Multipolarity III - Game Thread

No silly, those two are the only parts of the constitution that will change. The rest will remain the same. :)

Then all my criticisms remain perfectly applicable to the second draft of the constitution, despite your arguements to the contrary. Please feel free to respond to them with something other than an agreement that the current format doesn't make sense, perhaps with an amendment to fix the issues?

As per usual, Mugabe economics. Changes are as follows:

-You have a productivity measure now that determines the value of your goods, thus, you can derive more money per energy and raw material expended in manufacturing. The primary driver of the productivity measure is your industry value; the higher your industry, the more pressure and resources your firms have to innovate and develop better products.

-The markets system has changed. First, you have priority on your clients’ resources, then the middlemen sell them to an alliance market, where all members of your alliance are able to purchase them. Finally they will be sold to the international market. While it can be a bit confusing, you will notice that the price of goods steadily rises as it goes to more open sources. You are basically able to buy them wholesale, and if you don’t, you will instead have to buy them at market price, which can be quite expensive!

So, be wise and purchase all your clients’ resources if the opportunity arises. :p

-Energy/RM production has shifted to about 1:3. Whether this leads to mass military buildups or huge economic boosts, who knows.

-Armies no longer cost maintenance. Resource consumption is entirely manufacturing, WMD production, and army recruitment.

Summary

While war nearly broke out between the Spammers and Aden over the Gulf Crisis, the Spammers ultimately backed down, being surrounded by potential enemies and also losing the support of the Papacy in the event of any conflict. The Spammers instead channeled their energies into trying to pass a new UN Constitution which would empower the UN to better enforce treaties and international peace; its coercive nature made many parties incredibly wary of it.

The Papacy declared its withdrawal from the HITSGDP shortly after the Spammers became belligerent with Aden, and with Hyontou also embracing nationalist trade policies, the HITSGDP has declined considerably, though many Papal vassals continue to operate as part of the organization. The Papacy also tried to quietly dissolve the UN, but the measure was quickly put down by internationalists led by Guinea and Solitude.

With the support of Aden and its allies, Costa Rica has seized the Secretariat as a neutral party, albeit one that is very conservative in its response to UN reforms. Discussions with liberal UN members abound, but it is known that the next five years will see no radical changes to the UN’s function.

Russia shocked the world once more by conquering Finland after its puppet government in the region was deposed. The result was a once more-Russified Finland, with large chunks of land seized and annexed into the Russian Empire. While the ARPU has declared the world should stand up to Russia, most nations are content to let the Czar’s Prime Minister remain in power and continue to pour resources into a hole occupying Poland. The Czar is reported to be in ailing health, and with his current heir being so young, it is expected the PM could very easily soon be in full control of the country.

There are proposals of space programs in the world’s most industrialised nation, Tropico, and it is expected peers in this category such as Sinai might soon follow.

The world has split into four alliance blocs, with a complex mesh of neutral powers regularly switching which alliance they favor. It remains to be seen what effect this shall have on global stability.

Border Disputes

New Zealand-Papacy: 2

Crickets. No not the sport. This likely won’t resolve itself short of a war.

Events

Assimilation! The Somali Occupation Zone has vanished, assimilated completely into Aden.

Assimilation! 1 Vietnamese province is now Malay.

Assimilation! 4 Polish provinces are now Russian.

Assimilation! 2 Colombian provinces are now South American.

The Spammers’ Crusade still is seeing economic woes from the closure of the Persian Gulf, albeit the initial shock is over as more business relocate operations to the Levant. The closure of the Gulf has nonetheless caused considerable economic dislocation, requiring Spammer shipping to go around Africa. The threat of war has caused the Spammer and Adeni militaries to build up slightly, however.

Guinea and Namibia, with minimal inflation, stable, open governments, and low taxes, have attracted investors this year.

Mass demonstrations in support of the ascension to ARMS in Britain, and the Emperor’s announcement of being ruler of all the Britains, dealing another blow to the despised Manx.

Energy prices continue to freefall while raw material prices continue to shoot upward. This is due to a glut of energy resources and the ever-valuable raw material uses.

Uprisings

Every turn occupation damage is dealt to an occupier; 1 army per 5 provinces, and 0.05 Industry per province. This is default; actual triggered rebellions can intensify the effects.

Aden loses 1 army and 0.25 Industry. Malay loses 1 army and 0.15 Industry. Russia loses 6 armies and 1.2 Industry. UK loses 1 army and 0.3 Industry.

Union of Nations

The UN has seen a measure to dissolve itself by the former General Secretary defeated thanks to a veto by the Solitude representative. A close election saw heated debate between those wishing to stay the course and those wishing to reform the Union. Ultimately Costa Rica won out as moderate conservative candidate, open to strengthening the UN somewhat but nowhere near as much as Guinea or Indonesia.

For 2510-2514, the General Secretary is Costa Rica.

Being elected as general Secretary grants 100 influence points. Deputies earn 25 points per term.

