorious Leader, Agathe Adler, has recently released the Angolan First Plan, entailing several points -

1. All banks are to be nationalized, with all savings exceeding 5,000 Angola Marks liquidated and put into the federal treasury.

2. All private enterprises with a net worth of 15,000 marks or more are to be nationalized and voluntarily surrender all equipment, employees, and management staff to the government.

3. Tax rates on foreign residents within Angola are to be increased by 20%, and they are to wear tags on them at all times labelling them as non-Angolans.

4. All unemployed Angolan men (16-60) are to report to Army & Navy recruitment centers. Foreign residents, children (8-15) are to report to the closest Office of Unemployment to receive a housing voucher, transportation, and a job in an industry somewhere in the nation.
Grown women (18-50) can voluntarily enlist in the Medical Corps or apply for a job at their closest Office of Textiles and Clothing Distribution for a job. If neither appeal to them, then their official duty is as breeding equipment.

5. Foreign residents that refuse to report to an Office of Unemployment and receive a job and refuse to pay extra taxes and view native & naturalized Angolans as their superiors will be shipped to labour camps around the country to build rail lines and factories.

6. Any native or naturalized Angolan who volunteers to labour on hazardous rail work or factory construction will receive generous hazard pay & their family will be subsidized in the event of the untimely demise of the worker. This is not stretched to foreign residents and other non-Angolans.

The ruling is simple:

I will fully administer NPCs in and around the Chinese area. The rest Thorvald has free reign over until they are cliented. :)

Somalian citizen Dr. Ron Paul was interviewed shortly after the new changes in Angolan market. The interviewers' name has been recorded as "Ghost."

Ghost: Good morning Somalia, the only country in the world where you have true freedom, and do not have to worry about a government stealing from, I mean, taxing, you. Today on the Writer16 show I would like to introduce you to Dr. Ron Paul.

Ron Paul: Good morning Somalia. Apparently I'm over a thousand years old now, but its so good to finally be able to live in a free country. A country with like-minded people who have the same goals that I have, the establishment of a free-market economy, free-trade, non-interventionism, and libertarianism.

Ghost: Good morning Dr. Paul, its been far too long since we've had you to speak to us. So, I wanted to ask about this new Angola situation. What's your perception of this whole Angolan situation.

Ron Paul: Well, obviously Angola is a system built on the Marxist model that President Obama... wait, he isn't around anymore, is he?

Ghost: No, no he's not.

Ron Paul: Eh, forget I said that, it doesn't matter to you anymore than a political point on the Crusades would have mattered to me. Anyway, this whole Angolan situation is fully based on Marxist ideals of "From each according to his ability," but there's something much worse about it as well. It is also exceedingly nationalistic, fascistic.

Ghost: So you are condemning it?

Ron Paul: Of course. I encourage all Somalian citizens to stay out of Angola. Your tribe cannot protect you outside of Somalia, and Angola does not have protections for foreigners. And this business about women being "Breeders", I mean, no wonder they have been attacking the pro-life movement for all these years. I'm pro-life, and I don't believe in that.

Ghost: Yeah, I hear you, this is clearly not a very good thing at all.

Ron Paul: I mean, in Somalia, if you come here, with our permission, we protect you. The United States sometimes deported illegals, but if you came with our permission, we protected you. Now in Angola, foreigners are stuck there and they don't have protection. They are outlaws in their own country. That's just wrong.

Ghost: Thank you. So, what do you plan to do with your new role in the 31st century?

Ron Paul: Well, I'm the executive speaker of Somalia now, as elected by the tribes. I intend to infom people about Somalia and how we don't have a big, bloated government that steals your money and yet we do just fine. I am going to educate people in hopes that they will vote in their own countries to reduce the role of government.

Ghost: Are you an anarchist now, Dr. Paul?

Ron Paul: No. Not in the same sense that some people are, anyway. I'm fine with a voluntary state. The problem is when the state starts to steal from some to give to others, or goes on an imperialist crusade. That's the problem. We need to stick to ourselves and let other countries do the same. And protect the free market. The free market can protect the poor in your country. Its only with upward redistribution that you have a problem.

