Multipolarity IV Game Thread

From: The CSA

The Confederate States of America hereby announces two newly minted alliances, with both Icleand-Norway and New America.

We also extend an open hand to all American nations to join this growing bloc of nations, as well as any in the World, to see a new rise of North America.

May the Icelandic-Confederate alliance last a thousand years.

The Leth Confederacy is troubled by the CSA's unsavory choice of friends.

"They what?" The Dictator exploded.

"The Combined Syndicates of America called us a nation of prostitutes after we informed them of our deep tradition of neutrality and told them they'd have to compensate us if they wanted us to break it." Doumont repeated. "While trying to get us to embargo their enemies."

"Well now. We won't be doing that, I trust?" Shrev asked, deceptively calm.

"Of course not." Doumont agreed. "In fact, I went ahead and sent Iceland one of our summer weapons catalogs."

"It's really weird, Doumont. We can make deals of mutual convenience with our ideological enemies, but our ideological allies call us whores." Shrev mused.

"I suspect that has to do with the character of the leaders, My Lord." Doumont theorized. "The Crimson King is a Joker, Club, and Spade so he's perfectly willing to make pragmatic deals."

"Still with Monsterguard cards?" The Dictator questioned with amusement. "That superstition doesn't amount to anything in this crazy world."

"My Lord, the cards tell the past, present, and future as well." Doumont replied irritably.

"So you say. Any news on those spies?" Shrev requested.

"Oh yes. Well, they were definitely Humanity First." Doumont replied. "We got a communique from Humanity First which denied it, but we're pretty sure they were bullshitting us."

"Ah, of course. Where did we send them again?" The Dictator inquired.

"For the eighth time, Devil's Dowry." Doumont snapped. "I swear, your memory and attention span has been shot ever since you hooked up with Annabelle."

"I have other concerns, Doumont. This is the first time a relationship has really come together and felt right." The Dictator sighed.

"With respect, My lord, you need to be a governor first and a lover second. Eleven million of your citizens, three million Kenyans, three million Ashanti, and thirteen million Congolese depend on your ability to rule." Doumont explained deliberately. "If you cannot govern, you must have the cities grant authority to a different Amatyi."

"I can govern. Just understand..." Shrev trailed off "I have to be there for her too. Much like you have to be there for your wife."

Doumont rolled his eyes. "I only see my wife every six months, and I'm okay with that. You want me to understand? Marry her. Make an official commitment. Because that's the only way your people will understand."

A familiar hard glint appeared in the Dictator's eye. "Noted. What do you think of Angela Leigh?"

Doumont blinked in surprise. "Who?"

"Keep on your game, Doumont. Thirty million lives ride on you knowing everything." The Dictator riddled harshly.

"Fine, I apologize, my lord." Doumont answered sarcastically. "Now who is Angela Leigh?"

"She's due to meet us in ten minutes. Call Raekhimnijong - I'll want both of your honest impressions of her." Shrev ordered quietly.

Zoe lay on a small cot in a 3 meter by 3 meter metal room. In addition to her bed, the room contained a lamp, table, bookshelf, and a small refrigerator. On her stomach lay a letter from Phillip - wherever she was, mail delivery was pretty constant.

Her eyes again fell upon her heart. Memory reached her -

She received a letter from Phillip, wrote a code in her own for him to decipher. Gave it to her captors to send as she knew they were. An hour later, a fiery redhead entered with two hulking marines. The marines held her down while Angela told Zoe her sin - then touched the skin above Zoe's heart with a glowing metal rod.

AL. Burned on top of her heart. Forever.

The door creaked open. Zoe looked up as Jacob Taylor walked in, carrying a silver platter laden with the finest foods of Tayloristan - even acid-treated and therefore edible Jungle Scorpion.

Jacob bowed. "Your highness, I bring lunch."

Zoe sighed. "Jacob. Stop calling me 'Your Highness' or 'My Lady' or anything reverent. You're just a jailer."

"No. I am a servant to the future Dictator." Jacob countered with irritation.

Zoe stared at him. "Then serve me and let me leave."

