Multipolarity III - Game Thread

Change in orders: Don't attack Michigan. Attack all territories adjacent to us EXCEPT Michigan.

We've got enough problems to worry about, we don't want to fight with you.
The Solitude Republic thanks Canada for coming to an agreement.

Is Cascadia gone officially? On what basis are you claiming territories on the West Coast?
OOC: See note on the map and Tani's announcement of them dissolving. I only took into account of the situation for next turn which takes into account nations that have withered away into nothing.

Now here is the Complete SOI in green, once again we have stayed out of other SOI. We highly suggest that Canada stay out of it and stick to Canada unless they want problems. The striped area is the only part we would be willing to part with.

Under better circumstances we may have stayed out of the US entirely, but land is unfortunately tight, and we are likely to end up at war soon.

Let us have the striped part, and we'll stay entirely out of the green part.

The Solitude Republic acknowledges and respect Tropico's SoI. I'll ensure the Republic Rangers to stay out of those boundaries.

Really? I heard south idea is wonderful this time of the year. But we see that there is a need to compromise. You can expand into all of the striped parts except the southernmost province because El Presidente gets cranky when he doesn't have a smooth border.

El Presidente also suggests you map your SOI soon.

We thank Solitude for respecting our SOI.

Overview
The Imperial Kingdom of Blood is ruled by Kain, the first of the reborn Vampire Race. After usurping power from a corrupt oligarchy he raised six Catholic Demon hunters known as the Sarafan order to be his direct children and heirs. The firstborn of the six and heir to the Immortal throne is Raziel.

The Vampires were originally a benevolent winged race who some sources believe to be linked to the angel mythos. In times long past they were cursed by the Eldar gods and then came under religious crusades ending in their supposed genocide. They were reborn in the time of troubles, the Demon Wars, as common foot soldiers. It is unknown if they appeared from some secluded hideaway or were remade by Iblis.

Kain himself purports to be the beginning of a whole new generation of his race. A father, king and emperor to his people. The sentient's under his rule are treated well, although the humans are taxed in blood as well as money, coining the terminology of Blood Money as their currency. Kain delegates many of his tasks to his heir-lieutenants. As an Immortal ruler he does not have to fear his death and most of his plans can be long term.

Religious freedom in the realm causes some controversy, Kain stamps down on any extremist movements when he finds them. But for the most part Vampires follow the spiritual path of the original vampires. One that believes in fate, balance and a sort of reincarnation of the soul in a recursive cycle of time. In a change from the way religions usually work, while vampires believe in this fate and wheel of time, they see themselves as apart from it. Just like traditional human religions are incomprehensible to Vampires as they are immortal, and heaven and hell are thus immaterial to them, so too do they set themselves above their own religion as guardians of time, fate, balance and the realm. Humans mostly follow Christianity, although the more extremist movements are gone, Catholic & Protestant Christianity are the two main forms that survive.

Due to the nature of the vampire race as descending from a corrupted angelic origin and the old order of the land having succumbed to its own corruption, all sentient beings of the Blood Empire realm are against corruption in all forms. Religious, economical, social and ecological.

OOC
Spoiler :

South America seems to have no PC nations! Well we can't be having that. Most of the good ideas were taken, my initial thought was for Cthulu but apparently he is just hiding on Easter island. I also thought of jumping in on the West coast of America now that Cascadia has fallen... but really with three people already arguing over land I may as well go annoy the NPCs in South America :p

I picked purple as a colour for my claims to try to stand out against the others, but feel free to change that if needed.

I assume that I can only claim 10 this turn. Not claim 10 AND ALSO advance?

Diplomacy to come once I've re-read the rules and checked out the UN

Fair enough, we'll give up the southernmost province in the striped area.

So, to recap:

Attack all unowned territories adjacent to our borders EXCEPT Michigan and the Southernmost striped province on Patchy's map.

That reminds me. There are new resolutions in the UN, please check them out and vote on them people.

We would like to ask Hyontou for a mutual reduction of tariffs. Manchuria is rich in metals rare and common alike, and we would very much appreciate it if we could arrive to a mutual agreement of free trade.
We shall agree to mutually lowered tariffs with our neighbour Great Shimazu Japan. May prosperity fall upon all those who earn it.

The Imperium declares its still granting its military support to the Pope. We will crusade in the name of the Holy!

Turn III (2502)

Map

Stats

Summary

The Union of Nations’ first year has been quiet; the Manx Imperium proposed to the Secretaries that nations not be allowed to use human rights or ideology as casus belli, but Tropico, as General Secretary, vetoed such.

Tensions have flared in North America, with Canada on one side and Manx on the other. Solitude has voiced concern over Canadian aggression, which has also extended towards Cascadia. Many states have voiced indifference, but others, such as Algeria, have begun giving passive financial support to certain factions. Namibia, suzerain of a very powerful alliance, has given support to Canada, making many fear a possible world war. Some blockades have resulted from the dispute, but fortunately no shots have been fired.