Ghost: Well, Dr. Paul it was nice to have you. You are watching the Writer16 show giving you fair and balanced coverage from the station the Somalian market has chosen. We will no doubt have Dr. Ron Paul on again, but for now, farewell and enjoy your lives.

Ghostwriter, please raise your tax rate. 0% will not be able to support an army large enough to protect you, and the massive amounts of industry the brain drain will net you from a 0% tax rate will be too tempting a target for almost everyone, I'm sure.

Why should we bother justifying ourselves to a race as inferior to ours?

A Description of Angolan Military Structure
by Adolf Merkel

The Angolan military, as befit of a nation of our stature and strength, has one of the most powerful militaries in the world; how can it do so, with the limited resources of the lands currently under Angolan jurisdiction?
Structure! Organization! And brutal efficiency!
The Angolan Army is based off of the number ten; an individual fire team (composed of 10 soldiers) is called a Zehn. From there, we go to 50 men; a Unit. Then to 100, a company, 500, a battalion, 1000, a regiment, and 10,000 a division. The Angolan Army also maintains its fighting capability through the recruitment of obedient, smart, and, most of all, well trained officers - a 1:5 ratio of officers:soldiers is constantly maintained in all units.
List of Angolan Army Units;
100,000 - Army
10,000 - Division
1,000 - Regiment
500 - Battalion
100 - Company
50 - Unit
10 - Fire Team

Angolan Army Officer Ranks;
Commander in Chief - the Glorious Leader Herself, Agathe Adler
Field Marshal - The Commander in Chief's main advisors and the leaders of Armies
Colonel - Leader of a division
Captain - Leader of a regiment
1st Lieutenant - Leader of a Battalion
2nd Lieutenant - Leader of a Company
Senior Sergeant - Leader of a Unit
Sergeant/Corporal - Leader of a Fire Team

All officers can appeal to the next-highest authority above their commander to rescind unwise orders assigned by other officers.

From here, the entire Angolan Military is subdivided into several categories, namely;
The Angolan Army - Self-explanatory. Does most of the groundwork & the backbone of the military. Commands & supplies the Army Special Forces.
Army Special Forces - Extremely well-trained and well equipped ground troops that are normally deployed behind enemy lines to target officers and supplies.
The Angolan Navy - The second largest branch, it mostly handles naval affairs and supplies & dispatches the Angolan Marine Corps.
The Angolan Marine Corps - Generally more well-trained than Army grunts (though less so than Army Special Forces), they specialize in amphibious assaults, boarding other ships, and defending their own ship from being boarded & doing simple repairs in the heat of battle.
The Angolan Air Force - The AAF has rule of the skies and is the third largest branch in the Angolan Military. The AAF normally depends on the Army or Navy for transportation and relies on the Mechanical Corps for repairs & maintenance.
The Medical Corps - Medics. They travel with all branches and are adept in healing fallen warriors.
The Mechanical Corps - Repairs ships, trucks, aircraft, etc. Whichever outfit they are currently assigned to gets them supplies.
The Angolan Home Guard - Reservists. In the event of a national emergency they will be summoned to the closest National Defense Depot and take up arms for their nation.

===Roleplay===

Roleplay is rewarded. What your roleplay is about will determine what it goes towards; talk of trade agreements will increase your trade tech, economic reforms will boost your industry, etc.

And some of us wondered whether this would really be an MP game. /SMH

To be honest, I share Christos' concern. It's not that I distrust Thorvald individually, or Tani, but as a longrunning IOT and AC GM and player I have little faith in abilities to separate the bias of the player, for good or ill, from the actions of the in-character . . . whatever. Nations, characters, what have you.

THAT SAID, I'm also not up in arms about it. It irritates me, yes, and I REALLY don't like it, but if that's the way it's going to be I'm not going to spam up several pages.

In other news, American Empire initial RP should be coming soon.