"I can't do that, my lady." Jacob replied calmly. "Is there anything else you require? More books? Board games? Pleasant company? I'm here to serve."

"I require" Zoe stressed the word. "To know where I am, what your psychotic allies intend to do with me, and to go back to where I belong: Traveling on board the Absolute Power with the ruler of this country."

"And I can't tell you any of that, my lady. I'm sorry." Jacob backpedaled.

Zoe got up. "Then you're useless!"

Jacob quickly retreated as Zoe threw a book at him, scoring a direct hit.

Doumont: "A rising little country on the shore of the Mediterranean!"

Shrev: "Well, offer them a little welcoming gift!"

Doumont: "...You know I can't read your mind, right?"

Annabelle: "He means a squadron of Si-15-F Dominators and a pair of his old shoes. We must influence their aircraft development along paths we desire."

Doumont: "...How about a basket of fruits and a NAP?"

Annabelle & Shrev: "No! Aww. I love you."

Raekhimnijong: "Fine. What should the note say?"

Shrev: "We welcome you onto the global stage, Accidentania. Enclosed is a token of our goodwill - twelve sixty-year old fighter planes & a pair of my old shoes. Wear them proudly."

The news of this "New America" alliance bloc is starting, especially to the socialist world. At least two of the three signatories have expressed extreme anti-socialist sentiments, insulting the socialist cause and our system of operation. The last signatory has known to be against the Combined Syndicates' policies on multiple occasions; its initial pact with Iceland was made in order to attempt to keep the Combined Syndicates in line with their own plans.

In response to this decidedly anti-socialist, ultra-nationalist bloc, we would like to ask the possibilities of embracing internationalism in the form of a full alliance between our socialist states. How would you feel about such an alliance? We await your preferably hasty response, for the enemy is encircling.

We here in New America have come to realize that you have a defensive pact with, and are being offered an alliance by, the syndicate of Chicago. We would ask that you refuse this full alliance and break this DP. This syndicate would have you think we were ardent anti-communists, but that is not so. In fact, should it ease your mind, we would be happy to sign a NAP just as we have done with your friends in Argentina. In fact, we offer this NAP to all of South America. to prove we have no ambitions there. Our only interests at the moment is dealing with a threat on our border. We were nearly invaded by this so called peace loving syndicate before Iceland intervened. We only wish to protect our sovereignty and check the aggression of our neighbors. As fellow american nations, we ask that you trust as as Argentina does.

New America realizes that you have obligations to the CSA to our west and south. These syndicates have sent out messages asking for a full alliance. Yet we ask that you decline this and leave american affairs to americans, just as we intend on leaving european affairs to europeans. We have no love for the syndicate, that is true; yet that is because they threatened to invade and annex our country and people not too long ago. We only wish to protect our borders and check the aggression of our neighbors. So hear our plea. Sign an NAP with New America to seal our promise we have no ill intentions towards you. Don't get involved in any conflict that might erupt in the americas. We don't demand this, yet we ask it of you. It will lead to the betterment of all if you follow our requests.

I highly doubt that any kind of organized leftist organization would find itself un-oppressed in a far-right military junta. This is just rice pudding made of words to try to make our allies and brothers somehow turn their backs on us. The only reason we demanded such from New England is because of the oppressive police state that ran the show, which under maritime expansion would not be neccessary under any circumstance encompassing such a peace. And it doesn't appear that the state has changed all that much either. Perhaps, only grown more vocal. It should also be noted that the King of Iceland is illegally attempting to force his will upon Sweden as we speak.

As they have signed defensive pacts with a foreign power, it doesn't appear that these nations have much of an anti-internationalist inclination. Europe for Europeans and America for Americans means nothing in such a case.

It also doesn't calm relations when one works actively against a country signing treatie of friendship with other like-minded countries. Your attempts at disunifying the few socialists in this world has been noted by us, and we urge our allies to take note of it as well.

Half of Sweden surrenders, the other half will continue the fight.

We extend a hand into our fold as a protectorate, or even to be enveloped completely into our nation, to further extend our alliance. We merely wish to protect you from imperialism, and a declination will do nothing to affect our relations, nor any standing agreements. Iceland-Norway and New America back us in this, so negative backlash need not be a worry.