Deputies

2510: Indonesia / Spammers
2511: Aden / Solitude
2512: Guinea / Aden
2513: Aden / Solitude
2514: Guinea / Sinai

[BLEEP]ing finally! Now I can do something with all that industry besides sell many goods. Thank you Tani!

Ok, now that the new turn is here... can i claim Byzantium?

Yes you may. I'll give Ninjacow some compensation to make up for it.

Sending out NGO stats now.

OCC: Eh. That's strange. My post got eaten by the big post eating monster.

IC: We have reliable information that Mathew III is ill and, since he does not have any children that are known, will appoint a heir in the near future. We will welcome any legal heir of Mathew III and we hope that they will continue our current positive relations with the Spammers' Crusade and that will continue to honour their commitments to HITSGDP.

Talking of international organisations, we have proposed two proposals in the UN. We encourage all nations of the world to vote in favour of them.

Well, i hereby Claim the Byzantine Empire.

Name:
Government: Constitutional Monarchy (OOC: Constitutional monarchy does NOT necessarily mean Great Britain CM. it could be quite autocratic, as defined by the Constitution)

Currency: Hyperion

Economic Policy: 8
Social Policy: 6

We would like to send our regards to Mathew III who is currently in hospital, incapacitated. We wish to also congratulate [INSERT NEW RULER NAME HERE] on ascending to the throne. We know of your policies to end the clientage of your nation by the Spammers' Crusade and we are not offended, but we do wish to continue warm relations with your country. Perhaps signing a Defensive Pact to show that you wish to continue to have good relations with us? :)

Also, we propose that Byzantium should be readmitted into HITSGDP if they are willing to join of course.

Emperor Andreas I, of the Second Komenos Dynasty, will assume the throne at this moment.

The Holy See looks forward to better relations with Byzantium now that it is no longer under the dominion of the Spammers Crusade and their apostate and tyrannous regime. (as seen in its recent proposals which we previously and continue to condemn)

Constantinople, 2510

A new Emperor has taken the throne! his name is Andreas I of the long thought lost Komnenos Dynasty. Andreas is, essentially, a Military Genius, and an able administrator. When asked what his plans were, he has said: we will insure Byzantine Security and safety throughout the Entire Realm, and make Byzantium the major power of the world.

we are comparatively small now, but I hope that the situation will change in time. we are not stupidly aggressive, so no one has to worry. for now, I will focus on establishing diplomatic ties with all states, and Generally establishing Byzantium as a power competent enough to pull its weight.

OOC: Which reminds me (NC's statement)

Notice from the Holy See to the World

The Secretariat of State wishes to notify the nations of hte world that the Holy See, under the gloriously reigning Pope Palpatine III, has researched a means to open a temporary anomaly which allows a glimpse of the glory of God. Ergo a device that in secular terms can be said to manifest the glory of God and prove absolutely His existence. Unfortunate this has proven to be ultimately fatal to the imperfect (God's glory being so great, that the imperfect can not exist in its presence), which is to say sinful men (and all have sinned) hasten to their judgement upon seeing the divine majesty.

Thus our researchers have officially dubbed the technology a Weaponised Manifestation Device (WMD), and discerned after much prayer and reflection that it would be of great utility to have such a device on standby in the event that any enemy of God dares to attack the papal states. We would urge all nations to take this into account.

Poland proudly announces its development of nuclear weapons. Tread carefully Russia.

Russia thinks Poland is naive to assume that ARMS forces do not have their own nuclear arsenals as well. If you are interested in making Europe an irradiated wasteland, by all means be our guest. Tread carefully Poland.

Costa Rica strongly recommends against first strikes by either side. As invasions could precipitate first strikes, those are included as well. Costa Rica finishes up by saying that it too has nuclear weapons and has amassed a considerable stockpile. To quote Lincoln, we shall preserve the Union. Consider this a unilateral restraining order on the both of you dingbats.

No discussion. As Secretary, we will not let the world burn. It is a new union, and a new era. Both of you tread carefully.

Indonesia

Well this just got interesting. I may have to postpone my sleepover with Ganondorf!

the Emperor would like to remind the papal state that God is the same person to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. the weapon may not have effect on the faithful of, say, Mecca, or Constantinople, or Jerusalem.

(OOC: had to point that out)

Question: Does being a Catholic, Other Christian, Jew or Muslim make one free of sin and thus immune to the Weaponised Manifestation Device? ~ Government of Byzantium

Answer: No, As such In the event of a Divine Manifestation Anomaly all present in its DMZ (Divine Majesty Zone) will equally hasten to their judgements, be they civilians or military forces, due to the impossibility of the imperfect (such as man, in its fallen state of original sin) existing in the presence of the perfect (the manifest glory of God)

Pope Palpatine III, in addition to being a good and holy man, has no nukes and does not intend to develop such technology.

That said the Holy See does agree with your organisation that it is troubling that the Russian Prime Minister insinuates he has access to a nuclear stockpile.
