I pronounce a y-sound after the m in mute, but not in moot. Also the oo is more from the front of the mouth.

Mjuut and muut. If that makes sense to anyone. :D

Also noticed: you asked in the OP if we pronounce them in the same way, and in your poll if we pronounce them differently.

Are you trying to mute the point? :D

Yes. I can see you might have some difficulty remembering "Do you pronounce them the say way?"

Have you thought of writing your OPs down on a piece of paper?

I don't think I can think of any accents in which they could be pronounced the same. I'm curious as to what inspired the thread?

[Grammar Nazi alert]Then you should have used a comma between "badass" and "dude" to avoid the confusion.[/Grammar Nazi Alert] But the point is mute if you realise we are on an internet forum where punctuation is not that important.

[grammar Nazi alert]The word you are looking for is moot, not mute.[/grammar Nazi alert]
:p

And it's pronounced differently too. :)

yes it is. I keep pronouncing it wrong.

I do love to pull people up when they pronounce moot "myute", it makes me feel good at their expense. Especially as people tend to use the word moot whilst in the process of criticizing your argument.

I remember once arguing with a girlfriend who accused me of putting up a facade pronounced "fakade".....I burst out laughing. It went down poorly.

But it's written 'façade', RLF. You, as a salesman, should be good at and keen on pointing out details.