Peru will join the alliance on condition we do not fight simply by violence. We have to challenge the cultural hegemony of the ultra-nationalist bloc. A alliance is welcomed, although Argentina's cultural hegemony over us may pose a little... consideration in that part. As such be sure to help find a way to ensure we are safely set into your alliance but that we will at note try to keep neutrality at most part with Argentina itself.

Caracas will set the alliance on condition we would keep out of any hostilities with our other ally Argentina.

The Caribbean agrees to the alliance. Tis be the season of signing alliances! Of course there is a issue... we have set to sign alliance with the CSA too so we will have to choose who we support in the future...

Well I guess I will be more committed to the Revolution, but the CSA's influence on us...

OOC: see? Influence alone would cause out of focus actions! Now I am at a cross roads whether the Caribbean should link with either of the CSAs. My instinct would be to commit the Caribbean to the Syndicate but then I will be getting complaint for ignoring the CSA's influence over the other CSA.

This... is now a issue I will have to consult with Tani over.

However...

IC: we will consider the alliance with our socialist comrades stronger.

OOC: due to ideological closeness as oppose to number management.

Peru and Caracas agrees with its socialist ally the Syndicate, the former especially in regards to study of the treatment of certain authoritarian governments.

Columbia notes the New America that it is open to a deal with a fellow respecter of power. A NAP is welcomed. We will of course set priority to the strong power of Argentina.

With the guide of Prime Minister Ux-Battaar Lee, the Parliament has decided to vote the start of a new, this time Global, Democratic Revolution in response of the aggression of the AUtocratic Imperialist Slave States.

The Democratic Revolution, started in 2179, when the Communists were overthrown from the Government. The new Government created a liberal constitution, banned slavery and made all men and women in Mongolia equal before the law.

Now, Lee leads the country in a new second Global Democratic Revolution to end slavery, oppression and monarchy or dicatorship, starting with the liberation of Japan and the Crimson Court.

The Mongolian Senate voted in favour of the new Democratic Manifesto, writen by Ux-Battaaar Lee himself, with 300 yes and with no Senator voting no.

Manifesto of the Second Democratic Revolution

1) Slavery is to be banned in liberated territories.

2) All slaves in the Crimson Court and Japan are now considered free citizens and equal to all other citizens.

3) All rich landlords in the liberated territories will have to give their land to the state and then the land will divided among the peasants.

4) The dictatorships and monarchies of Korea, Manchuria, Japan and the Crimson Court are over and the people of those countries are called to take up arms against their oppressors and establish democracies.

5) In all liberated territories, all citizens will be equal before the law.

6) The Democratic Army of Mongolia shall export the Revolution to all people who are oppressed.

The Democratic Army of Mongolia

The Democratic Army of Mongolia, the army of the nation, is made up by almost 800,000 well trained troops, most of them volunteers. This army will export the Democratic Revolution and defeat Imperialism.

" An Army of the People can never be defeated!" Ux Battaaar Lee replies to all those saying that the odds are against him.

Welcome to the New Age:

Spoiler :
Pierre Sevigny seated himself on the edge of the Cabinet room. It was strangely sparse and utilitarian by governmental standards – lacking the gaudy ornamentation of the other French states. Occitania was a land of practicality, as might be expected from a state that was for so long an afterthought to the great Powers of Europe.

Now, though, things were changing.

There were four others seated at the central table, etched with the fleur-de-lis and ringed with Occitanian symbols. The first was a bespectacled man in his seventies, idly passing the time by playing the latest game on his phone. He seemed cool, collected, and unconcerned with the unusual nature of the meeting.

Armand Dupont. Internal affairs.

The next was a large, powerfully built man, legacy of a youth spent in the unstable Russian plains. He clearly knew how to crack heads, which made his appointment baffling to those not intelligent enough to see his shrewdness.

Jean-Paul Clark. Half-English, international relations minister.

The next was a woman, redheaded and visibly bored, leaning back in her chair and tossing a pen to herself. She was a Scot, with all that breed’s pugnacity and lack of patients. She claimed ancestry in Occitania, but Pierre had never believed her. He suspected no one really did, but she was a good fit for her role.