By contrast, the war in Asia has ceased, with Malaysia’s agreement to reform borders accepted by Singapore. Singapore, making use of reclaimed personnel and factories, has become the world’s greatest industrial power, while also renaming itself Indonesia to prevent irredentism. Faced with movie night with Lord Ghirahim every weekend for a year, Malay’s highest-ranking general’s screams were not heard over the sound of Estefan Meier’s Crepúsculo played at maximum volume.

All over the world, the Romnesians make their presence known. No less than twenty-one states were offered alliances and lucrative trade agreements with Romney; only twelve accepted, however, when faced with competing offers. Regardless, the Republic of Romney has made itself known as a power with great clout in international trade and diplomacy. Romnesia’s economic strength is so great that even a disruption to their stock market by outside agents did little to make the giant stumble.

The Shimazu have rechristened themselves Japan, expanding their power into the Asian mainland via their new vassal of Tsingtao. Seen as the most powerful nation on Earth by many, they have remained quiet, making many anxious.

Algeria remains a tax haven, with the lowest overall tax burdens in the entire world.

Events

Low tax rates have spurred investment in Algeria.

Due to sharp tensions, enlistment has risen in Cascadia, Manx, Namibia and Canada.

Rancor over Manx’s open selling of weapons to both sides of a conflict has resulted in India, Finland and Argentina decreeing Emperor Gilmore and his representatives persona non grata. While no embargoes have been issued, it has been stated that no offers of alliance will be accepted.

A disease that kills primarily people of Hawai’ian descent has swept over the world and destroyed the Hawai’ian Empire. Many condolences are due to the Kiwi Royal Family for the loss of the family married into them.

Malay has faced another disruption of resources; a mine has blown up and will take some time to repair.

In better news, Malay’s birth rate has shot up some, making them the world’s most populous nation.

Piracy

55 ships targeted. Hyontou has lost 10 ships. Namibia has lost 10. Aiyo India has lost 10. Oman has lost 10. London has lost 9. Iberia has lost 6.

The Pirate Confederacy offers a deal to the nations of the world: they may pay an amount equal to 10% of their trade vulnerability to guarantee no attacks, or they may alternatively pay the ships (at a rate of 1 gold per vessel) to attack enemies. The Confederacy states that it will only attack defenseless ships.

Unrest

A coup in Afghanistan has brought democracy to a despotic region, whereas coups in Uruguay and Guangdong have seen tyranny displace democracy.

No bonuses will be given on the first turn; winning a category normally bestows +10 Influence (will be adjusted as the game goes on).

Oi! Are the stats purposely not including NGOs in them. Their are still 2 in game. I have no clue what resources I have here.

Algeria declares an embargo against the heathen anti-pope, and opens up the Algerian bank for Canada and the Papal States to take out loans.

ooc: not that I can do much thanks to the megatroll of the two bosnophiles.

I actually cannot do anything now, save inconsequential meaningless things that have no substantial impact on the game, since Im now forced into a texas standoff with Bosnia and the Antipope, which prevents reasonable growth since expansion is impossible due to the situation since if I address one, or if I lower my defences the other or both could easily wipe me up meaning I can do nothing. In time this would lead to stagnation despite my clients which would eventually result in either the conquest of the Papal States, or it being forced to toe the party line of some patron client power bloc.

Ergo I cannot play the game to a satisfactory level thanks to the trolls, which makes me contemplate why I should persist in a game that would require me to ditch my current nation which unlike the two trolls I have already invested in with a client structure, with strategic architecture etc etc and start over if I want to not be consigned to second rate status and the perpetual boredom of having no options. Ragequitting is not my style, and I like challenges (thus why I put people like CivG in some binds, although quantitatively different in that I didn't lock them into a situation they had no options) but the fact this troll effectively prevents me from playing the game has me considering it.

OOC: Ask yourself the same question tomorrow, jeho, when you've had time to cool down.
Don't quit just because you think you've lost. I did that in MP2, but I decided to stay with the game (even with a dozen wars against me and waves upon waves of embargoes). Look how I turned out!

It's easy to fall into the "All is lost" mentality. "oh no, I can't keep up with X, I'm done for". There's always a way to come back.

I think the new pope is the antipope. Not sure though.

South America
Greetings to the mortal nations of South America. I am Raziel, heir to the immortal throne and leader of foreign affairs of state. With the recent coup against the corrupt Oligarchy of Nosgoth our new Empire has expanded rapidly. We wish peace on our more balanced and honourable neighbours, while to those of more corrupting elements... we are watching for signs of your inherent atrocities.

This year begins the start of colonization of South America by foreign rivals. Emperor Kain would call upon other members of South America to speak out against these people taking lands rightfully belonging to the South American Sentient Beings. This land has always been ours and should remain so.

tl;dr
(Saying hi, greeting neighbours and other monarchies. Making pro-South America stance.)