Merida MacAllister, Occitanian Armed Forces.

And the last . . . .

She was a tall woman, nearly Merida’s opposite. Her hair was a striking raven sheen, left to cascade past her shoulders and wrap around to her back. She was in her mid thirties – young to an older world, but old to be an Occitanian politician. The last government was only recently evicted from the Napoleon House, after all, and everyone knew that the fortunes in Marseilles could change just as easily in favor of President Nathalie Durand’s foes.

“I believe we’re all here,” the president said finally, putting down a sheaf of notes and taking off her glasses. “Before we begin, would anyone like a drink?”

No one said yes, so the president leaned forward, steeping her fingers. “All right. Our situation is not what you could call good. I have already begun to feel pressure from the Center-Left to appoint Gascon Perry into my government. I believe I have no choice this time, so I will need a recommendation for something prestigious, but ultimately harmless.

“But we can deal with that later.” The President eyed MacAllister. “I believe we’ll start with you, Merida. Things have rapidly shifted here in the last year. Where do Occitania’s militaries stand?”

“In good stead.” The words flowed in a thick Scots brogue, even in French. “We have six destroyer squadrons operating in the Mediterranean, each comprised of eight destroyers. We have four more operating from Bordeaux in the Atlantic. We also have two squadrons of five submarines, plus three more under construction. Alas, we do not have any aircraft carriers or missile cruisers, but construction work on both Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and Marshal Petain proceeds well. The Nicole Administration designed them to be Mediterranean carriers – short take-off and landing variants, as opposed to oceanic supercarriers in the model of the US Nimitz-class from the late 1900s. They can each carry forty OF-7 Lufbery multipurpose jets, each of which has twin 30mm rotary cannons and can mount up to 4 missiles of various types. These aircraft already make up a sizeable portion of our air fleet, and with the competion of the Napoleon-class ships we ought to have at least parity in the Med with any but the greater naval powers.”

“And the Army?”

“The Army is strong enough for its purposes, but if we intend to get into a slugging match with a major European power, we ought to increase the draft.” Merida ran a hand through her hair. “The Air Force primarily contains Lufbery fighters, but there are also those planes the Tayloristani sent us.”

“Can we use them?” Nathalie asked. Merida shrugged.

“Unlikely. They’re not the best planes in the world. I planned to put them to use as pilot trainers.”

“Do it. Anything else?”

Merida shook her head, leaning back in her seat and watching. Nathalie turned to Clark next, asking her questions with a raised eyebrow.

“Madame, our options are limited diplomatically,” he said. “We have few enemies, but also not but too many allies. The Mongols offered a defensive pact, but we politely declined as we are seeing to our own affairs. They stated that if we later change our minds, an agreement would be welcome.”

“We shall bear that in mind, then,” Nathalie said. “Anything else?”

“I have the information from the latest round of talks,” Clark said. Nathalie’s smile broadened.

“Excellent, excellent. See me after the meeting and we’ll discuss them.”

Without prompt, Armand spoke, knowing it was his turn with some sixth sense.

“We’ve really managed to push a lot of development lately. Our population has exploded from around four and a half million to nearly twelve.”

“What?” Nathalie frowned. “That’s three times what I remember during the election.”

“Indeed,” Armand said. “Firstly, we conducted a more thorough census lately, which uncovered a lot of people who weren’t answering the previous administration’s attempts. Secondly, the war in Cape Verde and Ashanti has provoked a flight of refugees from Africa, and Occitania lies directly to the north – as good a place as any, and better than most. Lastly, we’ve had record immigration from North America and the rest of France this year, leading to a massive population boom. We used the ballooning labor force to massively expand the country’s infrastructure network.”

“Very good,” Nathalie said. She smiled. “And how goes progress toward the new medical developments?”

“Very well,” Armand replied, unruffled as always. “We believe we’re on the threshold of some new breakthrough in treating several kinds of diseases. If we can manage it, population should boom yet again.”

“Good, good.” Nathalie looked around. “Well. Now that the review is handled, I believe I have some priorities to issue.”

“And they are?” Merida asked. Nathalie began jotting notes on her omnipresent pad – she preferred to write for herself rather than trust a secretary. One of the things Pierre admired about the Parisian.

“First off, the Navy has priority to finish the Napoleons – and begin construction of two more. Cardinal Richelieu and Samuel Champlain, I think. Also commission another DESRON. Copy the Tayloristani planes as dedicated trainers if they prove adequate to our needs, and continue production of Lufberys.” She paused. “And draw up some reserve plans to conduct a war across the Mediterranean in the event the Gold Coast War escalates further. We won’t commit to aggressive action, but Occitania will protect her interests if it comes to that. Also prepare some scenarios dealing with Hummel or Scandinavian assaults on France. I don’t consider that likely, but it pays to be prepared.”

“Oui, madame,” MacAllister said, already taking notes. Knowing her, half were probably questions that Nathalie had brought into the general’s mind.

“And the Diplomatic corps?” Clark asked. Nathalie grinned.

“Begin some overtures to Burgundy and Brittany. We are all French, are we not? A mutual trade partnership and union would benefit all.”

“Oui, madame,” the diplomat said. He leaned back, watching now.

“Armand, you and your people focus on that medical breakthrough, and on attracting immigrants and refugees,” Nathalie continued. “I want the population to double again within my mandate.”

Armand smiled thinly. “Six years is little enough time, madame.”

“I know, Armand, I know, but if anyone can do it, you can. Continue to improve the infrastructure to boost our trading capacity.”

Pierre finally bore the weight of Nathalie’s gaze – her powerful gaze. Amazing, really. She was a soft, kind woman, gracious to all who knew her.

And Pierre had always had a nagging suspicion that reincarnation might actually be a thing. This Parisian social worker turned Occitanian president reminded him forcefully of a certain Corsican prominent in French history.

“And what of you, Pierre?” she asked. “What do you have to report?”

Pierre grinned. “Madame, General MacAllister, Ministers Clark and Dupont. Allow me to provide for your enlightenment.” With one flourish he drew several folders and spread them on the table.

“I’m sure you’ll find them interesting,” he said.

Greetings, sister nations. It has been too long that France has sat divided. Perhaps it would be best if we were to enter into a trading agreement and mutual defensive pact in the interests of France - if one of us is invaded by a non-French power, the others shall rally to their defense. France for the French, non?

Burgundy, ruled by the grand Xaver Wyman, is interest in protecting itself well. The French people must unite one day and this defence offer will be a step in the right direction. We also agree with the economic agreement, showing the power of Xaver Wyman over those pitiful "democrats of the General Will." We will however not reject your offer on the grounds of them signing up to it: better fall to a Frenchman than to a foreigner, hay? We hope to convince you and Brittany of our power! All hail Wyman!

Brittany is keen to close relations to its southern sibling. By vote of the General Will we agree that a defence pact and trade agreement is a wise investment to the well being of our society. We are uneasy about Xaver Wyman and his government but if this will tame him so be it.

Oops... I made a mistake on ideologies...

Peru and Caracas will ally with Argentina instead of the left CSA, although the left CSA can be set in a defence pact.

Ailedhoo, I was not asking for an alliance. I've had an alliance with Puerto since before this turn. I was offering protectorateship or diplomatic annexation.

Since Ailedhoo has asked me to make a decision on the conflict between whether Puerto Rico would prefer a full alliance with either the Syndicates or Confederates (states that are both technically full allies with Puerto Rico but also having tensions), I have made one.

As it stands, Puerto Rico is friendly towards both powers. A large amount of the country's economic base and demographics are from the south CSA. Whereas it has great sympathies (and economic ties) with the north CSA. With how close the two are in influence, it's not really advantageous to pick either side at the risk of alienating the other.

As such, I reason that Puerto Rico will maintain defensive alliances with both and not upgrade to a full alliance until the states either put aside their tensions, or one clearly dominates Puerto Rican politics.

We respect Puerto Rico's decision.

OOC: Acceptable, though I express my distaste at somehow not having te alliance they accepted to.

IC: We understand, and look forward to years of economic growth together.
